Earth?

For servants in the houses of nobles, eavesdropping was a big taboo. However it was impossible to not listen to what is going on in a room that you have to wait on and yet still attentively respond when called and so this rule was limited to not speaking about what you hear.

At this moment, the maids waiting on Emilia were quite dumbfounded. They knew the young lady was smart but she can even keep up with one of the geniuses of this generation?! She's only 5! And what is this? Even they couldn't understand what the two were speaking of!

Meanwhile in the centre of the room, at the lounge set. Two young children sat facing each other, seemingly frozen in surprise.

'What? How does he know Einstein? Was there an Einstein in this world?' Emilia thought, trying to figure out what just happened.

On the other hand Niklaus was regretting having said that. Maybe she just made it up. Just because it was said before doesn't mean it will never be said again. How could she be from Earth? Of course not. She'll probably not realise what he said.

"Do you, perhaps, know Earth?" Emilia spoke up, leaving Niklaus even more dumbfounded.

He slowly nodded his head and saw the look on Emilia's face morph from shock to deep thought. Suddenly she stood up and instructed the maids to help them move the lesson to the back garden. He followed along and they settled down opposite each other at a beautiful metalwork table on a raised platform. The maids were standing further away than in the room, out of earshot.

Emilia was thinking of a way to talk to him where no one would hear, but being alone in a room with him would not be appropriate so she decided to go for the next best thing, being outside.

"How do you know Earth?" he questioned, breaking the stretching silence.

For a while Emilia debated telling him the truth or telling him a believable lie. Eventually she settled on truth because it seems he was hiding something as well and she would like to know what.

"I have memories of it." She said.

"Memories?"

"Yes, I could remember them from the moment I was born. In my previous life I was a person from Earth." She observed him as she spoke. "How do you know of it?"

"I... I was also from Earth in my previous life..." He said, noticing her eyebrows furrow. Emilia was astounded, though she guessed it by now and it shouldn't be much of a surprise. It was very unlikely that she was the only one who remembers right?

"Where in Earth? Do you know anyone else from Earth? What was your name? Do you know about the game?" She started bombarding him with questions.

"I was from country X, my name was Cole Hank. No I don't know anyone else like me and what game? No wait forget about games who were you? Where were you from?" He leaned a bit forward.

"You were Cole Hank? No way." Emilia was stunned to learn of his previous identity. Cole Hank was someone she knew personally, though not for long. "I was Leah Preston, we met at-"

"-At the conference! How could I forget?" He cut her off. When he met her he was very impressed with the way she carried herself, and more importantly, how she handled a gun.

Leah Preston was the heiress of Preston Corp which had a wide range of influence on many different industries including technology, entertainment and medicine. It was one of the top 10 corporations in the world, big enough for meeting royalty and business tycoons to become a norm. An example of this was her debutante in society, she debuted in an international and extremely exclusive debutante along with princess and other notable young heiresses or daughters of tycoons. She was considered a prodigy in the field of technology and so was working as the head of the technology division up till the day she died.

Cole Hank, on the other hand, was someone that wasn't really known to most of the world. He was a famous scientist, focusing on the fields of chemistry and dabbling in physics, who was behind many new inventions. Some of his works include the most efficient rocket fuel the world had seen, preservatives that could preserve a human body in perfect condition and the antidote to one of the worlds deadliest poisons at the time. His parents owned a general goods chain store that stretched across the country, and even internationally. He was pretty sought-after for his talents but since he came from a relatively humble background he didn't have much protection from the big names that wanted him.

They hadn't really known each other well personally but they had known a lot about each other professionally since they often worked together in the technical innovation industry. Emilia had personally worked with him on the development of efficient quantum computing.

"This is quite a big coincidence." Emilia spoke.

"Indeed." Niklaus said as he leaned back, crossing his legs and arms, subconsciously reverting back to the posture he was most used to from his previous life.

They both were thinking the same thing: Is it really a coincidence? To answer that they'll have to look into it.

"But you only died a month and a half before me, how are you 6 years older than me?" Emilia asked.

"I don't know. But the main question is: Is this normal? Life after death? Or is there something else going on here?" He replied.

The two conversed some more about their time on Vaile and before they knew it they were approaching the time to end the lesson. Since this was Emilia's first lesson it was shorter and so they didn't have enough time to discuss everything they wanted to.

"Since we don't have much time, and I suspect future lessons will be like this as well, we should practice enough magic to be able to communicate." Niklaus said and so they spent the last 10 minutes practicing magic.

"Now, since I know who you actually are this will be much easier. Magic in this world is nothing like what we used to think it would be on Earth but you probably already know that by now so we're going to practice your knowledge. I want you to visualise the word 'Vaile' in air, you may use whatever material you like to materialise it." He instructed.

Emilia imagined the water in there air being extracted and then solidifying to form ice which shaped the word "Vaile" and then looked at Niklaus for further instructions.

