The Quest Begins, and Ends

When Selina passed through the portal, she was surrounded by a dark cave, the same cave that her mother must went through twenty years ago, as this was the only known passageway between the Human realm and the Heaven realm.

As Selina traversed through the cave, she tried to read the directions to her destination, until suddenly, she tripped on a rock and it fell out of her hand along with a magical crystal ball, that was handed to by her father to communicate with each other, into a nearby underground river.

No, I can't fail this! Not on my first day! She thought as she ran frantically until she stumbled on yet another rock, and the river took the magical paper with the directions and the crystal ball away from her, along with all of her hope.

As Selina was scarred both physically and emotionally, she began to break down. "AUGH!!!!" she screamed in frustration of herself and remembered all of the times she fell short from her father's exepectations, which was to say the least, most of the time, and began to smash her head against the rocky walls repetitively to punish herself for all of those times. Like the time her father found out she couldn't fly due to the fact she was a half human, another time when she failed to make any friends in magic school because she was different, and even dropped out, and now, when she failed to accomplish her biggest task yet, which the fate of the universe rests upon, all because of her clumsiness.

"Why do I keep failing at everything I try to do? Am I destined to fail? Will I always disappoint my father? Whenever I try to do anything, I always screw it up!" She banged her face against the rock harder one more time. As her face was covered in crimson liquid, she began to fall in despair and slowly lost the will to live.

I want to die, she thought. But that's impossible because I'm an immortal. No matter how hard I try, I will always keep living and suffering. But then, she remembered something that would be thought usually as unfortunate, but in her case, it was as if she prayed to Death to bring its wrath down on her. Due to the fact that she's in a different realm than the one she was born in, so she was actually mortal while she's in this realm.

After this realization, she tried to venture out of the cave, to find where she could end her miserable life.

When she exited the cave, she trampled onto the beautiful flower field without any remorse. All she saw was the bridge, her light at end of the tunnel. She walked gloomy towards the bridge, even as the wind tried to stop her. She simply shook off the wind and arrived at the bridge.

From the bridge, she looked down at the water, where Death's hands were ready to strangle her and bring her to her permanent end. She could not bear to look at her ugly reflection in the water. As she was tired of the pain, misery, failed expectations, she jumped into the water, thoughtless.

Selina began to sink, slowly as if to torture her more, getting gradually closer to the bottom, and the end of her life. When she was almost unconscious, she noticed a faint person, swimming down to her. The guy swam up and carried her to the shore. Soon, she began to cough up water and her consciousness slowly came back to her.

She looked at the guy who rescued her. His clothes were completely soaked, with water still dripping everywhere on him. He's kind of... handsome, she thought as she looked at him more, but she couldn't quite hear what the guy was saying. "Are you okay?" the guy asked for the tenth time, when she finally fully regained consciousness. "Oh yes, I'm fine," she replied, confused until she remembered why she jumped off the bridge.

"Why did you help me?" she asked him angrily.

The man was surprised and frustrated by this response. "I was trying to save you! Is this the thanks I get, after I risked drowning myself?"

"I didn't want to be rescued! I wanted to die!"

The man suddenly grabbed her shoulders and his emotions suddenly started to pour out. "Never say you want to lose your life! My parents had no choice and lost their lives!" he realized his outburst and began to back down, "I mean I don't know what you have been through, but I'm sure it's not as bad you think it is. So, treasure your own life, alright?"

The girl was shocked by this sudden revelation, but it also knocked back her senses in her.

"Sorry about your parents. I was just... I was just..."

"It's alright.... It's alright."

The stranger's words and his embrace strangely comforted the girl and almost magically, she regained some hope.

"But, I lost my paper with directions and my crystal ball."

"Crystal ball?"

"It uses magic to contact others."

"Oh, I see...." he replied, thinking secretly, this girl is completely delusional! Then he remembered he picked up something at the nearby river and put it in his bag. "Um, is this it?"

Selina looked at the crystal ball and her wet magical paper. "Oh, thank you!" He was surprised by her sudden hug, but that made him also surprisingly... happy.

"You are welcome."

"Sire, the King of all Demons, the Slayer of Derxenter, the Grand Duke of the Hima..."

King Thalvaron cut him off, as saying all of his titles is rumored to take an entire decade.

"I appreciate the formality, adviser. But if you have something to say, please do so now."

"Yes, Sire." The adviser struggled to say his report to the King. "You see, sire, there's been a... a..."

"Just spit it out!" yelled the impatient King of all Demons, enough to make even the toughest of ruffians lick his boot.

"Yyyyyes, Sire!" The adviser nervously continued on with his report. "Apparently, a Guardian has been detected in the human..."

"That's impossible!" His sudden outburst brought his adviser down on his legs. "No Demons or Guardians have been able to cross the human realm for two million years!

"I knnnnnow Sire, bbbut the observation ball has never lied to us before."

The Demon King thought about his next plan of action from this surprising news. "The observation ball has been right so far, but the King of Heaven has been cooperating with me diplomatically for years. I don't know why he would betray me now."

"He's tricking you, Sire," the adviser seemingly eager, in fact a little to eager to make him doubt the Guardians. "After all, everyone knows Guardians can never be trusted."

"Well that unfortunately may be so, adviser, but I'll try to contact him to see if this reading was a mistake."

"Bbbbut, Sire!" The adviser seemed disappointed, in fact a little too disappointed that the Demon King didn't immediately denounce the Guardians as traitors to the Demonic race, and declare war on the Guardians.

The Demon King walked over to the Foreign Diplomacy room, where the magical crystal ball was housed. Although it was passed down to all of the demon kings for two million years, the crystal ball was always clean, so clean that you can see through it. However, this time, it was for whatever reason, unclear, as if someone else had used it only a little bit ago, although he himself has used the crystal ball a month ago.

"That's weird," King Thalvaron commented on this strange event. He quickly polished the ball using his magic, as he has always been a clean-freak. "That's better." He attempted to consult King Araton, the King of Heaven, but after waiting a little while, he didn't answer, which seemed unusual, as the King of Heaven was usually pretty attentive, especially when answering his calls. "Well, maybe he just didn't see it." King Thalvaron tried to call him again. This time, his call was clearly refused.

"Damn you, King of lies! You betrayed my trust! I'll show you what I do with traitors." The King of Demons stomped back down to his throne room, where his adviser was.

"Were you able to call him, Sire, King of all Demons, the Slayer of..."

"Shut up, now is not the time!" King Thalvaron's now furious expression and fiery interruption, however didn't seem to even phase the adviser like before. But, now he had a more expectant look.

"What are you going to do now, Sire?" the adviser asked expectantly.

"It is time..." The dramatic king purposely put a suspenseful pause, as he loved when others paid all of their attention to him. King Thalvaron picked up his sword, something he has not done ever since he became a king.

The Demon King held up his sword and yelled ominously, "It is time to eliminate all of those Guardians, who have plagued this universe for far too long! I, King Thalvaron, declare war on the entire Guardian race!"
