Comeback (II)

"Uncle Tek! Why do I feel someone has been on our trail for the past three days?" asked Ru Ran to her personal bodyguard assigned to her by her father.

"I have noticed as well but I did not detect any malice or evil intention from the person plus it seems he can conceal himself well. Only once a while his presence can be felt and that seems to be done on purpose to as of to inform us of his presence, so his identity might not be that simple I'm afraid but there is also another group of people but this group smell trouble," Yun Tek Wah replied. He sighed at his Young miss fate, now dressed as a male with danger lurking left and right. She could have more personnel with her but she insist only on having him because of trust issues and as well as she did not want to stand out.

Ru Ran fell into a deep thought, just few days ago, she wanted to come out of the closet, but she cannot find the right method, she felt like she was running out of time. Yet, she really do not know the best method to do it. She needed a lifeline, an extended hand, and now she discovered had been followed. How annoying! Has her uncle found her? She really wanted to put on a play and wanted to have the upperhand with an element of surprise.

As she was deep in thought, she suddenly felt a swift movement went pass her and Uncle Tek left to chase after that figure and before she could recover, she was grabbed by a hand and she did not know why but they started to run, real fast. Her brain did not have time to kick into survivor mode, because everything happened at such fast pace.

The next thing she knew she was running along and she was brought into a dark alley, and she was swiftly slammed against a hard chest, and her back pressed against the cold wall. As she was about to retort and pushed the person away, a warm, big, callous hand clamped over her mouth and hot air was felt at her ear when she heard his low husky voice, "Shh. I am not your enemy. Stay quiet for awhile. Trust me."

He was too close, she could feel his breath and breathe in his scent, it felt foreign yet familiar, her heart started to race, a pink blush crept onto her cheek but too bad, the other person could not see. Something about this man, felt familiar, however, she could not be sure. At the same time, she scolded her heart and brain for being useless at such critical moment. She do not even know if this man can be trusted, but her instinct told her he can. She is someone who relies heavily on instinct to succeed especially when it comes to stock trading and the stock market. If not how could she be this successful.

She scolded her heart even more, even so this man is still a stranger and she should never let her guard down against a stranger. Just as her brain and heart were engaged in a battle, she heard a few rustling footsteps and heard men panting and talking in crude English language.

"Where did that brat go? Boss will so pissed off with us if he knew we lost him. Boss had been violent lately due to his losses, he told us to bring that brat no matter what! What is so great about that brat? Scrawny looking, good for nothing!"

"Stupid!"

Then that was followed by a yelp of pain.

She held in her breath, the man towering over her, held her closer to him, in a protecting stance. She could hear his steady heartbeat, and weirdly it had a soothing effect.

She reprimanded her brain again for failing to put up guard against the man, once again.

"You are so stupid! That is why you will always be just a henchman. Let me tell you, that scrawny kid is a financial genius, boss asked to kidnap him so that he can work for him and earn him big bucks! Anyway, this alley gives me the creeps, there is no one here, let's go!"

The hand that clammed her mouth loosened and his posture relaxed but he did not release her immediately and she did not push him away in fear that those people that were looking for her/him would return. After being in that position for another few minutes and she was truly sure those people would not come around looking for her, she shoved him away.

"Who are you? Why did you help me?" she asked.

Instead of getting a reply, she heard a low chuckle.

Shit, this guy is a cut sleeved pervert. Damn! She instinctively took her arms and covered her body and then took a defensive stance.

She heard him laughed louder, this time without any restrain.

"You are the same little girl that only know how to use me and then you leave without taking responsibility, akin to peanut forgetting its skin,"

Her guard immediately went on a high alert. This man knew she is a girl but what little girl, what peanut rubbish! When did she eat his tofu? Is he some sick delusional psycho?

"What rubbish are you talking about? Who is a little girl, your eyes need checking! Number two, take what responsibility? I don't know you! I thank you for your help earlier and I wish to part on good terms, so please don't spout anymore nonsense," she said sharply.

