Isabella found Mira in the Bathroom. She'd let her have a few minutes to herself before coming in.
Mira was sitting on the ground, her back against the wall, knees pulled in and her head down.
Isabella sat down next to her.
"Hey..." she said. Mira didn't look up, she merely mumbled 'hi'.
"What's his name?" Isabella asked after a minute.
"William. They named him after my grandpa." She replied, very quietly. They sat in silence for a while. The only noise was the dripping of water from a leaking sink and sniffling from Mira.
"When my sister was... taken... it was hard to accept it at first. It took a lot of time. I think it would've been helpful to have a friend a talk to during that time. So, I'm here for you. If there's anything I can do, I'll do my best to help you. Sometimes the only thing you need is for someone to listen, someone who can understand. Don't bottle it up inside of you. You have Adam, me and everyone else. We're all here for you." Isabella put her arm over Mira's shoulders.
Mira finally lifted her head.
"Thanks Isabella."
The two stayed there for a while, then headed up to the dormitories.
Mira didn't seem ready to talk yet, so Isabella handed her her favorite book. Mira took it with a smile.
It was a good decision to read. It would take her mind off of things temporarily. At least until she was able to talk about it. But for now a little peace was needed.
Isabella shut their dormitory door, leaving Mira to read, and headed to the common room. She found Adam seated in an armchair reading the Daily Prophet.
"How is she?" He asked, as Isabella sat in the armchair beside his.
"For now, ok. She needs to take it in.... accepting it is the hardest part." Isabella replied, a distant look in her eyes. She recalled that after her sister's disappearance she would sleep in her sister's room. Sometimes she'd stay there for hours a day. It went on for a couple of weeks.
She glanced at Adam. He had a solemn look on his face. Of course, Isabella thought. Mira and Adam are really close, Adam probably knew her family pretty well.
"How are you?" She asked. He set the newspaper down.
"Fine."
Fine was always a lie.
But she wouldn't press on the matter. At least, not yet.
She looked at the newspaper on Adam's lap. The front page had a photograph of a man. It was blurry, hard to see. But Isabella's eyes widened at the sight of it. She recognized it.
"Adam, pass me the newspaper." She said with slight urgency in her voice. He handed it to her quickly.
'It's him.' She thought.
"What is it?" Adam asked, seeing the look on her face.
"I.... I know this man. He's the same one who.... who took her." Adam knew what she meant. Her sister. "It's been so long... what is he doing....." she thought out loud. She skimmed through the article.
It was saying how a muggle camera had caught him breaking into wizard homes. It just happened to be that a wizarding family lived next door to a muggle family. There was a wide search going on now, Ministry officials were looking all over for the man. They have had no other leads though. They don't know his motives, location or anything about him. Everyone is supposed to report any sort of suspicious activity, and anyone who knows about him and doesn't say anything will face punishment.
Whatever this man's reasons were, he had to have some sort of mental illness... kidnapping children? What was he up to? Isabella thought.
"I hope they catch him and send him to Azkaban*. It shouldn't have been William." Adam said, he got up and ran up to the boys dormitory. Isabella couldn't agree more with him.
Azkaban- a heavily guarded prison for bad wizards patrolled by dementors (they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them. Get too close to a Dementor and every good feeling, every happy memory will be sucked out of you. If it can, the Dementor will feed on you long enough to reduce you to something like itself... soulless and evil). It's the worst punishment for wizards.
