An Alternate Reality (1)

-The Beginning-

Leah's eyes fluttered open and a bright light made her close them again immediately. Ugh what was happening to her?

She moved to lift her hand to her aching head when she noticed that something was attached to it. She slowly opened her eyes again, adjusting to the light, and looked down at her hand. There was a tube pumping clear liquid into her hand. An IV she remembered, she was in the hospital.

IV? How did she know what this contraption was? And how did she know where she was just from that?

Her head started to ache again and she lifted her free hand up to her forehead as memories started to pour into her mind, both from her past and current life. An overload of memories caused an intense pain to shoot through her skull and she let out a low whimper.

Remembering how one died was always a terrible experience and her end was quite tragic as well. She was the daughter of Duke Von Jaeger, a noble only second to the ruler of the country Alfenheim, above millions and under only a handful and yet her end was so miserable.

She had lived quite a lovely life, very distanced from most of her family. Only when she was framed and charged treason for a crime she didn't commit did she regret not having made the effort to close the distance between them.

Her fiancé was the crown prince who, despite suspecting her innocence, could not prevent what awaited her. She was sentenced to execution but her family pleaded on her behalf, promising many things to lessen her punishment and so she was shown some mercy and was instead banished from the country. However that had possibly been worse than a quick execution. Sparing the tragic details of her travels, she had found herself in a country that was at war with Alfenheim and met her end at the hands of an innocent looking little boy, not even knowing why.

And now she was Leah Preston, heiress of Preston Corp a multinational conglomerate that spanned various industries but specialised in technology.

'Technology? How strange.' Leah thought while sitting up. She leaned against the headboard while she processed everything that was stumbling around in her brain. Yes she was Emilia Von Jaeger... but she was also Leah Preston. She had all the memories, experiences and even skills of the body she was inhabiting. She wasn't replacing the soul or anything... in fact she may have been reborn as Leah and her accident might have triggered the memories of her past life. It was honestly too much to make sense of right now.

The sound of a door opening brought Leah out of her thoughts. She looked up to see a man in a black suit walk into the room.

"Oh! Ms. Preston, you're awake! I will go inform Mr. Preston right away." The black-haired man said as he left.

Mr. Preston huh? That was her grandfather. Figures he was the only one to care about her, after all her sister and fiancé had betrayed her and her parents were never much concerned with her.