"It seems you need your memories refreshed, 20 years ago, you barged into my room and my bed, stole a kiss from me not once but twice. And 18 years back, I saved you from the bunch of gangster kids who bullied you and you almost drown, when you woke up, in your daze you gave me a kiss as a token of appreciation. I am Shen Ji Yu. Now, tell me, Du Ru Ran, how is it that you are able to steal my heart and yet you have no recollection of me at all? How can you be so heartless?" he said in a matter of fact tone.

Ru Ran searched her memory box and only to remember indeed she had done all those that he had accuse her of, but.. but.. What bullshit about her stealing his heart? And how on earth does he know its her? She checked her appearance once more, to see if she wore the wrong outfit out today.

"You.. You are sickly handsome boy! How did you know its me?" she asked as curiosity got the better of her

"Wang Lei gege and my mother are friends. I have always kept a tab on you, these past few days, if not because of those mafia following you around, I would not have made my appearance so early, I wanted to wait for Wang Lei gege to give us a formal introduction," he explained.

Wang Lei did mentioned about Madam Shen and her son before and how he used to update them about her as they were concern. At that time, she did not take anything to heart. Before she could digest all his information and make sense of things, he added," Since now that you know I exist, I demand that you be responsible for matters of years ago."

She spluttered and cough as she choked on her own saliva. What an embarrassment. She scolded him internally for speaking nonsense.

"I thank you for your help, but seriously, who takes responsibility for a kiss by a five year old?" she asked in an incredulous tone.

"I do. I am that person and you are the person responsible for it, " he insisted.

"Since you know Wang Lei gege well and you know about my circumstances, you would know that I have only one aim in life! That is to seek the truth and get my revenge!" she said.

"I know and my only aim is to have you by my side. All these years, never once I have forgotten the little girl that slept in my arm, and I vow to be strong and no longer sickly so that I can protect her." he said in a serious tone.

"Why can't you leave me alone? I really have no time, no room for another person. I am pretty occupied with getting my revenge. Go and fly away," she said while making the hand gestures of shooing a pesky fly away.

"You really don't need to work hard on my behalf, I am touched that you worry about my well being and feeling. As long as I get to see you, that is all I require. You really don't have to do anything."

Ru Ran felt her head is going to explode, shameless, when did I, how on earth did he manage to lift himself so high that even direct language don't get to his thick skull? Fine, if you don't want to leave, I will walk away.

True to her thoughts she walked away huffing and puffing, fuming at the fly she can't get off.

"Wifey wait up!!!"

"Seriously, what do you see in me?" she asked impatiently.

Instead of answering her immediately, he spun he around to face him, pushed her to lean against a nearby wall, locked her body with his legs and arm in order to stop her from escaping. His facial expression turn serious, gone the silly demeanor he had put up earlier.

Her heartbeat increased and her palms started to sweat. She stuttered, "What.. What.. Just what do you plan to do? Don't look down on me and think I am some weak lamb, I have some moves hidden up my sleeve," she warned him.

He chuckled, and then turned serious, "I am going to answer your question. Look me in the eyes. I see a beautiful lady, a stubborn one, cold exterior but inside she is kind and afraid to get hurt. She gave me a kiss 20 years ago and gave me the strength to live and from that day onwards, I have given my heart to her."

Ru Ran was taken aback by his sudden movement and confession. She had already been surprised awhile ago with all his words but the words she just heard took things to a higher level.

Seeing her in a daze, he continued to speak," That day when you were hospitalised, I was truly weakened to a state I really did not want to live, but our fateful encounter gave me a new strength, something to look forward to, a reason to get better and a reason to live. Your revenge is your fuel to propel forward and you are my fuel."

"Du Ru Ran, let me lend you my strength, my shoulder, my ear and you can have my whole body as well since you already own my heart. You are not alone, I won't stop you from achieving your goal and I promise to assist you," he said trying to convince her.

"How do I know, you are telling the truth and this is not some trick Uncle Du is playing?"
