Chapter 6 - Underground City

Following the stone path, along with other people, Reid came to the Underground City. As soon as he entered the sculptured stone archway, he was greeted by a bustling street. Before he could choose a direction to go, something happened.

He looked up and saw a hill-sized stalactite detaching from above and falling onto the city. Then, he looked around saw people doing their things as usual, while some came out from their houses and watched the stalactite fall as though it was a good TV commercial.

And since these people were indifferent to this disaster, Reid ignored it as well and calmly watched the spectacle. But most new people were not like him.

"O-Oh my god! It's falling! A stone is falling!" A man shouted in frantically.

"Fuck! I don`t want to die!" Another man said as he ran out of the city.

Two brothers hugged each other and confessed their sins to each other. The black man asked bitterly. "Brother, are we going to die?"

The brown man`s eyes have a hint of conspiracy and nodded in despair. "I think this is the end. It is nice to be with you at this time brother."

"Me too!" The black man sniffed and said. "You know what brother? I always love your wife and in fact, your son is my son."

The brown man`s expression darkened and coldly asked. "Is that true?"

"Yes, it is true. We made him when you are out for a special mission. I`m sorry, brother. Forgive me!" The black man said as he felt a hand clutching his neck and slowly it. "Brother, if killing me at this moment of death can satisfy you. Then, please do it."

"I will kill you even if that rock can`t kill you! You F!@#$%^!" The brown man roared and beat the shit out of his brother until his great-great-great-grandmother could not recognize him anymore.

As the stalactite enlarged in their vision, it bumped onto a bluish force field and was pulverized into tiny pieces and fell onto the mountain that looked like stacks of debris. Looking at the stacks of debris that accumulated into hills, the detachment of stalactite was not a rare occurrence and happened every so often. But due to the existence of the force field, the residents of the Underground City were not worried.

After the spectacle, the streets became more bustling as the newcomers were embarrassed by their companions, while some people watch other people`s jokes.

The Underground City was the only place where hunters could rest in peace within the danger-filled underground world. Therefore, the Underground City was heavily guarded. Not only does it have an army stationed around it, but the Hunter Association also placed a powerful supervisor within to look out for mentally ill outlaws such as terrorists, cults, and anti-humans. Due to their rampant behavior, they were the enemies of all forces.

A man in a black-crimson armor suit outlined the beauty of the human physique, giving him a domineering atmosphere. And he was being accompanied by a winged green snake. The combination greatly attracted many discerning eyes. But no one made a move, as the Underground City was not a place where people could cause trouble.

Reid could sense greedy eyes staring at him, but he ignored them and head to the Hunter Association Building to turn over the item needed to complete his commissions.

At the counter, he was greeted by staff as soon as he came forward. The female staff asked politely, with shining eyes as she looked at his handsome protective suit. "Hello, Sir. Are you here to complete your commission?"

Reid nodded. "I took three commissions in total. Where can I hand over the items I collected to complete the commissions?"

"Just here, sir." The female staff answered.

After hearing the female staff, Reid took out the things he collected and hand them over to her. "10 liters of Venomous Gray Porcupine Bone Marrow, Nerve Paralyzing Roselle and Bark of Black Ent. That`s all."

"Oh? So sir has taken a Rank Assessment. Wait... Hmm..." After a call, the female staff spoke. "Your rank has been updated, Sir Reid Aurus. And with these three missions, you have earned 300 Credits. You can browse through the Item Mall to exchange something you needed. Do you need anything else, Sir?"

"No. That is all. Thank you." Reid said and left after taking his Hunter Card.

He heard the female staff muttered. "What a shame. I still want to talk to him."

Leaving the Hunter Association Building, Reid went to a hotel and rented a room for himself. He took a shower, changed his clothes, and headed to the north entrance. He decided to do what he wanted to do. The purpose of this journey was to hunt beasts and strengthened his stats using the Soul Eater Sword as it was much faster than training himself. All he has to do was kill using the Soul Eater Sword. How difficult it was to step on ants? No sweat at all.

For this purpose, Reid research and bought information about the places where strong beasts could be said inexhaustible or countless, that even if he killed millions of them, no trouble would appear and haunt his conscience. He did not want to cause any ecological imbalance that would definitely create a beast tide.

Walking for several kilometers away from Underground City, heading deep into the Luminous Forest. As soon as he entered the forest, he covered himself with Isolation Field and disappeared. After he disappeared, several people jumped out of the bushes and rocks and looked around.

"Where is he!? Did he found out that we are following him and run away?" A man in a furry coat said angrily. He ordered. "He should not get far away. Find him! Spread out. Whoever found him will get a piece of his suit!"

But before they could leave, they saw their leader being stabbed by a sword from behind.

"Captain! I`ll fight without you!"

"Boss! How dare you stab our boss!"

"He attacked the boss! Kill him!"

Idiot! Stupid! I`m still at his hand and you dared to attack without any regard to my safety! I`m still alive! Bastards!!! The leader grimaced as he cursed inwardly. He coughed up blood and spoke. "Bastard! Stop to me! Don`t you see that he still has me in his hand?! Are you going to kill me?"

The seven men stopped and pointed their weapons at Reid after hearing their boss` word.

"Release out boss! We can take this as if this never happened, otherwise..." A man with a spear said.

"I hate being threatened." Reid chuckled and slightly move the sword stabbed onto the body of their leader.

"F!@# Shut up!" The leader roared in anger and pain as he glared at the spearman. "All of you shut up and let me talk to him." He spoke to Reid. "Little brother, I think there is a misunderstanding between us."

"Really? But I heard that you fancied my Black Crimson Suit." Reid gave a perfunctory reply. "So I stab you first before speaking."

Stab first before speaking. What kind of bastard did I provoke? The leader regretted his decision of robbing Reid as he had the urge to cry.

"Moreover, I`m not a merciful guy. Since you thought about moving me, be prepared to lose your lives." Reid smile faintly and said after twisting the sword stabbing on the man`s back. "Thank you for welcoming me to the Underground City."

Only 1%? So few! And this guy is stronger than I thought. It seems getting stronger just by killing is not enough. I still need to train. Reid thought as he pulled out his sword.

The leader coughed up blood and slumped down without any breath.

"Boss!"

"F!@# Kill him!!"

The seven men roared in anger and anguish and rushed at Reid. They indiscriminately attacked Reid using their abilities but were cut down by him in seconds. Not enough for Reid to break a sweat. After all, they were several hundred times weaker than him.

After killing them, Reid gained +4.3 Physique, +3.2 Spirit. Rummaging through their blood-soaked clothes, Reid found a bag of Life Crystals worth 11,000 DP, some medicine worth selling, and some relics of the past. What caught his attention was a cloth made entirely of gold with some kind of weird words written on it.

Thus, Reid asked the system to identify it.

After being identified by the system, Reid became interested and decided to search for the other parts of the map for an interesting adventure.
