{A New Path}: The Beginning Of The End

A/N: This is not a continuation of A New Path. This is a few chapters I will release just to make sure Fairy Tail gets an ending and a proper Arc. This will mainly be about Amell, Cana and Gildarts. This has nothing to do with the Fairy Tail volume I deleted.

-----------------------------------------

What does it mean to be a father?

For Portgas D Amell, that would mean loyalty even in death. He had lived by that code ever since his first son Gildarts was born, and he would continue living like that until the day he dies. But, he has one flaw. He can never be in one place for long. That's why there was a rift opening on God's mountain on the fabled Paradise Island.

Out from the chaotic-looking dimension stepped Portgas D Amell. Creator of this island and everything living on it. Also, the owner of a magnificent brown and bushy beard. "Now this takes me back," Amell said as his right foot touched the ground with the world he had left long ago. Centuries had gone by since he was reincarnated and only now when arriving back here and getting a good look at what his island had become could he appreciate the years that had gone by.

This was when he noticed a slight disturbance in the grass behind him. It was so subtle and smooth that the one who had arrived would have remained undetected if here stood anyone else than Amell. The man bowed low with a smile of genuine delight. "Lord Amell, welcome back! Words can not describe the joy that fills my soul from seeing you again."Said Sebas, the butler, and the strongest creature on this island.

"Flattery doesn't work with me, you know that Sebas. Impress me instead." Amell still walked up to his butler and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I am glad to see you are doing well. Let's talk as we walk." He started walking with Sebas following closely behind.

"What Has been going on over the years? First, tell me how the Overlords are doing."

Sebas nodded. "The Overlords currently reigning supreme has been in power for little over a century at this point. Leo, Aurora. A Sun Lion and a gryphon respectively have been in power the longest of them all. Their power rivals that of Acnologia, while the others aren't as powerful yet. Because of this, Leo and Aurora have divided the thriving side of this island while the other three battle over the deadlands." Sebas had perfect control over even the Overlords on this island, proving his power superior to even Acnologia. Even he couldn't tell how much stronger he was, he just knew he would win.

"I can sense them. They are powerful indeed. Not on the level of a Gotei commander, but impressive nonetheless. Now, tell me about the island, how are we managing both sides of it?" When creating Paradise Island, Amell had created a horizontal mountain chain that divided the island into two parts. Land of the living, which is the reason it's called Paradise Island. It's a massive forest and it's boundlessly beautiful, yet dangers still lurk everywhere. Gildarts found this out when he first arrived here.

The other part is what Amell referred to as the deadlands. Magic had corrupted the island since before his time, so when he first arrived here he had only fixed one side and left the other one as deadland to use for training. In this land resided the most vicious and brutal beasts and heavy killing intent polluted the air. Perfect condition for when you want extreme results in your training. This, he created specifically for training worthy Fairy Tail members if he ever encountered any.

"No problems, Lord Amell. The Overlords keep the balance between the creatures living on both sides. In the past, we had one Overlord trying to invade God's Mountain. He was of course swiftly dealt with." Seba's tone turned cold but he held in his killing intent perfectly showing his great control.

Amell glanced back at his butler. "Did you slay that fool yourself?"

"Yes! His head is hung over the fireplace in the main living area." Sebas said proudly.

"Good to hear!" They had finally navigated the very large garden and arrived by the castle doors. "Home at last!" He took a second to reminisce about his time here with Gildarts. "You know Sebas, the memory of the first time I saw Gildarts here was the happiest moment in my life. I missed twelve years of that boy's life, still, he had only awe and respect in his gaze that day. Tell me, how is that possible." Amell genuinely looked to Sebas for answers so the butler racked his brain hard trying to come up with a solution satisfactory to a God.

"The young lord grew up on stories of the strongest wizard in the world. His worship was embedded from a young age, I wouldn't have expected him to react in any other way." Sebas took a slight pause. "When standing in front of a God, the only appropriate action is to bow your head and pray for mercy."

Amell realised right there that Sebas and all others who served him could never give him the answer he was looking for since their loyalty and fear stopped them from total clarity."I have heard stories of bad fathers. I have seen them too." He paused for a sigh. "I may be a good God, whatever that means, however, I am not a good father. Of that, I am sure."

"Isn't being a good God to the children of this island enough. Must you be both a good God and a good father?"

"Are you saying that there is a difference there? I created life on this island. I am by all right, their God and father. If I am better at being one, why is that so, Sebas? Where does the balance lie in this life of mine?"

The butler had to take another break to think of the most respectful and appropriate answer.

