Endless Combinations

Harkal's mouth was moving, yet Uteu could not hear a single word he was saying.

His mind was buzzing, he could hardly think properly with all of the different chains now connected to him. There were far too many skills to shuffle through and any small mistake could become hazardous to Uteu and to all of the people he was borrowing abilities from.

Compatibility. This seemed to be the most important factor. Even between all of his Links if they or their skills were incompatible to each other, then he would be unable to use their skills together.

Harkal's face grew red as his fury grew. He seemed to have lost any patience he had when Uteu didn't respond to a single thing he said.

Uteu remained calm even as Harkal extended his hands to send three large gales of wind in his direction. His stance was firm as he pulled Uti behind him and sent out a barrier made of earth to nullify the attack.

Uteu was pleasantly surprised that the combination of skills worked out the way he wanted it to.

He had combined together three skills, barrier with magic manipulation and earth armor. With these skills, he created a very sturdy barrier, perfect for deflecting Harkal's wind attacks.

Magic manipulation was one of the key components for his skill combining. At least, when it came to magic skills. Trying to combine magic skills without it was more difficult and less flexible.

Harkal sent attack after attack yet none of them could tear down the barrier around him and Uti.

Uteu sent a wave of water towards Harkal's head and quickly froze it. He got to watch in glee as Harkal sputtered from the water and desperately tried to remove the ice from his face.

Another gale hit the earth barrier and Uteu, not letting Harkal remove the last bits of ice from his hair, Uteu sent ice needles laced with lightning bolts at the other man's feet.

Harkal dodged while growling in irritation. He flashed several yards away and unleashed several whirlwinds into Uteu's direction.

They twirled around with rapid, jerky movements. Uteu could not predict exactly when or how they'd reach him.

He sucked in a bit of air before he swirled together both fire and water skills, the air rapidly became moist and damp. Above him, dark clouds began to form, not wasting a moment, he let the lightning streak down from it.

Taking advantage of the moisture and instability in the conflicting temperatures, he created a wind funnel. As it expanded and hit the ground, a tornado was formed, which rapidly sucked in the already existing smaller whirlwinds as soon as it hit them.

Harkal was openly gaping at the massive storm being sent his way. He held out both arms, massive amounts of sweat poured from him as he used everything he had just to stop the tornado from tearing him apart.

By the time he dispelled the tornado, Harkal was on his hands and knees, desperately gasping in air. His sweat soaked clothes were torn and his hair was in disarray. He weakly glared at Uteu from where he was.

Lightning streaked down from behind him startling him. Small chunks of hail pelted him, leaving red marks on his skin. Over all, Harkal's glare only made him look even more pitiful.

There were near endless combinations of skills that Uteu could try out. He had used a few of the Psyche abilities yet he barely even tapped into the Thew abilities yet.

Uteu could barely contain the excitement. So what if Harkal could use endless magic in this space? They were all weak spells, limited to what Harkal could actually do. Uteu on the other hand, could combine and chain skills together to create something much stronger. The skills were even pulled off of his Links, not draining him in the least.

As much as Uteu wished that he could continue to toy with Harkal, he was starting to feel light headed and black spots slowly filled his vision. Creating so many chains at once had drawbacks and it was quickly catching up to him.

Uteu felt that it was quite a shame, there was just so much that he wanted to try out, but he needed to insure a way out for both himself and Uti.

Not wanting to let Harkal leave with them, Uteu quickly sent down a bolt of lightning from the clouds to Harkal. The sheer amount of voltage would kill a normal man, just for good measure though, Uteu also froze him in a massive ice boulder.

Satisfied that Harkal wasn't moving any longer, Uteu turned around to pick up Uti. He wrapped buffs around the two of them and darted off to where he could feel the space was at it's weakest.

All of the magic that Harkal had used unveiled this small spot and Uteu was quick to notice it with all of his senses so enhanced.

Uteu shifted Uti to his back, she clung onto his shoulders with her hands and wrapped her legs around him to stay securely attached to him. He observed around, it didn't look any different from the rest of the entire space. Just red everywhere he looked and yet he could feel that this one spot was weaker than the rest of the space.

Putting his hand on the ground, Uteu breathed in and pulled on the one skill he had access to that would hopefully get the two of them out of here.

Barrier break.

The image of the platinum haired man from the association floated into his mind for a split second.

Uteu grimaced. He had a bad feeling about getting mixed up with the Kendive family but right now, he didn't have much of a choice.

The ground splintered and cracked as he applied more pressure to it.

He added on amplification and magic manipulation and concentrated all of the barrier break ability to the largest part of the crack in the ground. The ground disintegrated into small glittering red dust particles and the entire space began to crack and collapse.

Uteu shared a happy smile with his sister when they saw a sunset from beyond the broken red crystal. The refreshing breeze blew their hair dark red hair gently and the fresh air was a blessing to their heavy lungs.

Uteu could feel himself relaxing. The relief at finally getting out of the Zero Blood Space felt amazing.

Uteu's vision grew darker and he could no longer fight off his exhaustion now that the adrenaline was gone.

He felt himself fall and could do nothing to stop it.
