Chapter 6: The Library

A few hours later Peter and I were ready to leave with all our supplies put together. We had a carriage set up with the rest of the stuff we needed that wouldn't fit on an extra horse's back. I gave instructions to my guards to keep my castle safe while we were gone and told them where we were going. We waved good bye and we were off. As we were riding, for some reason Peter couldn't stop looking at me. A few hours later we came across a small oasis like place and stopped there to rest and to let our horses drink water and graze on the grass. I took off my clothes and went for a swim. Peter stood by his horse while it was eating and just watched me swim. I looked back and saw Peter staring at me. I turned towards him and I spread my wings. I walked towards him. I got really close to his face closed my wings and said, "Why don't you go for a swim? It feels good." He just smiled and said, "No thanks I can't go for a swim." I looked at him and smiled. I asked him "why not?" Peter just walked away he went behind a big oak tree. I went towards it to see what Peter was doing and I was surprised he was whacking it and kept saying "queen Sayaka you're such a tease you make me do this." I flew up and came towards Peter, grabbed him and let him go in the lake. I landed back on the shore and started to laugh. He was mad at first and then he started laughing. He came towards me grabbed me and pinned me to the big oak tree he turned me over and thrusted me he was so hard I was trying not to yell. He was so hard and good it was 2 hours later he was about to explode that he was going to pull out I didn't want him to I grabbed it turned and looked at Peter as he exploded inside of me. After getting refreshed and clean we got on our horses and headed toward the library. Two weeks later we made it to the library. Our faces were covered by our hoods. We got off our horses and I walked towards the monks while Peter stayed near his. I pulled my hood back and they all bowed in respect to me. The master of the monks came towards me. "Sayaka, my dear. How have you been? It's been awhile since your last visit. My have you grown since then." He paused and analyzed me for a second. "I see you have recently had heartache." He continued. I looked at him and said, "Yes Uther, I recently lost someone I truly cared about." Then Uther looked at Peter and said, "What is the state of your visit princess?" I bowed to Uther and said, "Your holiness, we want to read from the library of knowledge." Uther nodded and he said, "You remember the rule princess. You can read from the books but must not take any books out of the library." He looked at me and Peter and we both nodded. "Right this way, your majesty." Uther said as he turned around to guide us to the opening of the building. I turned to Peter and said, "Grab the horses." Peter then grabbed the rope of both our horses, and he led them to the left and right side of himself as we walked behind the monk. The carriage we brought with us with all the rest of our supplies was attached to his horse. The monk showed us through the gates and towards the entrance of the library. We walked towards this old building. It looked like it was going to collapse. That was when Peter said to me, "Your majesty, is that the library?" I just nodded, smiled and said, "Don't judge a book by its cover." We went into the building. The inside looks a lot bigger than it does on the outside. The look on Peter's face was priceless. He was shocked to see the inside look so nice compared to the outside. He looked like a little kid in a candy market. The first thing he saw was my family history. There was a family tree painted on the wall that almost took up an entire wall of the Library. There was also a big book about one foot long and weighed about 1500 lbs. It was made of leather with the insignia D.V. overlapping each other. Peter looks at me and said, "Your highness who is D.V.?" I stopped in my tracks turned to face Peter and said, "D.V. is my grandfather. It stands for Donovan Vampira." Peter looked at me with a confused look on his face and said, "Vampira I thought your family name was Dracul?" I closed my eyes and said, "We had to change our family's name when we moved to Verelandra because my grandfather did monstrous things. We didn't want him to find us, so we had to change our family name." Peter just nodded and hugged me, and one tear fell from my eye. I wiped it away and said, "Go find what you are looking for I'll be waiting for you over on that couch." Peter nodded and went off looking for those books. I was resting on the couch trying to sleep a little but for some reason I couldn't. Three hours passed since Peter went off looking for those books, so I got up and went looking for Peter. I finally found him and when I did, I saw that he was knee deep in books I said, "Peter! There you are. I've been looking for you everywhere." I walked over all the books and closer to him. He turned to me and said, "Ma petite fille Sayaka." Then he turned back around reading from the book in his hands. I remember hearing that word before