"If you think that you are a good God and a good father, then that is so. You created life, if you think you are good then you are good." Sebas smiled for he felt proud of his answers.

"Good job, Sebas. You identified the problem I have struggled with since my children were born. I do not think of myself as a good person. How can I be a good father and a good God when I'm not a good person in my very soul?" Before Sebas could answer, he was stopped by the island's God. "No need to answer that, Sebas. If I don't know the answer, neither will you."

"If you say so, my lord!" Sebas bowed knowing that this was the end of the conversation. Most people might have been offended with how Amell talked down to him, but he saw it as a blessing. A chance to learn from their God that gave them life, and also learn more of the way Gods think.

Amell opened the door to his majestic castle and before he had time to physically enter into the castle, a teenage girl with light purple hair jumped at him. "LORD AMELL!!" The eccentric behaviour of the offender instantly put Sebas in a bad mood. He flashed in front of Amell and delivered a savage palm-strike to Alora, the first Overlord of Paradise Island. She was flung to the side and slammed into the wall of the castle.

"Sebas! Why must you ruin such an emotional reunion?!" Alora was up on he feet almost before she hit the wall of the castle. "You don't own the rights to claim Lord Amell for yourself, so stop hogging all the action." She flashed against Sebas with her tiny petite-looking fists ablaze with a deep-red flame.

"MORON! NO MAGIC INDOORS!" Sebas acted within a microsecond and slammed another palm-strike to her face. This one was delivered without any mercy and her lips cracked and started bleeding. To put that into proper perspective, it would take hours for Acnologia to draw the same amount of blood from her.

"Sebas, I've never seen you like this before. I did not realise you were this strict." Amell stood amused by the side and watched Alora struggle to get rid of the dizziness from that strike. He had hit her with enough force to obliterate a mountain while restraining any renegade energy from destroying the castle. This was yet another testament to the masterful control he had over his strength.

"I was not like this before, lord Amell. When Alora mastered transformation magic she started using this tiny form to fly around and shooting magic. She did this not only outdoors, but indoors as well. She has destroyed two precious artefacts from your collection." Sebas said.

"Let her be, Sebas. You will only burn yourself out if you try and tame her. As for my artefacts, don't worry about them. They mean nothing to me now. They are just junk I picked up on Ishgar back when I still thought material possessions fulfilled some hidden desire."

"As you wish, lord Amell." Sebas turned a stern gaze to Alora. "Do not think for a second I am letting you out of my sight. If you damage anything else then the beating that will follow shall be severe." He went into standby mode and positioned himself behind Amell.

Amell just shook his head, he was starting to realise how much he had missed these people. Most of them acted exactly like Sebas, but he found a subtle charm in that behaviour that he didn't know he had missed. He waved for Alora to walk over, she was sitting against the wall that had a dent in it from her collision with it.

"I can feel that you have grown, Alora. How comfortable are you in that form? Have you sparred a lot with Sebas?" A slight smirk appeared on Seba's face, but it disappeared as quick as it came.

"I wouldn't call running for your life as the head butler tries to behead you, sparring. But sure, I've got enough exercise to be comfortable in this new skin."

"Stop destroying the castle and I won't beat you up anymore. It is as simple as that." Sebas squeezed in his counter-argument. The rivalry between these two powerhouses could destroy a continent. That was why they would never travel together.

"Anyway, now that I am back, I am gonna duel with all of you. I want to get an accurate reading of your strength." Amell glanced back at Sebas. "Tell Yuri Alpha to ready the arena in the courtyard, we shall use it later today." "Alora, you and I will fight first, so go prepare for that. You are not to hold back in our fight, I want to see you in battle at your full potential." His tone was stern, and Sebas nodded after getting his order and he flashed away to fulfil it.

"Yessss! I get to fight the boss! This is gonna be so exciting!" She flashed forward and firmly placed her butt on his shoulder with a bright smile on her face. "Favourite spot in the universe! You don't mind, do you, boss?" This had been a distant dream of hers and now that she had this tiny girl form she could finally try.

"I do not. You are as light as a feather. Sebas, on the other hand, will kill you if he sees this." This almost made her get down. It was true that if Sebas saw this, he might never forgive her. The only thing that could change this was if Amell allowed it. She realised this and put on her puppy eyes.

"You wouldn't allow that to happen, would you?" She tilted her head down and looked him in the eyes trying to look as cute as possible.

Amell smiled and said, "You do look eerie similar to my daughter when you do that. For that, I will allow it!" He said with a hint of pride. "God knows I can't deny her anything."

