Waking Up

Jihan could not feel anything as the darkness claimed him, he felt tired again but his eyes were already closed. It felt like a fatigue one would have for life... He felt emotions that he never thought he had before overwhelmed him all at once... pain, sorrow, horror, loneliness, hate, anger but most importantly despair... an overwhelming amount of despair.

His heart felt as if it wanted to tear its self apart at the amount of despair he felt. For the first time that he could remember he wanted to cry, and he could not put it into words why he felt like this. Everything around him was just pitch black, like an abyss of dark ess, even darker... Like a void..

" Looks like he should wake up within a few hours," Dr. Ju said after examing Jihan from top to bottom.

" I still cannot believe it, he healed so fast.. Its simply monstrous... Someone probably not even in the soul refinement realm could heal this fast" Su Chen stated gazing at the Jihan on the bed.

It had been nearly 2 hours since Su Chen had sent his daughter home, knowing that very soon the boy would wake and it would be best not to overwhelm him with troubles as soon as he opens his eyes. Best to take things slowly, Su Chen thought as he inhaled air.

He knew the task they took upon the self would be monstrous at first but would ease out eventually, knowing that the lad went through the blood rite ritual...

It seemed kinda like he and his father were the villains here where they took it upon themselves to decide for the kid how he would live the rest of his life out next. The didn't even know the kid was in the first place!

"Su Chen, get ready it looks like he is waking up early than expected" Dr.Ju pulled him out of his thoughts, gesturing for Su Chen to stand next to him in front of the bed.

They both try to best be presentable, it looked almost ironic... They gave up almost their complete life spans to this kid yet the acting... As if they are 10-year-old kids, but they knew that in the future it would either be worth it... Or a major disaster.

Jihan woke from his sleep, his brain completely felt fuzzy at the moment and his eyes burnt, but what made him feel comfortable was the softness he was lying on. He never felt anything like it in his life before. and what irritated him at the same time were his eyes, it was the sleepy eyes one had after having too little sleep only to wake up to blood red burning eyes.

It felt like he jumped into the cold water and tried opening his eyes to only be awoken by the intense sting in his eyes. He tried rubbing the burn away but it was still there, everything in his vision was a blur... He yawned and realized he must have been sleeping a while since he could remember vividly the weird of dreams he had recently.

He tried scanning the room with his blurry vision as it became clearer by the second. He noticed he was lying in was seemed to be a squared shaped soft animal skin stone. He never knew what he was lying on, but it felt extremely comfortable and warm, he wished he had something like this in a treehouse when he lived in the forest 3 years ago...

3 years ago? How did I know what three years are?? Wait what am I saying ? … that's when it hit Jihan that he could speak in his mind like a similar manner to when he scouted out the inhabitants of the village.. but before he could get further lost in his thoughts and dwell on his newfound ability to speak to himself. He scanned the room with his eyes.

He traced his eyesight across the room and noticed light almost making him flinch shining into the room from a window on his right side, and a door that was closed to his left. The walls were a yellowish color and the room had a thick medicinal herb scent to its mixture of moist air.

But before he could admire this strange and warm place further. A light cough came from his rearview and he noticed there were two people standing in front of him.

They were looking at him in amazement. Like he was some type of new animal that they never saw in their entire life. Panicked started slowly building up in Jihan and he started backing up in the bed. He realized he was blocked by the wall, and he clutched the animal furthers tightly to himself and tried to hide them from these people...

"Ahhh shit, there u go an went to scare the shit out of him Su Chen" Dr. Ju glared at Su Chen.

"Me?? U the one looking at him like he is some time of new animal!?" Su Chen exclaimed through gritted teeth as he tried talking and keeping a smiling face at the same time.

Jihan was shocked out of his mind… he was actually shivering in fear, he could actually understand what they were saying, every exact word.. before he could not understand a single thing, but now… it was different.

" Don't be afraid lad, we mean no harm.." Su Chem sighed as he saw the panic-stricken face of the boy.

" You saved my daughter from the wolf attack, and he saw that u got injured. We took u back to our village and heal you up. So as you can see we mean no harm. My name Is Su Chen, I am the Village Chief. the girl u saved is my daughter Su Nuan" Su Chen finished, letting the lad absorb everything first before doing anything or even making a single movement.

This sudden bit of information was already too much for Jihan to comprehend as he realized he truly knew what the were saying.. he was even afraid to speak back to the village chief since he is never spoken before maybe only the two words he kept repeating Jihan and Survive.

But it seemed like the two old guys were waiting for him to say something, they seem to be expecting an introduction from him.

"I…my … name is Jihan" Jihan said timidly, not even used to his own voice.

The voice never sounded either pitched or too deep, it was the voice expected to come from a handsome face such as Jihan.

"Ahh, he has a name. " Dr.Ju said looking at Su Chen.

"Jihan. Interesting name ? u don't have a family name ? or is Jihan your family name ? maybe Ji? And Han? Or Han and Ji? …." Su Chem sudden bombardment of words made Jihan's head spin, he tried to think about what was said but he suddenly though f what was being said and shook his head.

Realizing that maybe he asked too much of the lad, Su Chen changed the subject" Have u got a family? Do u come from a village? " Su Chen asked, but he saw that the boy just shook his head.

"You saying u staying alone? where ? the plains? the forest? " both Su Chen and Dr.Ju was shocked at the sudden premonition.

" what about wild beasts? How did u survive ?" Su Chen asked in an amazement voice.

" Wild Beasts? I don't know what those are…??" Jihan replied.
