Chapter 5:

Long-life siblings

.

"it was dark..."

.

It was dark.

Enra slowly opened her eyes, regained her consciousness. She stared the white wall above her. the light from the lamp was enough to lighten the room. she found her peace for quite sometimes.

Enra rose from her bed, she put aside a white sheet that covered her lower body. She started checking her mobility, raise both arms, poking her body. There is nothing wrong. Then, she sat at the edge of her bed and started recalling what happened before she awoke at hospital. She glanced at the infusion pole beside her bed.

Yep, this is hospital.

And yet, she must find him, check his condition. After the chaos… was it yesterday? Or a couple of hours ago?

Enra checked a clock that hanging at the wall. 21.06 pm. That's meant, around three hours after the incident at the terminal. She held her head before decided to go outside. She brought along the pole which the infusion attached at her left hand, afraid to pull them off.

She opened the door, which unlocked to begin with. It's hospital, why would she was being jailed unless she has infectious disease or crazy. The corridor was not that quiet, there is some health worker and janitor here. One of them walk passing her room and Enra managed to talk with the nurse.

"Excuse me, do you happen to know where is Chief Evans?"

"Oh, yes, miss. The Head Chief was here not a long ago, but I don't know where he is right now."

This is the hospital, build under the Bureau of Security, they still accept public or common people though. Mostly the patients were come from officers, polices, armies that work for the Bureau. Maybe it's late to tell you (the readers) but it's nice-to-know information. There are total of five divisions here; Patrol and Traffic Security, Police Agency, Criminal Research and Investigation, Army Enforcement, and Espionage Agent. Each of divisions have their branches with different task and authority. From the structure, we divided them into International Forces, National Forces and Rural Forces. Enra is Deputy Chief of Diplomatic Security Bureau, which her position is crucial for both International and National Forces. Meant, she was positioned above the five divisions here.

Enra let the nurse go again. she walked along the corridor and found the nurses desk. She was about to ask one of the nurses but someone patted her shoulder.

"What are you doing here?"

The nurses including some officer that guarding the ward give a salute.

Long-life her step-brother.

"I… I was looking for you," that's not a lie, though. Just now she asked his whereabout. Well, pretty much. She should've going to the other way around and find that blondie.

Chief Evans give an order to his subordinates, they're all elites one from each of the divisions. After the commando was given, his subordinates fall back and leaving them together.

"how is your condition?"

"… I'm… fine?" yeah, most likely.

They headed back to her room. sat down and continue to talk. At first, there is awkward feeling around them. Chief Evans looked like stiffened and thinking something that she was already guessing.

Did Chief Evans meet him? How should I explain the entire story? How is the further report? Where were my subordinates? Last time, what happened that time?

Her chief started first, "We managed to catch some of the criminals…". Oh, Enra felt at ease, at least her chief won't making a fuss by blaming her being late and others stupid reason. "… alive." That sentences freeze her whole mind and body. Enra wanted to vomit some blood from her mouth and sleep for another fifty years. She already knew where the conversation going.

It was a heavy situation. Sixty percent, Enra sure her chief will blaming her for using firearm without consent and late report that she already arrived at the crime scene. The rest, her chief will ask… more like in-depth interview her about her blondie friend.

"before I asked you the crucial question here, there is something that I want to ask about."

Oh, here it come.

"was it you who kill the six culprits at the underground train?"

huh? Enra thought he want to ask about the blondie. so this is not crucial right? Should she lied again?

Enra wondering and thinking the schemes she was about to brag, but her step-brother step in again.

"Don't lied to me, be it was you or not who killed them, the most crucial part is that man right?"

Aww, Enra wanted to jabbed her head right now. She guess, her brother already know almost of the whole story.

"I... did... not," with slow tone.

Chief Evans sighed, "Alright," he started to rose and Enra grabbed his black suit.

"Wait, what are you going to do, Chief?"

"going back to my office, why?"

"err... after that?"

her step brother thinking something and noticed, "Don't worry, your subordinates already doing your task, it must be finished by now."

"No, not that."

"you want to go back home? fine, my subordinate will fetch you later,"

"what about that man?" she finally asked him. thought, she didn't wanted to involved him any longer.

Chief Evans who facing the door, stop all of sudden. There is awkward situation where she think, she taking the bait. He turned around, Enra swear she could see his face become a cold one.

her brother take a sit again.

"what is your relationship with him?"

Enra really wish to avoid this question regarding that man. she can't think anything, her mind full of him, is he alright? where is he? what should she do? will she lied again?

"I suppose you both are a stranger?"

she nodded half and slowly. not sure if this is the best answer. silent won't do any good, especially to a high ranker officer like her brother.

"I see..."

Enra wish this is the last, she needed a time to rest her mind. but her brother won't let her. he asked something which bewildered her more.

"Then tell me, whose car is that? a speedy car reported from a restaurant, coming to the red location, three penalties given to the driver for not responsible and violate the traffic laws. I noticed..."

Gulp.

"You are the passenger,"