---Later That Day---

On top, the arena that was built in the courtyard stood Amell and Alora. He wanted an accurate reading on their power and this was the quickest and most efficient way to get it. Alora was using her human form to start with, it offered great mobility while not losing any of her raw strength. In this battle, she could not pull any punches because that could result in her losing her life. Everyone on this mountain had unbelievable power in comparison to the people in this world. This, however, was Amell. He could fight one-hundred Acnologia's and walk out with nothing more than a bruise.

Alora looked excited as she stood there smiling, but inside her, her dragon heart was beating out pure nervousness. They had never faced their boss seriously before. Only she had fought him on a previous occasion. That was when he first took over this island, but that was him playing around not even taking her seriously, she couldn't imagine how much stronger he had gotten since then.

"Boss, how many different magics are you gonna use? It wouldn't be fair if you used dragon slaying magic considering I would be screwed if you did." She tried not to let her nervousness be heard in her voice, but Amell smiled warmly because he heard that shakiness clear as day.

"That's interesting. I didn't think you knew about my dragon slayer magic. Did Gildarts tell you that, he is the only one I know of that knows almost every magic I can use?" Since Amell used what he called cosmic bending, which was a reality-bending art, he could use or more accurately replicate any magic, bending or power he witnessed. It wasn't unreasonable to think that he could use every magic in this world.

"Yeah, he let it slip one day when he came to visit us."

Sebas coughed in his hand loud enough to garner attention, "Correction, the dragon known as Alora used evil and underhanded tactics to pry the information out of young master Gildarts." As his hand covered his mouth, she wasn't sure of this, but Alora could swear she saw a smirk on his lips.

"LIES!!" She screamed, terrified from the slight spike of killing intent from Amell. "I did no such thing! Now, should we just get this underway?" She looked pleadingly over at Amell.

"We shall indeed. To also answer your question, if it's needed, I will be using wind magic. Since that is my original magic, I will be using it primarily while staying here." He took his hands out from his pockets and cupped them behind his back. "Come, Alora! Show me what you got." He commanded. You could hear that the kindness in his voice had been replaced by a strict tone of discipline.

"As you wish!" She launched herself against him, causing cracks in the ground where she had stood. "HAAA!!" Her fist arrived in front of his face in less than a second, with the full brute force of her aura. Amell just tilted at a slight angle and avoided it, then he swept her leg causing her to get flipped sideways in the air. He brought forth his palm and struck her in the stomach sending her crashing into the barrier on the other side.

"Woah, I didn't even see Lord Amell move!" Lupus said with clear awe. "Master Sebas, did you see it?" She asked, but saw the slightly perplexed look on his face.

"I saw his hand move to his front, but I didn't see the palm-strike itself. Lord Amell has grown even more powerful than I predicted. I was sure I would by now be able to follow his movements. Sadly I cannot!"

"Shit! He's that powerful, huh," Lupus said absentmindedly. Yuri immediately brought down swift justice in the form of a strike on her head. "You do not address him that way, ever! It is and will forever be, Lord Amell. Anything else and I will personally escort you down to the playhouse." She said stoically.

"Sorry, Yuri, I meant, Lord Amell. I was just shocked, that's all." Lupus saw Yuri's satisfied nod and turned her gaze towards the fight.

Right now, Alora had gotten up again and restarted her assault. They had yet to use magic. It was obvious that she was also using this opportunity to train her martial skills. It would be no better opponent than Amell. Every punch and kick she combined to try and lock him into a combo was countered or blocked. She avoided another leg-sweep by jumping up and following that with an axe-kick to his head.

"Your speed is lacking. And, you are not very creative. You use the same moves over and over again, trying to get through with brute force alone." Amell caught her leg and held her up in the air with a smirk on his lips.

"Oh yeah? How about this!" She raised her hands towards the sky. "Flame Pillar". A massive pillar of fire appeared from above the clouds and struck right on top of them. It even pierced the barrier that Sebas sat up, which meant she used her full power to summon it. The pillar covered them and it covered a big area of the arena and it melted most of what it didn't touch. The heat coming off it was so intense that only Sebas could remain standing near the stage, the maids were forced to jump back a long distance.

"Is Lord Amell okay after that?" Lupus asked, but got immediately reprimanded by Narbel. "Of course he is. Are you doubting how mighty the God who created us is?" She was glaring at Lupus,

as if she felt genuinely insulted.

As the flames died down, only smoke remained behind on the arena. Suddenly a shadowy figure was sent flying out from the smoke and crashed through what remained of the barrier. It didn't stop until it collided with the castle walls.

