Duncan and Nasima leaped down as Bryan followed behind. Tomoe had to stay back, and Ashley told him what he saw during the fight with Mordred.
"I don't know if you've noticed, but Mordred has got Elemental Energy Pool of her own, not mixing with Midori's Pool... But from what I've known, Mordred Pendragon was a created human, like a doll with human features. So she shouldn't have Magecraft in her blood," explained Ashley.
"I agree, but we might not have all the information needed to understand Mordred just yet fully. Even Mavislin doesn't know why Mordred has been summoned into Midori's body when her actual body is running around somewhere else."
"All we can do now is pray that Midori and Mordred get along so the Knight of Rebellion won't turn the Old Chapel into the Battle of Camlann," replied Tomoe, staring down at the pit.
At the bottom of the sinkhole, Duncan and Nasima had both summoned their weapons of choice. For Duncan, it was his go-to weapon given by the Ankou, an oversized scythe with skeletal remains. For Nasima, it was the spear she used against Amani at the final moment.
A Tick passed before both parties vanished from their spots and appeared again, clashing their weapons midair. The two were silent as they exchanged blows and tried to push one another to go on the defense. However, none of them were budging.
Nasima was quick, but Duncan could predict when the girl would strike and defend to attack while planning the next move. Duncan's strikes and slashes weren't as strong as Amani's, but they were still strong in their own right.
When Nasima stopped Duncan's kick using her spear, the boy thought it was a chance for him to strike the girl's head. But to everyone's amazement, Nasima merely pushed her spear towards Duncan's leg, causing the entire child to flip.
Duncan wasn't too happy about being air born as he backflipped for the landing. The two kids went again, starting with a mighty clash in which Nasima had jumped up to strike Duncan's head.
But, first, the boy thanked the Ankou for giving him a sturdy weapon as Nasima's strike was so powerful that Duncan's feet had cracked the ground.
Then, the child of darkness shifted the spear's weight so Nasima could lose her balance which was an opportune moment for him to kick the girl into the walls. But Duncan didn't stop there as he propelled forward and struck Nasima's spear so she wouldn't get a chance to land correctly.
After that, the two kids continued to fight without using Magecraft other than Blood Mastery to enhance their physicality. Meanwhile, as he was fighting, Duncan was chatting with the Reaper, who happened to be awake.
"Are you sure you don't want my help? It looks to me that you are on par with this baby," asked the Ankou, playing with his lockets.
"No, I'm doing quite fine by myself. I don't want to be like a twin and rely on the spirit to help me in my battles. It won't be fair to the other party," replied Duncan as he leaned against a tombstone.
"Hehehe... That's not your usual thinking... Little Lord. You are a person who couldn't care if the victim in front of you is an infant or the world's best sharpshooter. So long as they are your targets, you'll find any means to win the battle, not caring about how it's being fought."
"Morals don't cloud your judgment about how the battle is fought, nor do feelings. So long as the job has been done, it doesn't matter how it went. Or was I wrong about you, Little Lord?" laughed the Ankou before getting serious at the final question.
For the first time in a long while, Duncan found himself cornered by his thoughts and the Reaper's words. The child of darkness looked down at his feet as he could hear Nasima's spear nearly striking his head. Damn, he was being distracted by those conflicting thoughts...
Get a grip, future Dementor Pillar!
Hang on... That's right! Duncan was set to be the following First Seat Dementor Pillar, a department of the Barren Pillars where the whole point of existing is based on fighting strength no matter the cost. Even if it meant sacrificing your sanity to win the fight, so be it.
That is the motto of the Dementor Pillar. Duncan shouldn't be caring if it was righteous or fair... Instead, he should care if victory was in sight. If not, break down the wall of defeat to see the light of success. But wait...
Duncan couldn't shed blood or let his body fall onto the ground to win this fight. So how will he win against Nasima, whose strike power was more remarkable than Duncan's physical strength?
