I looked around, there were very few people in the area. It looked as the venue had been cleared out for VIPs only. There was a box that had been assembled along the steps of the memorial for about 50 guests.
That must be the seating. There was also a lectern and microphones setup with a few cameras to the side. "I guess the president is going to give a speech." My mother is pulling my arm as she follows my father towards the seats.
"Jenny grab your sisters hand." My mother told me. I grabbed Sara's hand and we followed along. When we approached the box, i could see the mall in front if us. The water was absolutely beautiful, a gorgeous royal blue color. And the Washington monument was slowly retracting into the ground. "Wow" i said in excitement.
"Its for better viewing, the monument is retracted underground so it doesn't obstruct the show." I looked around and noticed that most of the seats were being filled up.
"Daddy who are they?" I asked. "Thats the rest of the world council" my father stated matter of factly. There was 9 other world council members and their spouses. It looks like they also brought the children.
I noticed the council members of South America, Asia, Oceania, Caribbean, and India had already arrived. There were also several young boys and girls there as well. One of the girls saw me and smiled.
She walked up and hugged me. "I'm so glad your alright. When you didn't respond last night i was really worried." It was Jessica. Evidently one of her parents was on the world council as well. Judging from where she was sitting i would say that her mother was the representative of Oceana.
"Jess if it wasn't for you calling my mom I probably wouldn't be here." I told her about the aneurysm and that i was ok now. Her eyes got wide discovering her friend almost died. I smiled and told her "I was ok and not to worry."
The other guests soon arrived and we all prepared to take our seats.