"Very powerful fire magic, Alora. Unfortunately for everyone, I can't be defeated by magic alone. Better luck next time." Amell waved his hand and the wind cleared the stage of all the smoke. He cupped his hands behind his back and jumped down on the ground. "Fix up the stage. You are up next, Sebas. We will take our duel tomorrow. I'm going to gather the Overlords, I wanna meet them." With that, he flashed away.

"Okay," Sebas clapped his hands and the maids gathered around him with stoic expressions. "We have work to do. This time, make the barrier thousand times more durable." He said.

"Aren't you a little cocky, Sebas?" Alora appeared beside him with bruises all over her body. "You aren't that much more powerful than me."

"If you say so, Lady Alora." He said, but she caught hints of scorn in his tone.

"I'm gonna go and take a nap. Make sure no one bothers me!" She gave him the stink-eye before flashing away towards her bedroom.

*****************************************

Inside the land of the living where Overlords Leo and Aurora lived, there stood erect a beautiful and massive structure. It had an oval shape and had been built for only one reason, that reason being a meeting place for Overlords. The building resembled colosseum of an ancient civilisation. It was build using heavy enchanted bronze-coloured rock, so this structure could withstand a lot of damage.

Amell stood in the middle of the open arena gazing at the sky. He had summoned the Overlords and this by itself caused every creature on the island to tense up. The current Overlords hadn't met him yet, and the ones that had were dead since long ago. The only beings alive on this island that had met him lived on God's mountain.

Amell looked towards one of the tunnels leading out to the arena. 'This must be Leo. I feel a fiery aura. Very powerful, very dominating.' From the tunnel came walking a tall and extremely muscley man. If steroids existed in this world, this man must have eaten them as breakfast, lunch and dinner for several decades. Amell saw visible muscle on him that he didn't know the human body possessed.

Leo walked up to Amell, when he was only meters away he went down on one knee, compressing his muscles against his body, making his body appear even more strange than before. "I have come in answer to your summon, Great Creator."

"You must be Leo. One of the two living on this side of the island." Amell gestured for him to stand up.

"I am honoured the Great Creator has heard about me. I am Leo, a Golden-Sun Lion. Uniquely evolved from the lion species." Leo said proudly.

"Did you name your species yourself, for I have never heard of a Golden-Sun Lion before." He wasn't sure if he liked the name or not, something told him it didn't fit with the man standing before him.

"I did. We, five Overlords, are all self-named, and we all are one-of-a-kind creature, as you shall witness when the others gather."

"That, I already know. Each of you possesses a unique energy signature. You are impressive in your own right." Amell didn't want his relationship with these Overlords to be friendly, so he refrained from showing a smile. "I believe Aurora has arrived." He said as a loud screech was heard and a massive gryphon, not losing out to Orlando in size appeared from over the wall around them.

"That's her, my eternal rival." Leo glared at the creature that landed next to them. She bowed her head to Amell, willingly submitting to him.

"Aurora. You are as beautiful as I've heard. Powerful and proud, you are deserving of the position of Overlord."

She raised her head and opened her eyes, showing those bright and beautiful golden eyes. "I am unworthy of such words, Mighty Creator. As our Father and Creator, what we hold is merely a fraction to yours." Her words were filled with awe and pride.

Leo rolled his eyes and said. "Stating the obvious, Aurora. And I see you still haven't fixed that unnatural voice of yours. Aren't you supposed to be a female?" Leo smirked. After a century as eternal rivals, you learn a thing or two about each other. Aurora's weak spot was her voice. It was really low, and most of the time she sounded nothing like a female. She was mostly safe from others teasing since only Leo would dare anger her, anyone else would die if they tried.

"Do not start anything today, you bastard! I will not allow you to embarrass me in front of The Mighty Creator." She could have easily shot back at him, but she was very aware of Amell's presence. She wanted to make a good first impression, if it wasn't for this, she would have already pounced on Leo and tried to kill him.

"The two great Overlords bickering over such useless crap in front of The Paramount Creator." Three people came walking out from another tunnel then the one Leo arrived from. They were the last Overlords, Luna, Eleanor and Cabel. The one who spoke was Caleb, a tall man who looked to be in his late fifties, with long unkempt brown hair. He was also the only other dragon beside Alora alive since the time where Amell took over this island.

Luna smiled seductively as her hips started swaying in exaggeration as she laid eyes on Amell. "Oh, Beautiful Creator. How I have longed to meet you in person." She had long violet-coloured hair and barely any clothes on her body. She wore a backless black dress that barely kept her assets in place.

