There's Always A Way

"Son, I think you and Yera need at least one week off. Your marriage was already done in a rush, so your honeymoon should at least be done properly," suggested Senior Yang as they were having dinner.

Yera coughed, and her face nearly turned as red as a cherry. She had forgotten that Senior Yang did not know anything about the marriage contract she signed with Xander. She took a sip of water and was about to make an excuse to turn down the suggestion when Xander opened his mouth to speak.

"That's a good idea, Dad. We should do that, indeed. I'll have Ron arrange it immediately. Spending a week solely with my wife is what I would want to do," Xander seconded his father's suggestion with a wide grin on his face. He totally ignored the sharp look that Yera threw at him, as though she was throwing daggers at him.

"But, Father, my schedule at the hospital is a bit hectic now," murmured Yera. That was simply the truth. She had so many things to do and could not afford to be on vacation for a week.

"Nah… That's exactly why you need to relax more and enjoy your married life. Don't let work become a hindrance. Don't worry dear, I'll make sure the hospital would run well in your absence. Just work hard on my future grandchild instead of hospital work… I'm old already, and that's the one wish that I would love to have fulfilled before I go to meet my maker..." Sermoned Senior Yang.

Xander could definitely hug his dad that very moment for the brilliant idea he just dropped. Of course, he wanted to go on a honeymoon with his wife. But he also knew Yera would reject it if he were the one to propose it. His dad had surely never let him down when it came to things like this.

Senior Yang looked at Yera and added, "Don't say no to this old man because I have already prepared everything and made all the reservations for the two of you. Consider it as a gift from your father-in-law…"

Senior Yang gave Yera a pensive look as he said, "Hmm, to be honest, I was actually disappointed with my son for getting married in secret. But I know that it had to be done that way because he was just taking your situation into consideration. So, I will be pleased if you would take the time to relax and enjoy each other's company for at least one week. And I hope the two of you would do everything in your power to help me fulfill my greatest wish. I want to be called Grandpa soon."

Yera's cheeks and ears turned crimson red at Senior Yang's words, while Xander was just smiling from ear to ear.

As soon as they were inside their room, Yera confronted Xander and said, "I can't go on a vacation. I just started working at your hospital. It would not look good if I take a leave that long…"

"Hmm, don't worry… I'll take care of it. It's so easy. I'll just tell them you are going to attend a conference abroad with me, on Dr. Gong's recommendation. You see, where there's a will, there's always a way, Darling…" Xander said as he chuckled excitedly.

Then he puckered his lips and pled, "Just this once, please? My dad would be disappointed if we turned down his efforts. Really... He may seem like a jolly person like me, but he's actually a sensitive person when it comes to things like this."

Yera's expressionless face was so unreadable that Xander was chanting inwardly, "Please let her agree… Please let her agree… Or make her nod…"

Yera sighed as she stared at Xander's imploring eyes. If what Xander said was true, then she would not want to let Senior Yang down. He had been a very kind and doting father-in-law to her.

Another sigh escaped her mouth as she said, "Alright, then take care of everything. I don't want an image of a truant doctor sticking to my name. So make sure to convince them that my leave is for work and not for a vacation."

Yera was startled when Xander pulled her in for a hug, as he happily cheered, "Thank you, Darling! Yes, I will take care of everything. Dad will surely be happy…"

"Let go of me, or I will change my mind," Yera murmured as she got a bit panicky. She was feeling tensed from Xander's tight hug. She was afraid it might lead to something more. Because Xander was a very dangerous person to her. He would just do whatever he would like to do. It did not matter what it was as long as it was according to his liking. That was what she observed...

Xander immediately released her and held her shoulders before he said, "Hmm… You go rest first. I'll check what he prepared for our vacation."

"You look too excited," Yera could not help but comment.

"Of course, I am… "said Xander grinning, as he kissed Yera's nose and dashed toward the door before Yera could throw him her signature icy blast stare. He went to his dad's room, whistling. He should reward his dad generously for this. A week of vacation with Yera was an opportunity for him to get closer to her… to capture her heart...

Meanwhile, Yera stood still in the spot where Xander left her, while she stared at the door through which Xander had just exited. Then she bit her lower lip. For some reason, Yera had no energy to get irritated whenever Xander would do things like this. Perhaps, she had already gotten used to it. Xander had always been acting sweet to her and would often steal small kisses whenever he could.

Yera heaved a long sigh of confusion… She had mixed emotions... Feelings that she would not bother to name… Or rather, emotions that she was too afraid to identify...
