Eight years later
Today is the day of the graduation exam… If everything goes well, I'm going to become a ninja. Putting my life on the line for the village will be a common thing from now on. It's exciting, but worrying at the same time.
I surely have enough experience By now… taking into account what I've gone through for the past thirteen years.
Feeling my breathing accelerate, I sat down cross-legged and entered a meditative state. Soon, I found myself in front of a slumbering Shukaku.
Smiling, I raised my hands and yelled.
"Wake-up sleepy head!"
Hearing my voice, Shukaku furrowed his brows and reluctantly opened his eyes. You could see the disgust in his expression.
"Not again… When will you stop coming here to disturb my great self!? Am I a joke to you!? I should've never given you chakra, to begin with…"
"Come on, don't make that face. Aren't we friends?"
"FRIENDS?! With a human?! Don't make me laugh! I don't want to have anything to do with you!"
Shukaku murmured some curses and turned around, facing the opposite direction. Like usual, he lied down and remained silent, refusing to even look at me. It had been this way for a long while now.
"Haa… How troublesome."
Sighing, I looked at my surroundings. Being inside my mindscape is always incredible.
Beneath my feet, I could see my reflection, and every time I took a step forward a small ripple would form beneath my feet. This place was somewhat similar to Naruto's but without any walls.
Around Shukaku were a bunch of golden spikes that formed a circle, encasing him. Although it looked like he could come out anytime, there's some sort of restriction that restrains him.
If it wasn't for that I'd probably be dead by now, heh.
Sometime last year, after a lot of meditation, I gained the ability to freely enter this place. Shukaku isn't a fan of it, but I'm sure that if I keep annoying him he'll eventually accept me.
I'm planning on making him used to me so that he subconsciously comes rot see me as a friend, and eventually as an equal. A good plan if I may say so myself, mhm.
Anyways, I come here every day to meditate. After all, this is the best spot to do so, with no distractions whatsoever. I have progressed exponentially thanks to this, and I can feel my chakra reserves getting bigger every day.
Of course, to hold all that chakra, a proper container is needed. I haven't been slacking with my Taijutsu training, in fact, I'm having a spar with Shira today. Fists only.
Although to use Shukaku's chakra, I still need his permission… And I don't see myself using the cloak unless my life is in immediate danger. It's really a shame…
Organizing my thoughts, I sat back and relaxed for a while. The past eight years could only be described with one word… Peaceful.
Ever since the Akatsuki attacked, nothing interesting really happened. My life has been a constant cycle of attending the academy, training with Shira, learning with my father, and meditating. You could say that I've been living like a monk.
Speaking of which… Rasa's training has been very fruitful. I made sure to learn everything he could teach me, and the results… We'll see soon enough, hehe.
"Ahh… I could get used to this. Peace is a gift."
(Shukaku's POV: There he goes again, talking to himself. Oh great Sage, what have I done to deserve this? As soon as his mind slips I'll possess him and…)

All my hard work has paid off. With these stats, there is no genuine in the world that would dare come up against me. You could say that I am a little bit overpowered.
Well, Gaara was overpowered in the original series, so I guess this was to be expected.
Anyways, although this is a great milestone, I must train harder! Who said the road to Kazekage was easy!

[1] Sand control stands for all the techniques under that category not requiring much more steps. Like the sand burial and sand coffin. The third eye requires the connection of nerves through chakra so that's considered an extra step.

AN: Well, there it is. I am sorry for not posting in so long, life gets in the way.
Anyways, now that I'm back, expect a chapter every three days or so, studies are back.
Also, I would appreciate if one of you could tell me about what's going on here? Did the site get rid of the fanfic genre? I'm confused.