Eleanor pinched her arm and gave her a stern look. "You can't seduce our Lord father." She looked at Amell and performed a slight bow with a smile. "It is a true honour to meet you, Lord Father!" She stopped the same distance away from him like everyone else.

"The honour is mine." Amell addressed all of them. "Also, Luna" He turned to the seductive mistress of the deadlands. "You might have success at seducing helpless creatures in the deadlands to your service. But let me warn you now as a courtesy to you as an Overlord. I am never gonna cave to your attempts, and if you push it, know this. It's not hard for me to create another Overlord." Luna's whole aura screamed of manipulation and poison. He had also been warned about this Overlord. So, to stop anything from happening, he made sure to let it be known that all of them are replaceable.

Luna stood in shock at first, but that quickly turned into ecstasy and some perverted form of arousal as her gaze bore into him. "I love a man with power." She licked her lips, flipped her hair to one side, sending a wave of her fragrance at him.

"I apologize for her inappropriate behaviour, Lord father. I am known as Eleanor, a blue-fire Pheonix. I am at your service now and forever." She went down on one knee, and Caleb followed, "I am known as Caleb. It's an honour to finally meet you." He was the only dragon Amell and Alora didn't visit when he first came here, that was also the reason why he was alive today.

Eleanor was wearing an azure-coloured roman-styled dress, her wavy light-blue hair was long enough to touch the ground when she bowed down.

Amell raised an eyebrow at her, he didn't see that overbearing arrogance the other Overlords displayed proudly. Her aura had a humble nature to it, which Amell found most intriguing. "Your ascension to the throne of Overlord was different than the others, wasn't it? There's something different about you. Tell me about your past." Amell ignored the other Overlords, especially Luna's piercing gaze.

"My past is a shameful one, Lord Father." She hesitated to continue, but she met Amell's gaze and the pressure that came from it wasn't something she dared stand against. "I am the former lieutenant of the Overlord that attempted to take over God's mountain. It is a time in my life that I wish to forget, it's a shameful wound on my back that will never heal. It continues to bleed and dirty the land I walk on. That is why I made the deadlands my home, I don't deserve to live in the land of the living with my shameful past."

Amell listened intently until the end without interrupting her, she showed an expression of pain that would have been difficult to fake.

"Eleanor. That old foolish Overlord is dead. His head is hung over my fireplace inside my castle. His action does reflect poorly on you as you have taken up his mantle. But, most offences towards me I can forgive. Never make a mistake like that again or you will join the foolish Overlord over my fireplace."

"Lord Father, it is my shameful past that I will never escape, but despite that, I will show my loyalty towards you, no matter how long it takes. I am nothing like the foolish Overlord I used to work for." To say happiness overtook her would be an understatement, she felt that weight on her heart she had carried for years finally start to lessen.

"I am expecting great things from you, from all of you." Amell let out a little of his aura just enough to match the Overlords aura. "As to why I called you all here. I assume the more perceptive of you have already been able to figure that out. I want to see exactly how strong you are." His killing intent blasted out of his body and forced them to take several steps back. Eleanor, Caleb started shaking from the fear building up. Luna also stood on the sidelines shaking, but she was shaking for a different reason.

"Release your magic all at once. Show me that you have what it takes to defend my island from any threat."

Leo was the first to recover, he released a maniacally ferocious roar and his magic exploded from his body like a great big raging wave. The area drowned in the sheer immenseness of his magic power. Only Aurora could stand unfazed in the presence of this overbearing magic. Next to go was Caleb, He released his magic power all at once and their magic power together split the ground apart. Then at the same time, the other Overlords released their magic, and immediately it became clear how much stronger Leo and Aurora were compared to the others. Their magic dominated everyone and all of them together managed to make the whole island shake violently. The wild beasts roaming the island all ran toward God's mountain in hope of protection. To them, this felt no different than when two or more Overlords started fighting. No one beast wanted to perish by getting caught between a fight like that.

Back with Amell, he stood steadfast against this raging assault. His cloak fluttered around in the wind like crazy but he couldn't be moved. The Overlords put everything into this but yet, Amell stood unfazed to their magic.

He showed emotion for the first time in the form of a smirk, he provocatively brushed his shoulder and said. "Impressive and dangerous, yet are you forgetting who stands before you? Wipe that arrogance of your faces. Let me display the power of God." Without warning a mind-boggling amount of magic exploded out of his body, the Overlords was blasted far away, they all smashed through the walls of the colosseum and reshaped the land of the living with their bodies. Aurora in her massive beast form destroyed hundreds of trees as she flew across the ground.

