Transylvania, 1475 AD
"Vlad! You need to stop! The blood lust is slowly taking over your soul, once it does, you won't be any different from a blood thirsty beast!" Acheron said.
"Shut up Acheron! I know what I am doing! I don't need your concern or your help!" Vlad said
"You better be right Vlad, because if you lose yourself to it, ill have no choice but to kill you and your servants! Don't make me kill my beloved's brother!" Acheron said as he stormed out of the room.
As Acheron walked through the halls of the Wallachian Castle that Vlad ruled over, countless thoughts ran through his head.
He didn't mind that Vlad killed his younger brother for the throne earlier this year, who was he to stop any one in their search for power?
He was worried, the power of the siblings had slowly changed them. Thalia, Vlad's twin sister and Acheron's lover, had not been tainted by her powers as much as her brother and her followers were also like her with their self-control.
But, Vlad and his followers have been indulging too much in their thirst for blood, they drank humans dry and ate their flesh just for a slight increase in power. This overindulgence had caused their skin has slowly get a purple tint to it and their already disadvantageous weaknesses have been more and more apparent.
Acheron likes to think Thalia ended up so well, do to her following his instructions on curving her hunger and blood thirst.
He had promised Thalia that he won't give up trying to help him but the oncoming war with the Ottomans has Vlad doing unspeakable things to both enemy and the innocent.
He had reached his Beloved's bed chambers and without knocking, walked in.
"My love, how did it go with my brother?" said Thalia
"*sigh* same as always my dear, he won't listen to my council and I'm afraid that I might have to kill him…"
Acheron had reached the side of the bed where Thalia laid, he wrapped his arms around her and just cuddled for a bit,
"Are you sure you won't join us?" asked Thalia, "I know you are strong, for my brother has never beaten you in a duel even with all his power that he currently possesses"
"You know I don't need it, we have been together for 10 years already, so I know what is going through your mind" Acheron said as he squeezed Thalia a little closer to him,
"You are not worried of me beating your brother in battle without powers but the fact that you will outlive me since you have barely aged since you were 25"
"I'm scared," said Thalia, "I love you so much, and the fact that you will die one day, as I continue to live on… that thought terrifies me"
Acheron had never told her, or her brother, what he really was.
10 years before,
Acheron found himself in Transylvania one day and saw this beautiful woman standing underneath the shadow of a tree.
Her black hair and pearly white skin was something he found beautiful, but what really captivated him were her eyes, a blood red pair of eyes that seem to shimmer like rubies in the shadows.
Acheron started to spend more time with her, occasionally meeting underneath the tree, and then meeting almost every day.
One day, Thalia had fought with her brother and was injured, so she left the castle for the day. She needed blood to heal and found a young maiden walking through the streets, her fangs grew, and she sank them into her neck.
Unfortunately for her, Acheron happened to be walking by and saw everything. Thalia panicked, she realized that her feeling for Acheron grew every day and she loved spending time with him but now, she thought everything was destroyed.
She didn't know how to explain herself to him, she just stood there frozen in place as tears threaten to fall from her ruby-like eyes.
She wanted to escape from there when she saw that he was walking towards, she didn't want him to shout at her and call her monster.
Acheron reached for her and Thalia closed her eyes in fear of what was to come.
Acheron just gently wiped the blood from her lips, Thalia opened her eyes in surprise only to see Acheron's eyes looking at her filled with love.
"Are you not scared? Don't you think I am some kind of monster?" she asked
"No," Acheron said, "I still love you, besides… I have seen worse things than someone sucking blood"
Acheron grabbed the innocent girl from her arms, he put her down on chair nearby then turned to look at Thalia.
He walked up to her, he gently caressed her face before leaning in for a kiss. After couple a seconds, Acheron pulled back and looked right in to her eyes.
Those abyss-like eyes that held a purple light within them, looked right into her blood ruby- like eyes, an eternity seemed to pass as the both looked into each other confirming their feelings for each other.
"Let's go on a walk, let me hear your story" Acheron said as he reached for her hand.
Taking his hand into hers, Thalia nodded,
"Yeah, let's go"
Back to Acheron and Thalia cuddling in their room.
*knock* *knock*
"Lord Acheron, Lady Thalia? The king requires your presence in the throne room, it appears the Ottomans will be attacking tomorrow" One of Thalia's followers said just outside their room.
"Understood, go grab the rest of our group and head there first" said Thalia as she slowly and unwillingly separated from Acheron's embrace.
Also, at that moment, a white owl knocked on the window,
"That must be from my family" said Acheron
Acheron opened the window and grabbed the letter on the owl's leg, he caressed the owl while he read the letter, the owl cooed from Acheron's loving touch.
"Good work, go take a rest" Acheron said to the owl, then the owl took off into the night.
"What does it say?" Asked Thalia,
"Its better we meet your brother first, he needs to hear it too" Acheron said
Acheron and Thalia were the last to arrive in the throne room, Thalia's people were on the right, while Vlad's were on the left, they clearly didn't like to be associated with each other.
Vlad's followers stank of blood and death, while some had feral look in their eyes. While Thalia's followers were dignified, almost like a group of nobles, showing clear contempt and disdain for the other side.
Walking down, the aisle Acheron looked right at Vlad,
"We have a big problem; the church has sent 300 exorcists and they will arrive by tomorrow!" he said,
"The Ottomans must have gotten wind of this and probably has made new plans to take advantage of this"
