Chapter 27: The Letter

Antonio Romano's POV

I went to pick up the letter and I sat on the bed. I was afraid to read what was inside the envelope but I took a deep breath and I tore it to read the letter that has been prepared for me. It began like this:

Dear Antonio,

If you are reading this letter, it means that I have given up to make you remember who I was or the promise that we have made between us. It has been 5 years since we met in Hungary. I know you must have forgotten me as you are now the eligible bachelor of Italy.

I, however, would never forget your face in my wake or my dreams. You have always been the one for me but I know you would never choose me. I was a clumsy woman and not that very important to you. I was not like the others, I was just me.

Sometimes, I wondered if you ever think about me. Well, to be honest, I was being too hopeful. You were happy in Italy more than you ever be in Hungary. You seek my father to get out of your father's influences and you succeed.