Upon God's mountain, Sebas and Alora stood at the edge of the mountain watching over the land of the living. The mountain was also shaking, the entire island was at the verge of breaking apart.

"Lord Amell is still holding back, I can feel it." Alora stood there with a worried expression. "If he released it all, I do think that the world would split in two."

"I can not imagine the burden of carrying such power. Never allow yourself to anger or rage for even the slightest slip-up could cost the life of loved ones, or even the world. He truly is the greatest God. In time, he shall rule it all." Sebas made a vow in his heart to serve his Lord with even more dedication.

"Your loyalty is something to be admired, Sebas. Despite what I say, and no matter how much we fight. I will always have respect for you, not many could stay as loyal and disciplined as you have. Your faith in Lord Amell never wavered, yet mind did."

"We all have our baggage, and don't think I am impregnable. There will always be times when our faith in our Lord will be tested and it's those times that define our character. It's not the strength of your faith that matters, it's the ability to endure." Sebas handed her a handkerchief to wipe her tears.

"You have a talent for this, you should do it more," Alora said with a cheerful smile.

"Do what?" Sebas asked calmly.

"Comforting," Alora walked away with a smile and an improved mood.

_______________________________________________

Wind magic is one of the most under-appreciated magic anyone can use. Amell started this whole journey using wind magic and he felt it only right that he should stick to that while he was here. The world didn't know his face, but they knew about his magic. The greatest wizard of his time, and the most skilled wind mage in history. There was no reason for him to use any other magic.

At the edge of God's mountain, he stood, overlooking his island. The paradise he had created centuries ago. Sebas walked up behind him with a funny-looking smile on his face.

"A beautiful place, isn't it?" He said calmly.

Amell nodded and said, "Indeed, the most beautiful, and I have seen worlds very different from this one, yet everything pales in comparison." A sigh sneaked past his defences and escaped from his mouth.

"It's a shame this world never got to admire it. Maybe when you return, you should take a couple of rugrats from that guild with you. I do believe this magical land is too beautiful to hide away forever. And, maybe we have hidden long enough."

Amell nodded as he agreed that maybe that guild deserved a chance to see what the creator of it didn't. That was always one of his greatest regrets, that he didn't show Mavis this island even though he knew her obsession with seeing it. "Enough about the past, for now, let us enjoy the present."

"I take it you are ready to leave then?" Sebas said in his calm and soothing voice.

Amell nodded and waved his finger, and his travel-bag flew up from the ground and he swung it over his shoulder. "Time for my resurrection. Let's see if the world has forgotten about me yet."

"What shall you do first when you reach Ishgar, My Lord? Will you seek out young master Gildarts. I haven't seen him and that awfully rude tiger in a long time, Atlas I believe was its name."

"Let the boy have his adventures. If he was desperate to meet me he would have contacted Alucard. He and I will hopefully meet in the future. For now, I need to go and have a face to face with Zeref, to evaluate if he is a threat to the world or not."

Sebas raised one eyebrow curiously. "What if he is, My Lord?"

"You know better than to ask stupid questions, Sebas."

"I do indeed know better, My Lord. I apologize for my temporary incompetence."

All of a sudden, a violet-hair coloured girl flew past Sebas and landed firmly on Amell's shoulder. "Can I come?" Alora asked sweetly.

"No, I like to do my travels alone, unless it's with my wife. Get down from there now."

"But I want to go outside, I'm so freaking bored up here. Beating up Overlords stopped entertaining me decades ago. Would please tell Sebas to stop being so strict, this is killing me inside." She pleaded and pulled out the puppy-eyes.

"Sebas," Amell said and looked at him. "Keep an eye on her, she can leave the mountain, but under no circumstances is she allowed to leave the island."

"WHAT?! I'll fight you for this, My Lord. Don't think I won't because I will!"

"Alora, stop arguing with Lord Amell. And come down from there, it's highly inappropriate for you to sit up there." Sebas let slip a little of his aura.

Alora sighed, "Sebas, why are you always ruining my moments?" She jumped down from his shoulder and did a spin to face Amell again.

"So, what's the plan when you get to Ishgar?" She asked.

"I just told Sebas before you interrupted." He smiled. "I'm going to look up Zeref, I need to know how much of a threat he is now. No doubt he is alive, but last time I saw him was under Mavis time as the guild master. At that time, he was docile, having no control over his magic, I assume he is still in the usual place." He looked at Sebas.

"Yes. Tenrou Island. He has shown no signs of leaving for a few years."

"How about his Empire? How is it operating without him?"

