New Life- New Chapter

KEIFER POV

After Davis left, I freshened up and changed into something more presentable.

He really was thoughtful… The guest room closet was surprisingly filled with women's clothing, all in my size. I chose a yellow ankle-length dress, dotted with delicate white and brown flowers. It felt soft, light, and oddly perfect for the morning.

I tied my hair into a half-bun and applied just a touch of makeup—subtle around the eyes, a light gloss on the lips. Then I stepped out, heading toward the dining hall.

Davis sat at the head of the table, dressed in that tailored black suit, exuding quiet authority. His presence was magnetic—like a modern-day god, composed of sharp lines and unreadable strength.

Our eyes met.

My heart betrayed me, beating faster under his steady gaze. A small smirk tugged at his lips like he knew exactly what effect he had on me.

He was slipping into my heart—and I was too aware of it.

"Nakia, come sit and have breakfast," he said, using my new name so casually it made me flinch inside. He nodded to the maid, who pulled out a chair beside his.

We began to eat. For a moment, everything felt… calm.

But then, just as he finished his meal, he turned to me, his tone shifting. Serious. Focused.

"As you're planning to run this new venture with me," he began, "I believe your identity as Nakia Oliver needs some polishing."

I looked at him and nodded. "Hmm?"

"You'll need etiquette training, a foundation in finance, and some real-world business knowledge," he continued. "It's important to strengthen every area that your role will demand."

I stared at him, part of me surprised. Why is he putting so much effort into this? What does he gain by helping someone he's only known for a few weeks?

He caught my confused expression and chuckled softly.

"I just think you have potential," he said, sipping his coffee. "And investing in that potential will benefit me too, eventually."

He paused for a moment, then added, "Also, you should keep pursuing something you're passionate about. Building a stronger public persona means expanding beyond your core field."

I nodded slowly.

"First step: learn the basics of business and finance," he said.

I should've been listening closely, but for a moment, I was completely caught in how serious and composed he looked. I forced myself to push those thoughts away and focus.

Then he looked straight at me.

"Are you ready to transform from Keifer Samuel, a nobody—into Nakia Oliver, Ms. Tycoon?"

My breath caught. The name rolled off his tongue like it belonged to me already. He said it with such belief.

I took a breath and met his gaze. "I'm ready."

"Good," he said. "First, we'll start with business-related activities. I'll be responsible for teaching you."

He leaned back slightly. "From today onward, you'll be working as my PA. You'll shadow me in meetings, observe negotiations, and get firsthand exposure to how this world works."

"I'll handle the company's public side until you're ready to step into the spotlight with your new identity."

I looked at him, amazed. "Thank you, Davis." I meant it. Truly. No one had ever invested in me like this before.

He gave a small nod. "Also… move into my house as soon as possible so we can begin without interruptions."

He smiled slightly—but it vanished almost instantly.

Was that real? Or was my mind just making up things again?

Still reeling, I blinked. Wait… Move into his house?

Before I could even form a protest, he stood up and said with a blank expression, "It'll help us stay focused on our agenda without distractions."

And just like that—he turned and left the room, without waiting for my reply.
