Lesser spotted eagle

Ai Sha was awaken by the commotion at the door, she recognised Shin Tong's voice. She does not know how to face Shin Tong because Shin Tong had been right about her crossing Shin Tong's bottom line.

Shin Tong did not know what was going through Ai Sha's mind but was surprised to see a badly battered Ai Sha lying on the bed. This sort of beating, wasn't it too excessive? A sudden anger rose from within and it was towards that Han Tian Cheng. Who would have known, such man, always seemingly gentle and amiable could be a monster.

Her heart unknowingly softened by 50% as she approached Ai Sha. Ai Sha stared at her waiting for some sort of mockery and judgement while Shin Tong kept quiet waiting for Ai Sha to be all fake and nice. Her impression of Ai Sha was never good, she had always felt Ai Sha was too superficial and not sincere. The silent atmosphere was deafening to a point that it made everyone in room uncomfortable. Ken cleared his throat wanting to speak to try and ease the atmosphere but before he could say a word, the door was opened.

"Hi, oh.. I didn't think there be many people here because it was really quiet from out there. I knocked a few times but there was no reply," said Ru Ran as she pop her head in.

Since she received no reply, she walked right in inviting herself and went straight to stand beside Ai Sha. Ji Yu came in right after with home cooked food packed from home. Ken let out a breath of relief. With these two present, he is sure Shin Tong won't be kicking up much of a fuss.

"Sha, how are you feeling?" asked Ru Ran lightly while squeezing Ai Sha's hand.

"It's okay," whispered Ai Sha. Tears started to form at the corner of her eyes and her throat felt moist. She held those in and stabilised her mood. She is happy that Ru Ran kept to her words to give them a chance and it was not just a dream or a fragment of her imagination.

"The soup is for you, I brew it especially for you, it's good for blood circulation and helps with recovery," Ru Ran cheerfully add on.

Ji Yu then placed the thermos he was holding to Ken, indirectly saying, serve your lover. Ken turn to look at Ru Ran appreciatively. Ru Ran nod her head as a sign of acknowledging his gratitude.

"Its stuffy in here with so many people, why don't you guys, ya, the ones with testosterone leave us female to chat, once we are done, Ken you help Ai Sha with lunch. The food is enough for you as well" said Ru Ran.

With that the guys got kicked out of the room. Ken was reluctant to leave but after being pushed out of the room by Ji Yu he had to relent plus he trust Ru Ran.

The room once again was silent. Ru Ran then excused herself to the washroom to freshen up to give the two woman whom she cares to talk it out.

"She did it on purpose!" blabbered Shin Tong.

"Darren must have ratted on me and told Ji Yu we'd be coming here, she couldn't bear to see you suffer any injustice that she had to come," mumbled Shin Tong in a dissatisfied tone.

"My bedtime story had always been about the lesser spotted eagles, how they lay two eggs and second egg is the spare. If both hatches, when the parents go hunting, the first born would push the second born down the tall tree and the second born would end up dying. I was told I was the second born and will always be the second born if I don't work hard, if I slack off, and any point once Ru Ran is back, she will destroy me to gain everything that I have. My whole life, I am constantly reminded that I'd never be good enough, and the things I have is only temporary only to be snatched away once she comes back to get it. Only be dealing with her, I can achieve success and truly be the first born. Miss Shin Tong, what would you do if you were in my place," asked Ai Sha quietly.

Ai Sha felt her jaw sore and her scars hurt for talking so much but she really have to clear the air between her and Shin Tong because she doesn't want Ru Ran to feel stuck in between.

Shin Tong listened carefully not wanting to miss a single word as Ai Sha's voice was soft. She knew Ai Sha had used quite a lot of energy just to say those words. This Ai Sha is not the same phoney Ai Sha that she knew.

"I didn't come for the past, I came to determine if you are a threat to her or my family," Shin Tong said quietly.

"You, take care, once you are up and about, maybe we'll talk again, with you injured, talking is hard, and I'm deaf, I can't hear you properly. Get better fast, then we'll meet up to talk. My bottom line has always been family and friends, as long as a person doesn't cross it, I won't be bothered by that person. When she comes out, just tell her, I have something to do!" said Shin Tong before turning to leave.

Ai Sha gave a weak smile, she knew with Shin Tong's personality, that Shin Tong had let her off and is willing to accept her in their circle. She had also warned her that she definitely won't let her go if she does anything to hurt Ru Ran.

Ru Ran came out of the washroom the moment Shin Tong left.

"Thank you," said Ai Sha.

"For the soup? It's no big deal, I'm kind of jobless right now. Eh, Shin Tong left?" Ru Ran said with a smile. She acted as if she did not know what happened between Ai Sha and Shin Tong.

Ai Sha decided to drop the subject since the other party wanted to act clueless, but this sort of thing, she cannot help but feel grateful for the consideration shown to her. Hence she replied, "En."

"I'll get Ken to help feed you, Ji Yu has some business he has to attend, we will be leaving first. Sha just focus on getting better, the rest just let Ken settle it." said Ru Ran.

Ai Sha could not help but follow Ru Ran's movement with her eyes till Ru Ran was out of the door. The tears she had been holding in fell. No wonder when she was growing up, despite surrounded by many and was constantly reminded by her parents that they love her, she never truly felt much. However, the care that Ken had shown plus the gentleness and consideration Ru Ran had given her, it surpasses everything she had in life before. She quickly wipe those tears because she knew the man who has nothing to do with her will soon come in and may end up distress upon seeing her tears. Maybe she should clarify with him their relationship but what if she is the one who is too full of herself, wouldn't she lose him?

Ken was surprised to see Shin Tong marching towards Darren and in a swift mood, Darren was dragged away by her. Shin Tong definitely doesn't appear to be happy. In his heart, he is rejoice he is not Darren and he does not need to deal with Shin Tong. Soon, he saw Ru Ran leaving the ward as well while gesturing for him to return to Ai Sha's side.

Ji Yu reminded him gruffly to finish the food that Ru Ran had cooked and not to waste not even a drop, bla bla bla bla... Because my wife had been slaving in the kitchen for hours for it. Ken shook his head, trying to get rid of Ji Yu's reminder. As he was about to enter, his men had already return with the food he ordered but since Ji Yu's reminder is fresh in his mind, he waved his hands and told them to eat instead. Just for his peace, he really need to make sure they finish Ru Ran's cooking or else it'd be endless nagging from Ji Yu.