when I was a child. I remember my grandfather saying it. So, I grabbed Peter turned him around and said, "Where did you hear that word?" Peter showed me the book he was reading. There were books without an author, I read, and it said, "It's October 28, 1590. My older son, Baldassare, said that his wife is close to giving birth. The baby is due any day now. His lovely wife is 9 months pregnant with my youngest grandchild. I can't wait to meet him or her. They have not told me weather the baby is a boy or girl yet, but I will find out when it is born. Being a grandfather is the only thing that matters to me. I will die to protect my family. D.V." I started crying as I read that page because he was writing about me, so I kept reading it, "October 31, 1590. Iezabel is in labor. I'm here with my son trying to make him calm. But he keeps pacing back and forth and won't listen to me. As I'm trying to calm him down the doctor comes out with a blanket. The baby is wrapped in it. He said it's a girl. I look at her and she smiles. Ma petite fille. She has her grandmother's eyes. D. V." I fell to the ground as I kept reading his journals Peter was next to me and he said, "How could he be such a monster and yet love you so much." I was so confused and then I read something that was recent it said, "July 8, 1825. I just found out that my family is dead, and they changed the family name. As I told them to do so, but my little poison berry is alive, she is going to be queen. It's unbelievable that she is 235 years old now. D.V." I got up and threw the journal across the hallway of books and started pacing. Peter grabbed me, shook me and said, "Snap out of it. So, he's alive? Isn't that a good thing? He might not be as bad as you think." I nodded calmed down and said, "You don't understand. Anyway, did you find the book of potion you were looking for?" Peter nodded and said, "Yes I found it 2 hours ago." I nodded and said, "We should go rest and tomorrow we can come back down here and read some more." Peter nodded. We were heading out of the library and Uther walked towards us and said, "Did you find everything you were looking for?" I looked at Uther and said, "No, not everything. We are going to come back tomorrow. We just need some rest Uther." Uther nodded and said, "But of course Princess. I know that I do not have to stress to you and your friend what our library rules are." I smiled and nodded. I looked at Peter and said, "Yes, I do." I paused for a second then continued," Peter look, there are rules here that I didn't explain to you yet. So, since we're going to stay here until we're done, I'm going to stay in a room by myself and you have to spend the nights with the monks." Peter's eyes almost popped out of his head. Then he nodded. "Come with me. I'll show you where our quarters are and which bunk, you'll be sleeping in." Said Uther. "A bunk I haven't slept in one of those since I was a squire boy." Replied Peter. Then walked with Uther to the Monk's quarters. I giggled and waved good-bye. "Goodnight Sir Peter." I said smiling. He turned around with a bit of a smug look and said, "Good night, your majesty." Then I headed to my room. As I was about to unlock the door I froze. Last time I was here it was with my parents. I put my hand on the doorknob and closed my eyes, remembering my parents. I opened my eyes then opened the door. When I went in it looked like we had never left. Everything was the same and nothing was changed. They kept it clean but that was it. I walked towards the bed and I laid down on it and fell asleep right away without getting under the covers or sheets. The next day I woke up, took a blood pill and went outside. I started to walk towards the garden in the front of the Library. I saw this big whipping willow tree right in the middle. I sat down in front of it with my back facing it, crossed my legs and started meditating.

As I was meditating, I was having a vision. I was at James' father's castle as if I was looking at him from another's eyes. King James II looked at me. It was dark and he said, "My darling son, you will be named Prince Jacob." In this vision I was Jacob but as a baby. I wonder what made him change his name to his father's name. Maybe his father changed it before he was old enough to know what his name was. As he held the child, I saw Queen Marishka. Her expression was tender and kind as a mother's should be. Then I started to hear Peters voice in the distance and then I opened my eyes and there stood Peter. He looked at me confused. I stood up, looked at him and said, "What's the matter Peter? You look like you've seen a ghost." Peter just looked at me and said, "Well your majesty, when you were meditating you was floating in the air with this purple flame around you." I didn't answer him. I just started walking straight for the library. When we got to the library's doors there was a blue rose tied to the door handle, when I saw it, I froze. I was confused. I untied it from the doorknob and opened the door, but I didn't walk in. I knew it was my grandfather Donovan Vampira. I must get him to leave me alone.