"Alright now turn the ice into fire." Emilia did. Like that they practiced some basic elemental magic.

"Now we have to find a way to communicate easily, we could try carrier pigeons, or teleported messages hmm... which would be easiest magically?" Niklaus muttered the last part.

As he was muttering ideas to himself, Emilia was busy focusing on a rock that she had picked up from the ground nearby. After she was done doing what she required, she picked up another rock and did the same thing. Then she presented the finished products to Niklaus.

"I think a mobile phone would be best." Emilia stated as she handed him a basic walkie-talkie like mobile phone. Being a tech genius had it's perks, that included formless coding and easy build-a-phones. Niklaus just looked at her, seemingly having forgotten that phones were an option.

"Oh, right this makes sense." He muttered. "But what about the cell towers?"

"Since these are probably the only two phones that exist in this world they can communicate with each other on any channel so a control tower isn't required, a network will do. They also have built in receivers and emitters. Don't modify it much, you may hit something critical since the whole device is very compact. Oh and I added a camera and an SD card, let me know if you're out of space, I'll make another one." Since the internet didn't exist in this world, they had to create their own network technology.

At this, one of the maid's stepped forward to inform them about the end of the session. Niklaus discreetly tucked the phone into his pocket and stood up to leave and Emilia stood up to see him off.

"Well Ms. Preston *cough* Lady Emilia, it was a pleasure. I look forward to our next lesson." Niklaus said.

"As do I, thank you for taking the time, Lord Niklaus." Emilia responded. The maids had a strange sense of inconsistency seeing a 5 year old speaking in such a formal manner.

Even though they had agreed to dispense with the formalities, it wasn't proper to do so around other people, even just servants.

She saw him out the front entrance and went straight up to her mother's room since she had been asked to come over after the lesson.

After tea with her mother, evening was approaching and so was her last lesson of the day, economics. She would be attending this lesson with both of her brothers and was pretty excited to get started.

To most economics doesn't seem like much fun, but to Emilia it was one of her favourite things. She loved working with numbers and the meanings behind where the outcome of an action, as any number cruncher will know, are usually very well predicted by numbers. Science, stocks, business, history, all of them work with numbers. Many a men have said that numbers are the language of the universe.

In this state of excitement, Emilia made her way to one of the rooms on the upper floor of the mansion that was designated the study room, previously only for her brothers.

Economics, in this world, wasn't separate from mathematics. Basically mathematics as it's own field wasn't a thing, it was only taught in context with other things such as business or physics or agriculture. Therefore young children would be introduced to these subjects as early as 6 or 7 years old but would only be taught the basic mathematics, the theoretical and behavioural aspects came much afterwards. This is why Nicholas was also in the class, along with the fact that he was mistaken for a genius.

As she reached the door a servant opened it for her and she walked inside to find four tables. Three on one side and one larger one facing the other three, a typical classroom setting but with only three students seats. Her brother, Raymond, sat on the left-most seat, furthest from the door and her twin, Nicholas, sat in the middle seat.

As soon as she entered the room, Nicholas jumped off his chair and hurled himself at her.

"Mia! I missed you so much!" He said, childishly clinging to her with his left cheek against her shoulder. Surprised, Emilia took a few steps back, despite her mature behaviour, her body was that of a 5 year old so the force her twin used had pushed her off balance.

To calm him down she ruffled his fluffy white hair and spoke "I missed you too, Nick." as she put some space between them. In this world, it wasn't proper for a man and woman to be so intimate but seeing as both of them were children it was considered alright so Emilia didn't correct him or scold him, opting for a softer approach.

On the other side of the room, Raymond watched his siblings and their obnoxious behaviour. He had never like his younger siblings since they had stolen his mother's attention from him, and his father's kindness as well. Since they were born, he had to work twice as hard as before. More lessons, more practice, more work. He hated it. He was already excellent at his studies, incomparable amongst his peers.

But since his brother had proved himself to be useless at management or studies in general, he had more and more pressure stacked on his shoulders. Now that his sister was going to be tutored along side him, the pace of the lessons would drop for sure meaning he would have to take extra time outside of lessons to keep up with his father's expectations. Little did he know how wrong he was.

After detaching Nicholas from herself, Emilia made him go back to his seat and walked over to Raymond.

"Hello brother." She greeted, receiving a low grunt of acknowledgement from him and then went to take her own seat. On her table was a book, a fountain pen and an inkwell for the lesson. As she was arranging her things neatly and to her liking, her new tutor entered the room.

A young man, seemingly in his early 20's, with long blonde hair walked in. He was very handsome with a sharp jaw, a straight nose on which his glasses were perched, and deep blue eyes, as expected of a video game character. Emilia recognised him as the eldest son of the minister of finance who was an ally to the player in the game. He looked over his students and then landed his piercing gaze on her.

"You must be Lady Emilia." He stated, scrutinising her tiny figure.
