7. Meeting with Leopold Fitz

'Finally, I cracked the ice a little, hopefully, I can get my meeting within a month at least' Grant thought as he stared straight at the opaque barrier in front of him.

For the next 2 weeks, no one came to visit Grant, it looked to him that Coulson was doing some serious thinking on his part as to whether he should let Fitz know about Ward or not.

At the end of the 2nd week, Coulson went to the lab where he saw Fitz sitting alone but he was continuously talking. Coulson knew that after Simmons left Fitz's condition had worsened but he couldn't do anything for him and right now he didn't know if what he was doing was correct or not. He thought that letting Fitz know about Ward can go both ways his condition may improve but it can degrade as well but seeing him now talking with his imagination Coulson decided he would tell Fitz and let him decide whether he wants to meet Ward or not, he didn't believe Ward deserved a second chance but if he wants to apologize he may give it to him.

"Fitz!" Coulson called as he entered the lab.

"Y-Yes, Director Coulson," Fitz said as he turned his head to look towards Coulson and stood from his seat, "Is-Is there some-something you need from me"

"No, I just want to talk to you Fitz, and wanted to tell you something that's all, but you should sit first," Coulson said with a pained expression.

"Ah..ah what is it!?" asked Fitz not liking the way Coulson was looking at him but he still sat on his seat.

"I wanted to tell you that the person who is responsible for your current condition Grant Ward is currently being held down by us in Vault D. Until 3 weeks ago he didn't reply to any of my questions about Hydra and was constantly trying to kill himself the only time he said something to me was to tell his condition that he would only speak to Skye," Coulson said.

Fitz's breath was hitched as he clenched his fist tightly remembering the day Ward dropped the med pod with him and Jemma in it into the ocean.

"Fitz are you alright," asked Coulson grabbing onto his shoulder.

"I-I am fine sir...... please continue," Fitz said shakily.

"3 weeks ago after he woke up from his recent suicide attempt Ward gave me the name of one of the Hydra Head saying that it was his apology to me and he would answer one question about Hydra from each of us as an apology. He gave some info to May about the name that he had given to me and now he is ready to tell us everything about him if you meet him saying that you deserve to vent your anger and frustration at him. I told you this because I thought you deserved to know it Fitz, believe me, I would never force you to meet him just to get information from him." Coulson stated

"No-No I want to meet him," Fitz said the anger in his voice was clear and Coulson could easily identify it.

"Fitz I know you want to kill him but you can't we need him alive," said Coulson fearing that Fitz may kill Ward in anger.

"I won't, I won't kill him" Fitz stated with a freakishly calm voice.

"Ok, when do you want to meet him," asked Coulson seeing that Fitz was calm as hell.

"Now! And if... possible alone" Fitz said this time without much problem.

Coulson could see his anger against Ward was forcing him to stay calm and speak without much stuttering.

"Okay, follow me then," Coulson said as he walked out of the lab with Fitz right behind him.

The moment they stood in front of Vault D, Coulson turned his head to look towards Fitz and said "I would be standing here, Fitz if there's a problem I will come down in a second"

"Ye-Yes sir, Thank You, Director," Fitz said nodding his head as he opened the gate of Vault D and entered inside.

As he walked down the stairs and looked at the Inertial Confinement Laser Barrier which was in Opaque form he picked up the tablet kept near the chair and changed it into transparent.

The moment he changed the barrier transparent he saw Ward standing on the other side of the Inertial Confinement Laser Barrier looking straight towards him.

"Fitz! You are here, I knew you would come to meet me the moment Coulson tells you about this place" said Grant with a smile.

Seeing that smile Fitz couldn't control himself and asked "Wha-What did you think will.... ha-ha-happen Ward!? You will apo-apologize and I will forgive you!? You will share Hydra...... in-in-information and I will forgive you"

"No Fitz I know you won't forgive me, I just wanted to apologize for my mistake. I know what I did is unforgivable but I just wanted to apologize to you, Fitz I am sorry" said Grant as bowed his head a little letting Fitz know that he meant it.

"Apo-apology! Yo-You think your apology means anything!? Did-Did you knew what happened to-to me!? I- My brain isn't like before my-my hands don't work as before all because of you! Because of you I -I suffered from hy-hy-hypoxia. Do you know what it is Ward!? Can-Can you imagine it" said Fitz as he held the tablet and opening the system of Inertial Confinement Laser Barrier.

Fitz used the barrier as an air filter to reduce the oxygen inside the cell so that Ward could experience the same hypoxia effects he suffered when Ward ejected him and Jemma from the Bus inside a Medical Pod.

"Fritz!" called Grant but it didn't look like Fitz was going to pity him.

"This happened to me, Ward! I was in a coma for 9 days because of you" said Fitz as he showed the tablet to Grant.

"It was SUPPOSED TO FLOAT!" Grant shouted the last few words as he fell onto his knees.

"What!?" asked Fitz as he released the oxygen back in the Inertial Confinement Laser Barrier, he promised Coulson that he won't kill Ward, so he won't kill him and he wanted to hear what he meant.

"The medical pod was supposed to float in the ocean Fitz!"