I looked around me but didn't see anyone. Peter went inside and when I was about to enter, I heard someone saying, "Sayaka my little poison berry, you've grown up so much." I quickly turned around. There was this thin, handsome man who looked to be around 30 years old. He was slowly walking towards me. I started to back up towards the library then Pater came towards me and got in front of me with his sword towards the man. The man stopped in his tracks and said, "Well I see that you have guards with you. Very good Sayaka. It's always good to protect yourself." I put my hand on top of Peter's sword and lowered it. "Who are you and how do you know my name?" I asked the man. He smiled and laughed, "The reason I know your name is because I'm your grandfather. I'm not that surprised that you don't recognize me after all these years." I looked surprised and scared and said, "Donovan Vampira what are you doing here? You've murdered a lot of innocent people for your thirst of blood." He looked at me with a confused look and said, "What are you talking about sweet heart? I would never hurt any innocent people." I was so angry I yelled, "SO THEN WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! THAT MY FATHER LIED TO ME?!" My eyes turned blood red with anger. He came towards me, put his hands on my shoulders, shook me and said, "Yes, he lied because I told him to. To protect you." I pushed him off me and said, "Protect me? Protect me from what?" Donovan looked behind him and said, "We should take this conversation inside Sayaka. Being inside the library with the doors closed would be safer." So, I nodded, and we all walked in the library. "Come Peter." I said. "Yes, your majesty." He replied. As we were walking in, I looked at Peter and said, "Why didn't you stop him from reaching for me? That could have been a fatal attack." "I don't know. I'm sorry your majesty. He moved too fast. He had his hands on your shoulders before I realized it. I am sorry for not being fast enough. You know your safety is important to me." He replied. For a moment or two I was unsure, but I guess I saw his point. Peter is still human. Even with being a solider and having magical powers he still has slower reflexes then a vampire would, or at least slower reflexes then mine and Donovan's. "We will talk about this later." I told him. "Yes, your majesty. I understand." He replied. I looked back at the man. He looked so much like my father. I had many thoughts going through my head. With these thoughts I felt anger. I turned around and slapped Donovan then said, "How dare you come back after all these centuries? I know nothing about you. Everything I knew about you was just lies. All of it." I guess he felt bad for being gone for so long. He started to cry. He fell to his knees and said, "Please forgive me. Please forgive what I have done. I should not have done this to you. You are the future queen of the vampires and should be treated with all the respect that I can give. I have not done that for you, and I am truly sorry for that." I looked surprised. "Future queen?" I asked. "What are you talking about? I already am the Queen of my kingdom." I said to him firmly.

Donovan calmed down a little then stood up. He wiped away his tears and took a big breath to help him calm down a bit more. "Because you are." He told me. "But it's not just the one kingdom." He continued. "It's many. It's more like being an emperor, really. Would you want it or not?" I was in a bit of a shock. "The one who was supposed to be queen of all vampires was my sister Sakura. Not me." Donovan just looked at me and said, "Yes. Sakura was supposed to be the next queen. But with her gone the next line of succession has passed down to you. That's just how it works when it comes to things like this. So, you must be the next queen now. I know you probably don't want to because it seems like a big reasonability but that's how it is and how it always has been for thousands of years." I looked back and at Peter. He just stood there, looking at me and said, "Your majesty, you are a queen. A true ruler. You are ready to be queen of all the vampires. This is just a bigger tittle. You know I will always be here to help you all the way through when and if you need it." I turned back to Donovan and said, "Donovan." I cleared my throat and continued, "Um. I mean grandfather. If taking on this role is what my family has always done, then I'll do it. I'm not sure how good I'll do but I'll do my best. This might actually help me out in what I am trying to accomplish." "That's the spirit Sayaka. And don't worry. You can do it. You've done a good job with what you have so far. Plus, you have Peter here to help you. Along with me of course." He came in to hug me when I stepped back and said, "No. No hugs. Besides, I just started being queen of this kingdom. I had to work to get it back. It wasn't easy. It's no walk in the park. I've been queen for barely a year. And remember, I still don't know you as a family member. Until I get to know you more, I will have to keep a close eye on you. I hope you understand that." "Yes, of course. I understand. And you're right." He said with a bow of his head. "We must leave towards Dracul castle to get ready for your coronation." He continued. "No." I told him. He had a confused look on his face. "It took us too long to get here. We are going to stay here until we find everything that we need to find out." I continued. I turned to Peter and said, "Peter. Go back down to where the books are and continue your research. I don't care how long it takes just do your research." "Yes, your majesty." He replied. Then he started walking over to where the room was. I turned to Donovan and said, "I don't know how you got in, but you are welcome to wait with me while he finds what