Departure, The Moonlight Forest

Moonlight Forest

Deep in the Moonlight forest, a shadowy figure could be seen, as the moon slowly replaced the sun, the figure suddenly halted. Naturally, this figure was will. But how could will ran so fast, he was after all only a twelve year old boy.

Although this may be true, Will was also a magician. In the world of magic, Will was naturally insignificant. As a level 0 Novice, Will held no attack power with magic. This was done for multiple reasons. The first being that it was dangerous for a novice such as himself to attempt such a spell, with his mana capacity, failure could mean death. The second reason was made long ago by the Magic Council of Arrati, on the day of the Founding . The most important day of the magic calendar.

Will did not have the experience and knowledge to weild such power, he would be too unpredictable.

However, he still knew some spells. The spell Will had used just then was known as simply, "boost". This spell increased all physical attributes by a x the users mana. For Will, this was about 1 through 5%. With this spell, Will was able to ran through the jungle with the speed of a wildcat. As Will stopped, he considered his options, he could either light his way with the level 0 spell, "lumen". Which brings out the users mana in the purest possible form, light. However, this would alert the beasts to his location. So, Will choose the second option, to use his mana sense, although it wasn't an accurate way of tracking, it would help him avoid some magical beast. Slowly, Will held out his right hand, and pictured the spell structure in his mind, then utilizing his mana, he activated the structure. It was as if a gentle wind had been released from his body. This was not far from the truth though. As if struck by lightning, the boy dashed towards the northwest of the forest, and pulled out his crossbow. Following the boy closely, was an hawk. As if shot from bow, the jet-black hawk charged after the boy. Contrary to it's appearance, this was a normal hawk, not a magical beast. It had simply been affected by the forest.

Will had instinctively sensed the wild aura around the owl, and ran. Although Will was a commoner, his father was a battle mage. He was not afraid of ordinary animals. Will's instincts had turned into that of a hunter. He knew that he would not be able to outran the beast with it's increased power. So, he spun around and faced it head on. A faint glow glow be seen in the center of Will's palm. Just as the hawk was about to dig it's claws in Will's shoulders, the glow intensified, turning into the size of an apple.

This was lumen, the most basic magic a magician learnt. Faced with the might of the searing light, the hawk lost its balance and crashed into a nearby tree. In the Moonlight Forest, all animals lose control of themselves, and turn wild, this was the reason that even grown men feared this forest.Having lost control of it's aura, the Hawks only instincts were to kill, even at the cost of it's life. It thrashed wildly and Dover at will once more. But this time, Will was ready, in one fluid motion, he aimed his crossbow and fired at the head. Will understood that even though the bird was out of control, it was still an animal, and thus, it's weak point was the head. The hawk was dead, but Will's victory was short-lived.

As if coming to avenge it's child, a wolf's howl pierced through the night. Following the roar, numerous sounds rang out.

From snakes to birds and dogs, even the wind seemed to make way for these noises.

Fear started to build up in Will's heart, and slowly, the light from his palm faded. Faced with the sudden assault of the forest, he could not even cast lumen, the most basic spell there was. However, he still had his natural instinct, and ran. Just on his tail, was a pack of wolves. At this moment, Will's only though was,"I have to ran". This was what prevented him from acting calmly and rationally. The wolves snarled and barked while giving chase to will. Right now, Will himself had forgotten that he could easily get rid of these wolves, what stopped him was the intense pressure they gave off on his aura.

This left him unable to think clearly. In a few seconds, the wolves caught up to Will and pounced on him. With Will's frail body, this was easy for the wolves. In Will's mind, he thought that he couldn't allow himself to get killed when he had not even arrived at his destination. If he died here, no one would no, and he simply would not be able to face his family and ancestors, in that moment, something in him snapped. Holding out the hand with the bracelet, Will spread out his mana and concentration to a single bead. In a split second, the bead started glowing a bluish glow. Just a second later, Will's entire body was shrouded in flames, almost as if he was wearing the fire. Instantly, the dark forest was filled with light. Almost instantly, the wolves were caught on fire, and in a matter of seconds, they were dead. The only evidence of their existence, their bloody corpses. The spell that had just saved Will's life was the level 3 spell, elemental armor.

Naturally, a novice such as Will could not cast this spell. Instead, he had used a magic tool. Since the spell structure had already been inscribed, all Will had to do was pour in his mana. As long as he kept control of his mana, the spells would be active. This was exactly what Will was doing then. Not letting this chance go by, Will shot out of like an arrow shot by a bow, he ran for an unknown amount of time. Nothing dared to interrupt his path, except for one, a magical beast. Anacondria Snake. In front of Will, was a massive snake, almost 40 feet tall. With glowing yellow eyes, and scales as thick as iron. But Will refused to allow it to get in his way. Right now, his determination was set in stone. Will's bracelet glowed once more, and suddenly, a 5 foot humanoid made out of pure blue lightning jumped towards the snake. Pointing fiercely at the creature, Will roared," Elementus attack". Charging against the snake like a bolt of lightning, the Elementus struck, each blow resounding against the snake like thunder. Lightning flash across the night as they fought. The snake was fast, but the Elementus was even faster, evading the snakes charges, then striking back. It seemed like the lightning creature was controlling the fight. Will, who had been directing the Elementus throughout the fight knew that this was not the case. The snake plan to encircle it's body around it's opponent, and tighten it's body. But Will would not let that happen. Will pointed his arm towards the snakes tail, and suddenly, a 9ft arrow made entirely of ice through the air, piercing it's skin. This created just the opening Will needed. Although Will had never encountered a magical beast before this event, he knew that they count only be killed by strong magic, or by removing their core . Since Will did not have enough strength to penetrate it's defense, his only chance was by was to trap it then sever the head, allowing him room for retreat. But Will only had 4 remaining spells, plus the armor he wore. And he intended to make them count. Finally, the snake managed to land a strike on the lightning creature, destroying it. But Will was ready, and he charged right towards the snake. In one fluid motion, the snake swallowed Will.

This happened at about the same time Will activated another spell. Right now, it would be difficult for the snake to swallow him, thanks to his armor. A shortsword made from pure flames appeared in Will's hand, which he used to slash the creature's mouth. With each slash, the snake felt the sensation of death.Although it was still alive. It was a fusion Mentalism and Elementalism. On any other day, Will would have marveled at such a spell, but he was currently fighting for his life. After 7 slashes, the creature finally died with Will in it's mouth. Although he had won, Will was not happy. Or rather, he could not be happy. In his mouth, Will could taste the iron in his own blood. Will was bleeding from his mouth and nose. This horrendous taste,as well as the bloody surroundings caused Will to vomit. His vision turned hazy and he could not think properly.

Gradually, the world started to fade away from him. And he fainted. These were the effects of overdrawing ones mana. As a novice, Will did not have much mana, and the duration of his spells were extremely limited. Unconsciously, Will had overdrawn his mana to supply for the Elementus and his armor. Thus it had left him in a near death state.
