A New Reality

The decision to take up a job at the Empire Hotel was not an easy one for Nora. She had never worked a day in her life, and the thought of cleaning rooms, scrubbing floors, and serving guests was daunting. But she knew that she couldn't rely on her father any longer. The money he once provided for their every need was now being spent on Helena and Vanessa. Nora had to step up for the sake of her mother and sister.

Evelyn tried to dissuade her, but Nora was determined. She was tired of seeing her mother struggle to make ends meet and her health and her sister go to bed hungry. The thought of her family suffering any longer was unbearable. So, she put on her bravest face, donned the uniform of a cleaner, and walked into the Empire Hotel to begin her new life.

The first day was overwhelming. The hotel was a far cry from the grandeur of the Andrews estate, but it was a different kind of luxury. Guests from all over the world filled the halls, and the staff worked tirelessly to maintain the pristine appearance of the hotel. Nora quickly learned that the job was physically demanding, far more than she had anticipated.

But there was something about the work that was oddly satisfying. Nora found a sense of purpose in her duties. Each room she cleaned, each bed she made, was a step towards reclaiming control over her life. She was no longer the helpless daughter of a wealthy man. She was Nora Andrews, a survivor, and she would do whatever it took to protect her family.