he's looking for. You're going to come with us back to the castle so you might as well stay and wait. Unless of course, you have other things you'd rather to do." "No Sayaka. "He replied. "Hey!" I interrupted. "It's your majesty to you. Just like everyone else." He took in a big breath and continued, "Of course. Your majesty. I'd be happy to stay here and wait. The coronation can wait. It takes some time and planning. Not many people know about it. So, there isn't really any big rush to do anything. With all that said, it's probably better for us to wait anyway." We started walking to the nearest chair and table to sit down as the monks closed the doors. "I don't think it's going to matter to the people if I have another coronation. I'm not sure if telling them that I'm a vampire is such a good thing right now anyway." I told him. We sat at a small round, wooden table next to twelve feet tall shelves filled with books. "Oh, the people won't know." Donovan replied while getting comfortable in his seat. "What? Why do you say that?" I asked him with distain. "Well this will be a coronation with only vampires. Vampires from across the world. From countries far and wide. You are queen of both mortals and of all vampires." He told me. "No." I said crossing my arms. Donovan had a confused look on his face. "No? I'm not sure that I understand your majesty." He asked. "I'm not going to have this coronation. Not if the people I rule over don't know that I am a vampire. If they are not allowed to know for whatever reason than that then that's going to prevent me from ruling this kingdom. My people will always know the truth about their ruler. If I am going to have a revolt, then I want them to have a revolt against my enemies. Not against me. Granted, I am not going to tell them everything about me, but I am not going to keep everything from them either. I want to make sure they all feel safe. If something happens, I want them to know that I can be trusted. I want both sides to trust me so that if a human or a vampire does something then they know that it wasn't my fault and they won't blame me or my family for it. I'm doing this for the safely of many people. I'm preventing a revolution agent my crown. I'd like to think that I can keep this kingdom running for a very long time." I told him. "But of course, your majesty. I understand what you mean. Maybe waiting a bit longer for this coronation to happen would be for the better. Just like you said." He said. "And this whole your majesty stuff. You're going to keep it up until I say so. It might be forever. I don't want my people knowing about you and then going around asking questions. They might not know what you look like but there are some people that know what you did. I can't have them freak out and do something that could mess things up for anyone. I don't want anyone that can't help being involved in what I'm trying to get done. I am far from making this kingdom as great as it was when my parents were ruling over it all those years ago. You are going to have to make up some sort of story about yourself for the time being. But before you go around telling people this made up story you are going to have to approve it with me, so I know what it is your story is. I want it to run with what's been going on, so nothing gets ruined. I've been working too hard to get to where I am for you to just come up and ruin it. I've been through too much." I said. "Okay. I understand. I'll do that." He replied. "Good. You have until we get to the castle to come up with a story. It takes two weeks to get there. We could leave today, or we could leave a few days from now. Either way, you have until we reach the castle to come up with one. And it better be good." I said. "Yes, your majesty." He replied. Later that day, as the sun was setting, I wake up from a nap I took on one of the red velvet pillows covered wooden couches that was sitting against a wall in the great hall of the library. I was across the room from where I was at earlier when I was sitting at the table with Donovan. I saw that Donovan was asleep at the table we were sitting at earlier with his legs propped up on the table and a hat with a few feathers on the side of it sitting on his face covering it to block any light that might be bothering him. I saw that Peter was nowhere to be found so I assumed that he was down in the main library room getting more research done. "I hope that he's got more research done. We need him to learn everything he can to help us out." I said there laying on the couch still. Donovan woke up removed his hat from his face and said, "Who? What? What was that?" "Nothing Donovan. I was talking to myself. It was nothing important. Go back to sleep. We're probably going to be here for a while longer." I told him. "Oh. Okay." He replied. He looked around and saw one of the couches across from him then got up, laid down on it, put his hat back on his face and started to go back to sleep. I got up and started to walk back to the room where Peter was to check up on him and see how far he's gotten in his research. As I was walking towards the staircase to get into the lower room where Peter was, I told Donovan, "Hey, Stay here. I don't want you in the lower levels of the library. Especially when I'm in there with Peter. Or anyone else for that matter. Do you understand?" "Yes, your majesty." He replied. "Good. Now stay here." I told him. Then I started to walk towards the room then walked down the stairs and into the room. I saw that Peter was still there reading and taking notes. But this time he was farther down the same isle of books he was in the night before. The isles of books were long. I'm not sure how long but it seems like they went down for miles. They probably aren't that long, but they are vast in length.