"August is running things smoothly for now. They have shown signs of unrest, but he is so powerful that no one has dared to speak against him yet. And he has the strongest Spriganss at his side, so he still retains full control of the empire." Sebas had during all this time held tabs on the most important targets of this world.

"Have we confirmed if it's true that he is Zeref's son?" Amell asked calmly.

"No, we don't know if this is true. Their unique magical signature is extremely similar, so the chances of them being related are high. Maybe you could ask Zeref when you meet him, Lord Amell."

Amell chuckled and waved his hand in dismissal. "No, I see no benefit in doing that. I have nothing against that empire, so long they stay away from my family."

"Very well," Sebas said and bowed in admiration. "Then there is nothing left to do but to wish you a safe journey."

"Thank you! And keep this place safe until I return." Amell said.

"Lord Amell, although I'm annoyed that you are locking me in this place with this grumpy guy, I don't wanna lose you, so make sure you stay safe." Alora smiled and embraced Amell for a quick hug.

"You too, Alora. And if I manage to get hurt, and even worse, die in this world, then I don't deserve the power I have." He smiled cheekily and pushed her away. "Be good and I'll make sure to take you on a grand adventure when I get back."

"To another world!?" She jumped up and floated inches away from his face, staring intently into his eyes. "You promise that, and I will never fight Sebas again!"

Both Amell and Sebas couldn't help but let out a laugh. "Don't make promises you can't keep. But I promise that if you behave I will take you to a different world and let you go loose on some strong monsters."

"You got yourself a deal, Lord Amell! Hurry up and go away, but don't stay away for too long. Max a century, not a second longer!" She said sternly with her finger pointed right at his face.

"Deal!" He said calmly.

After he had finished talking to Sebas and Alora, he took to the skies and started flying towards Ishgar. But before he would make his way over to the mainland, he had one stop to make.

"Tenrou Island is that way, I should speed up and I can be there within the hour." Amell gained an explosive burst in speed and it caused a sonic boom that divided the ocean below him. He disappeared in an instant and not one hour later he arrived at Tenrou Island.

He hovered in place before it and took a moment to admire the beauty of the island. This was the sacred island of Fairy Tail, a place of great beauty and power, yet not in the league of Paradise Island. He floated down closer to the island and the closer he got the more sinister the air got. He already knew the reason for this, and this was the reason why he had come here.

When he landed he started walking in the direction of where he sensed the most sinister magic. The source of this magic, he already knew was Zeref, but already he felt elated because even though he hadn't met the black wizard yet, he could tell that he was dormant.

The island itself was of decent size and would take a while to walk from side to side, but Amell was anything but normal. In a few seconds, he arrived in a tiny clearing where he found a young black-haired boy resting against a tree. Amell purposely hid his presence and when he did that, not even Gods could sense him coming.

Amell walked up right next to Zeref and sat down with crossed legs, with his cloak hiding his massive frame. "Nice day for a nap, Zeref." He said utterly startling the black wizard.

With eyes filled with shock and terror, he yelled at Amell. "NO! Get back, don't come close to me!" A black burst of magic escaped his body and assaulted the surrounding. Amell sat there calmly with a smile and snapped his fingers and a pulse powered by the cosmos themselves was released and countered his black magic.

"Y-You're alive?!" Zeref looked like he had seen a miracle.

"Naturally. I am one of the few people in this world who knows how to counter your curse, or in some cases is immune to it." Amell said.

"Who are you, and how did you find me?" Zeref asked.

Amell shook his head disapprovingly. "You may be dormant, but you are not stupid. Think about it for a second, and I'll give you some hints. We are of similar age, the world thinks we are dead. They do not know what we look like, but our magic is famous on all continents."

It still took Zeref more than a second to calm down enough to logically process this. And when he finally started thinking about it. He looked up at the giant sitting in front of him and said slowly. "Portgas D Amell."

"Took you longer than I thought. Maybe I gave you too much credit." Amell said teasingly.

"What do you want with me, Amell? Are you here to drag me away to the council?" He asked.

"Definitely not, I'm pretty sure that they think I'm dead. The world thinks the same about me. According to my servants, you and I are nothing but legends in this time period." Amell smiled almost proudly.

"Then I can't think of a reason why you would seek me out. As you said, I am nothing but a name, a forgotten relic of a time long since past."

"Haha, true enough." Amell started hovering a few inches above the ground for no other reason than that he could. "I am here to see if you are gonna be a threat. I have family and friends in this world and if you are a danger to them, I will eliminate you." Amell said with a smile on his face.

