Unlikely Valentine 2

Behind all the broken train wagons and wagons there looked like there was a huge hole in the wall of the subway station, the entrance to vault 114 could be seen from here.

Nora: "Just how many vaults are there..."

Alex: "Quite a few in the Commonwealth actually, yours isn't so well known but the ones near the city are either constantly fought over or people are still trying to break their way inside."

Nora didn't really show much of an expression, after all even she didn't know how to react to the piece of news. Using the pip boy to open the vault door, Alex threw a grenade inside as soon as there was an opening.

*BOOM*

"ARGH!!"

"FUCKIN' HELL!!"

Two guards that were taking a smoke brake were completely torn by the shrapnel, no longer recognisable.

Alex: "The corridors are narrow and so are the rooms so make sure you turn corners extremely carefully."

He instructed Nora as they made their way to the elevator of the vault, which they found was broken so they had to jump through the top hatch.

Alex halted Nora as they took cover at the sides of the elevator, he spotted the shadows of a gangster hiding at the first corner they would take.

*BANG*

He took one shot with one of his revolvers which bounced twice off the iron walls of the vault, bullet making its way to the man's chest.

Alex: "Coast is clear."

They made their way through the vault taking care of all gunmen that stood in their way, both Alex and Nora unharmed so far. Once they entered a large hall with a wide stairway leading to three floors, they realised there were no gangsters and the silence was broken by the sound of one voice.

"C'mon Nickie, just tell me what Skinny Malone wants to hear and you'll be a free man... well maybe not man but free nonetheless." A man wearing a black suit was speaking to what they could tell was Valentine.

Nick: "Dino, we both know that Skinny Malone will ice both of us once I open my mouth." His voice was pretty muffled as he was standing behind an iron door with one small glass window to reveal his face.

Dino: "The both of us, what do you-"

*BANG*

Alex couldn't be bothered to wait for Dino to leave so he iced him before Skinny Malone could, one shot from his rifle blew his head like it was a balloon.

Nick: "Who's there?!" Nick was startled by the horrific scene, thinking it was one of Skinny Malone's goons who took care of Dino.

What he saw through the window however was a man and a woman walking towards his cell, one dressed like a cowboy and armed to the teeth and the other like the typical wasteland survivor. Except that she looked a bit too intact and unharmed, he could tell that she used to be a vault dweller straight away.

Nora: "Nick Valentine I presume?" Nora was a little surprised to say the least when she saw that Nick was not human... she couldn't tell what he was.

Nick: "First time seeing a synth eh? Normal reaction, don't worry about it. You know me but I don't know either of you, so you mind telling me what's going on?"

Alex: "I was hired by Ellie to break you out of here, she took up the job because she needs your help." He pointed towards Nora when he spoke.

Nick analysed the man and from first glance he could tell he wasn't as simple as Nora, face hidden by the mask and voice as cold as ice.

Nick: "Hired by Ellie you say... well let's speak more about what you need my help for once we get out of here. There's a terminal-"

*Psh*

The sound of the door to his cell opening cut off his speech, leaving him a bit dumbfounded.

Alex: "Let's go, the sooner we out of this tin can the better." Alex took care of the terminal with his maxed out hacker skill.

Nick: "Amen to that."

With four of them instead of the three like in the game, it was a lot easier to take care of the triggermen especially with Alex's capability.

Nick: "You're one hell of a shot, didn't quite catch your name cowboy." Nick was impressed with Alex's skill, his first time witnessing such marksmanship.

Alex: "Alex." He gave a short reply while reloading his revolver.

Nick: "Well it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Alex."

Alex didn't reply and only tilted his hat in a greeting kind of fashion, Nick not really minding his silence.

Finally outside the vault the scene that greeted them was not that pleasurable at all-Skinny Malone and his girlfriend Darla were blocking their escape with a couple of goons behind him.

Malone: " is if you think that I'll just let you waltz out of here-"

Alex: "Clear the fucking way before I turn you and your crew into Swiss cheese faster then your trigger finger starts itching." He spoke with such bloodlust that even Nora and Nick got chills running down their backs.

Darla: "S-sugar you cant let him-"

Malone: "Shut your mouth Darla.... and step aside." For some reason Malone had the feeling that the second he tried anything it will be the last time he ever will.

Skinny Malone and his crew made way for the trio and dog, sweat pouring down Malone's forehead like a waterfall.

Nick and Nora once passing the crew and making some distance looked at Alex's back in both respect and fear.

Alex: "Nora listen, get to Diamond City with Nick and he'll help you with your 'problem'. I'm going to take care of the job that Preston gave me since I can't put it on hold any longer." Alex found that the coordinates from the settlement and his current location weren't so far.

Nora: "A-alright... take care I guess. If I want to meet you again where will I find you?" No way will she let this be the last time they meet.

Alex: "I'll come back to Diamond City once I finish my job, if I'm not back in maximum one week then I'm most likely dead." Alex was surprised with himself for being able to say such things so lightly.

Nora nodded very reluctantly, but Shawn was her priority right now so she followed Nick. Even Dogmeat whimpered a bit when noticing that Alex is going in an opposite direction to Nora, not knowing which one to follow.

Alex gave the dog one look that told it to not follow, and protect Nora. Dogmeat gave a bark of reassurance to Alex and ran to Nora's side, Alex responded with a tip of the hat.