I walk down to where he is then sitting down next to him. "So how is your research going so far? Have you found anything else interesting?" I asked him. "Well yeah but not as much as I wanted. I 'm still in the same isle so that's a good sign because I was still able to find something. Even though it took me two days to find it." He said with a laugh. I smiled and said, "That's good." How long do you think it's going to take to find anything more?" I asked him. "Well, probably not that long. I went up to the ends of some of these isles and read what category they were, and those categories weren't what I was looking for, but I did find about two more isles I want to look through. We might be here for about another week at this rate." He told me. "Okay. I don't mind. It's not like we're in a big rush now." I said. "What about that coronation thing that you have to go to?" He asked. "I decided to wait and hold that back for a little while before I get that done. The coronation can wait until I say otherwise." I said. "Ah okay. Well it's good to know that there isn't a rush and I don't have to worry about time." He said as he rubbed his face and looked back at the book he was reading. I looked down at his crotch, smiled and said, "Yeah. It's good that we have that extra time." I put my hand on his groin and started to squeeze a little. He looked up at me, smiled and asked, "Is there something you need, your majesty?" "Yes actually, there is Peter. With all this time that we have we might have to spend a little bit of it together. You know? Just to keep ourselves company for a little while. So, we don't go mad and all." I replied. "I see what you mean by that, your majesty." Peter replied. Then I thought for a second. "Are you sure we should do this again? I really want to make sure that James is okay. I still really love him. We still don't know where he is or what the queen is doing to him. After that battle, they didn't try to come after us or do anything to us. At least as far as we know." Peter put his hand on my shoulder and said, "It's okay. We'll find him and we'll find out the answers to all those questions soon. I'm making a breakthrough in my research. Just give me about another two weeks and I'll find out more. I'll find something that will help us out. If I find everything sooner than that then I'll let you know." "Two weeks? That's a bit longer than I thought you would take but I guess I can't rush it. Okay, I'll give you two weeks. At least I have a time frame to work with. Don't tell Donovan. You can tell the monks though. It's okay if they know what you are researching. We can trust the monks." I told him. "Okay. I'll do my best." He replied. I'm going up to the room the monks provided for me." I said. "Okay. I'll probably be here most of the night reading. If not the whole night." He said to me as I was getting up. "And remember, you can't take anything out of the library. No matter how tempting it may seem. If you try to take a book, then something bad will happen to you. Do you understand Peter?" I asked him. "Yes, I do your majesty." He replied. "Good. Okay I'm going to bed. Goodnight Peter." I said as I was starting to walk off. "Goodnight, your majesty." Peter replied. I walked off to my room and went to sleep as soon as I got in. Two weeks had passed by. It was the morning of the last day and I walked down to the lower room. I saw Peter leaning up against one of the book shelves reading one of the spell books he said he needed to read. I walked down to where he was and asked, "I see that you found one of the books you were looking for. Are you almost done?" "Yeah. I just need to read the rest of this book and then write down some notes and I'll be done." He replied. "Okay. How long do you think that will take?" I asked him. "Probably a couple more hours. I want to make sure that I have everything. I don't want to miss anything." He replied. "Sounds good. Were you up all night?" I asked him. "No but I got up really early this morning, like I said, I don't want to miss anything." He replied. "Oh okay. I'll give you a few more hours and then we'll have to leave to go back home to the castle." I told him. "Okay." He said as I was walking back upstairs and towards my room. I got back to my room and took a small nap. I woke up a few hours later. I got up and got dressed. I started to pack my things. With all