Julian gulped as he saw the group of men surrounded Allen and one of them pointed a gun behind his head. He was certain that he would not be as calm as Allen if he were the one pointed with the gun. He was still too inexperienced and hot-headed compared to his seniors.
As if noticing his discomfort, Shelly patted his shoulder lightly. Both of them had been waiting inside a car from a place where they could see Allen's car since he went into the cartel's territory. It was not only today. They had been doing this since the day Allen started infiltrating the place. To put it bluntly, Allen had been their bait and they had been waiting for the cartel's members to become hooked.
After they had left the scene together with Allen, Shelly immediately reported to Ryan.
"Cap, they've taken Allen."
"Stay put for a while. Don't move until I say so."
Ryan replied from the special ear pieces Conwell Corps had provided. They were very small and not easy to be noticed at all.
While they were waiting here to support Allen in case the cartel members made any rush moves, their captain had been inside the territory all along. Both of them had been baits and yet Allen was unlucky enough to be the one being hooked.
After the men left, the surrounding got so quiet and Julian could even hear his watch ticking as seconds passed. He was worried for Allen and felt like it had been a millennium before he could hear Ryan say "Move".
It was easy to know where Allen had been taken as there was a device for both tracking and listening in Allen's shoe.
They were already in their disguises so they had no problem getting into the cartel's territory. Shelly even had a big scar on her cheek which seemed too dramatic in Julian's eyes.
Julian felt a moment of nervousness before he saw Shelly walking into the territory with confidence. Although he had no experience working undercover, he was still good at hiding his emotions.
Every one they encountered along the one did not spare them a second glance and continued on with their own tasks.
Suddenly, Shelly stopped inside an alley while she checked the device she was holding.
"They're in that building," she told Julian in a soft voice.
Just as she finished saying, a shadow appeared behind them and Julian immediately put up his guard.
"Not bad. You're fast."
Even after hearing his captain's voice, he was still not too convinced that the person standing in front of him was Ryan.
Ryan's head was covered with silver hair and his face was full of wrinkles. Even his back was a bit hunched and the clothes he was wearing were not better than a beggar's.
"There seem to be at least fifty men inside," Ryan continued.
He had arrived a few minutes earlier than his subordinates and he had already checked the surroundings.
"Will we be enough?" Julian asked. Aside from the people inside, there were five people guarding at the door.
He was someone who rely on facts and data, and the outcome of three people fighting against fifty-five did not even need to be calculated.
Ryan chuckled.
"The question is... will they be enough for me and Cap, kiddo."
Shelly interjected in a self-assured tone and winked at Julian. With the scar accompanying her words, she really seemed like a ruthless villainess.
"You are only here to gain experience. So, stay behind us and don't be reckless. Leave everything to me and your partner," Ryan said as he walked out of the alley.
Julian did not argue as he did not want to burden his seniors. He followed behind them obediently and decided to give them the best support he could.
They walked towards the building before they were stopped by the guards.
"Who are you?"
One of them asked as he stared rudely at Ryan. Ryan smiled widely making his golden tooth and the wrinkles on his face more apparent. No one would even guess that this sinister face belonged to the handsome captain of the central police department.
"Tell your boss that vulture's has come back."
"What?!"
Astonishment passed through the guards' eyes. Vulture was the leader of this group before he disappeared twenty years ago. All the sub-group leaders including Mr. Boni had been searching for him all these years.
"Can you prove that you are him?"
Although they had never seen the 'vulture', they could not just accept anyone as him.
"Any stronger proof than me standing beside him?" Shelly asked in a shrill voice.
This made the guards turned their attention to her.
Fiery red hair and a large scar across her cheek...
The guards felt a chill ran down their spines.
"Gai... Gaia???"
"Oh! You still remember my name and yet you dare to stop me???"
"But didn't you die?"
They all thought that this crazy woman had died five years ago in a gang war.
"Did you guys see my corpse? Huh?"
Shelly grabbed the mouth of the guard who questioned her and her other hand holding a cold steel dagger. The man trembled with fear while the other guards were at a loss in what to do.
"So, this is the mouth that said I died? Don't blame me for cutting you filthy tongue, my dear."
"We'll take you... We'll take you to Mr. Boni. Follow me."
One of the guards said. They all knew that they were no match to this woman and that she would not hesitate do what she said. She became the right-hand woman of Mr. Boni because of her decisiveness even though she was a woman. Although none of them had direct interactions with Gaia before, they had always heard of her cruel and insane methods in dealing with her enemies. Even the children in the cartel would stop crying in an instant when they heard the name 'Gaia'.
The guard led them upstairs to Mr. Boni's room. However, they were stopped by a middle-aged man before they entered the room.
"Stop."
He scrutinized the three strangers behind the guard.
"Gaia?"
Unlike the guards, he was close to this woman as he had worked together with her for many times before she died.
"Hello, dear."
Shelly greeted with a flirty wink.
"How come you're alive?"
He asked as he frowned in disdain because of the wink. Although the appearance and the demeanor exactly matched the 'Gaia' he knew, he had personally seen her getting shot in the head.
"You sound like you don't wanna see me alive," Shelly asked as she narrowed her eyes while exuding a dangerous aura.
She played with the dagger skillfully in one hand and walked towards the man.
"It seemed you didn't miss me at all, dear?"
As the man saw the dagger in her hand, he became more confused as he was familiar with this dagger which the crazy woman used to gut bowels and slash throats.
'There's no doubt that this is Gaia's dagger but is this woman really Gaia?' he thought.
"Of course not. I was just surprised to see you. Why are you so short-tempered as always?"
The man grinned as he tried to calm the woman down.
Julian could not help but admire Shelly for her acting skills. Little did he know that she was having a crisis inside.
'What the heck? Will someone tell me who the heck is he? Why the hell is he asking so many questions? Didn't he say that all the guys who were familiar with Gaia are not here anymore?'
And although, she had been practicing how to handle this dagger for the past days, she was still not confident with her skills at all.
"Just let us get into the room, will you? There will be time to reminisce our past after I've dealt my business," Shelly spoke in a cold tone.
"Right," the man answered as he opened the door.
It would not be too late to deal with her after letting Mr. Boni decide if she was really Gaia or not. They only have three people anyway.
"Mr. Boni, there are some guests," the man announced.
At that time, little did he know that he was letting wolves into their base.