"Impossible. It can't be done." Zeref almost got angry at his bold words. "You are not the first to proclaim to want to end me, and you won't be the last. Do you know what happened to all of them?"

"I presume that they are dead. But, before you say anything else, you have never met someone like me before. I can kill you, but, of coures, it's your choice whether you choose to believe that or not."

"That's a bold claim to make in front of me. I would want nothing more than to rid myself of this curse, but I can not die!" Zeref said in an odd moment of emotional vulnerability.

"Ster up some trouble on Ishgar and we shall see if I have the capabilities to get rid of you."

Zeref looked to the side, ending eye contact with Amell. "Why won't you kill me now? I am right here, defenceless."

"A promise I made to my wife, and also maybe I'd like to believe that there is some good in you. I came here fully ready to kill you, but I think maybe you got dealt a shitty hand in life and deserves a second chance." Amell said as he stared down on the black wizard.

"You remind me of her." His voice drifted into the past this time.

"Who in the world could you be referring to," Amell asked with a smug expression.

"Now it's your turn to stop playing dumb."

A slight chuckle escaped him. "Is that why you chose this place? Her presence lingers here, it's very comforting to be around." Amell said.

"It's isolated here, I don't need to see people and they don't have to see me." Zeref said.

"Sounds very lonely."

"I don't mind. This way at least people won't die."

Amell nodded and smiled in a manner that almost by itself told Zeref that he understood perfectly what he was going through. He waved his hand in a circular manner and a small ball appeared in his hand.

"Come on now, boy." Amell stood up and threw the ball from hand to hand with a smug expression on his face. "Let's see if we can cure your boredom."

Zeref sighed out and smiled awkwardly. "First of all, I believe we are of similar age, so stop calling me boy. Second, what are you planning to do with that ball? I can't die, you know."

"We already established that you can die. And this ball isn't for murder, stand up!" Amell said demandingly.

"I'd rather not. Why can't you just leave me alone?"

"No more questions, stand up and be ready to receive this ball," Amell said.

"No thanks!" Zeref looked the other way in hope that Amell would drop this act and leave him alone.

"Fine, you asked for it." Amell threw the ball right next to Zeref's face and it destroyed the tree he was leaning against, and it sent him tumbling forwards with his face smashing repeatedly against the ground.

Zeref raised his head and glared at Amell who stood there with a winning smile. "So? Are you gonna get up?" Said Amell

Zeref Started to realize that he had no choice if he wanted peace, so he stood up unwillingly. "What now? Are you gonna throw that ball through my head? As a heads-up, that won't work, I'm impervious to all damage."

"It's true that none of the guilds can damage you, but I am different. You may heal fast, yes, but you can still feel pain if I remember correctly. And that by itself should make you very afraid of me because I can inflict pain you have never experienced before." Amell bounced the ball on the ground and caught it with his other hand. "I won't do anything excessively cruel to you as long as you play along." Amell raised his hand and flicked his wrist and the ball went off like a cannon-ball and hit Zeref right in the chest and sent him through a tree.

He emerged from the rubble only a few seconds later with an expression of surprised upon his face. "This is a dangerous game you're playing here, Amell. I will assume you know what I am referring to. We should quit while we're ahead."

A quick scoff was all that he got in return. "I know of the conditions of your curse, it's not something that worries me. Let me tell you why." He summoned another ball to his hand. "I have since long ago transcended all the powers in this world, including the supposed divine. Nothing can harm me, yet I can harm everything and everyone. That is why I am not worried that you should ones again gain control of your magic. If that happens, I have more ways than one to kill you. That is the truth."

"You sound more like an overeager mage too confident in his ability. Yet, I have seen you take on my curse and be fine afterwards. To be truthful, only Acnologia has ever made me feel this conflicted before, I don't quite know how to act here." Zeref said.

"Don't pay heed to that right now. For now, just catch this ball, for this is how I will test you." Amell threw the ball again at a speed Zeref could react to, and still this time he went flying but he also caught it in his hands.

'He has incredible endurance for a human. Gildarts body is still stronger, but that is mainly because he is half-human and half-divine. For Zeref who is all human, he has a very strong body.' Amell raised his hand and caught the ball Zeref threw back. The power behind that throw would have made the ball blast through the body of a regular human, but Amell didn't even feel the impact of it.

"Now we're getting somewhere." Amell threw the ball back at Zeref who managed to catch it while only sliding a few meters. "For the next few days, you will be my entertainment." Amell smiled cruelly and summoned two more balls and said, "Ready for a classic game of, Let's See If Immortals Can Die?"