the packing I saw my mother's locket. I grabbed and opened it. What was inside was the family portrait. My Mother and father were standing in the middle and my older sister, Sakura, my older brother, Matthieu, and I was sitting down in front of them. It was painted when I was young, a few years before that awful night when King James killed my family. "I don't know what that old man Donovan was thinking. I'm not that old. I am a vampire but I'm not as old as he thinks I am. He must have had some sort of mental break down and think I'm my Mother. She was the one that was a few hundred years old, not me." I'm barley in my 20's. Anyway, enough thinking about that. I have things I need to do, and I can't concentrate on this right now. I'll try to figure it out when I have the time for it. I need to get the rest of my things packed." I said to myself. Then I closed it and I hung it on the back of the wooden chair next to my bed and had it hang facing towards me. I grabbed a few more things and put them in my bag. I looked back at my locket. As I was looking at it, I started to cry thinking about that night. I shook my head a little to bring myself back to reality then I wiped off my tears. After about an hour I was done packing everything. I picked up my locket and put it on. I tucked it under my shirt. I grabbed my bags and started heading out of my room. As I was leaving the room, I was thinking about all the things I had gone through and was happy that I had made it this far. I walked back down to the main hall where the main doors are. As I was walking down the stairs a couple of monks came up the stairs to help me carry my bags to the front door for me. I noticed that Peter and Donovan were ready and waiting on me. Both were sitting on different couches in the hall with all their stuff at their feet. When they saw me coming down the stairs they got up and grabbed their stuff and headed to the door. Uther opened the door. He then walked to the front gate and opened it while we were getting our horses settled and ready to leave. Once they were ready, we got on our horses and started to slowly ride past the opening of the gate. I stopped at the gate opening where Uther was holding it open. I looked down at him and said, "Thank you for letting us use your library and for your hospitality. It is much appreciated. Be sure to thank the rest of the monks as well." "You are very welcome your majesty and I will make sure the other monks know of your gratitude. And I am sure that they are just as happy as I am for your much-awaited visit. We look forward to seeing you each time you come and hope to see you again soon. Remember that you are always welcome here whenever you need your highness." Uther replied. I smiled and nodded then started to ride off. Peter and Donovan were a few yards ahead of me. I caught up to Peter. Donovan was a bit farther ahead of us. "Did you get all the information and notes you needed?" I asked him. "Yes, I was. Thank you for giving me the two weeks of time to get what I needed. It really helped. It will definitely help our cause" He replied. "Good. Oh, and you don't have to keep saying your majesty to me all the time. You can just say Saya or Sayaka. I don't mind that. I get a lot of people saying 'your majesty' to me a lot so it starts to get old fast. You're a close friend. You are an exception in having to say that." I told him. "What about your highness?" He asked with a smile. I smiled back and we both laughed. "Well I guess I can allow that every so often. But don't make a habit of it." I said sarcastically. "But of course, your highness. Oh! I mean Saya." He said sarcastically. We both smiled and laughed again. I can say that it felt good to start on our way back home to Verelandra. We were gone for so long. It was going to be a long way back. I just wanted to be back in my castle already. I knew that there were going to be many times where we had to go to places and do many things get things done but whenever I came back to the castle it always felt good. Especially knowing that it was a much safer place after we had finished what we had to do and that it would be a much better place once we had finished everything else. Luckily, we were able to make it back home to Verelandra without any problems or anyone or anything attacking us. When we had gotten back to the castle everyone was happy to see us.
