The Twilight Maiden

The moon above the Land of Dawn; gleaming and shining upon the wasted, chaotic part of the southern lands. Things are not exactly what they were used to be at the Fortress of Despair, the abode of the damned souls, and necromancers. The whole place went wild as the queen Vexana starved and cried out in hunger. It was the terror of the evening at the fortress. Leomord rode his way back to the fortress and witnessed Vexana's unbearable tantrums. "Leomord!" Vexana cried out with a sickly voice. "An unexpected scene is this my queen?" Leomord replied, he jumped off his horse, walking down the aisle towards her majesty's throne where he could sense the queen's great agony.

"I told you to bring enough soldiers for me to devour and yet you digressed! How dare you insult my command!" Vexana replied and screeched in anger and moved the entire fortress horrifying everyone including her dark armies and its subordinates for the fear of getting sacrificed.

A dark prophet appeared at a sudden moment. It was wearing a crimson-black coat, wielding a crooked staff, and its eyes were like blazing fire. It spoke to Vexana, "My queen, a terror awaits all of us in the future! A prophecy I have made, a bad thing for us to wait!" The prophet said. Vexana shook in pain, mumbled things that only she could understand, and sits down on her throne, sighing in grief.

"What could be that prophecy?" Leomord asked. The prophet gazed upon him for a while and said, "I have but only the mind of an incarnate! Only minds filled with the wisdom of the gods can understand this message. I am not saying that I have concluded that this message is a bad omen but the feeling after seeing this is such a mystery and unexplainable! I can only show it in just a split second because its mystical energy drains all my powers,"

The prophet raised up his crooked staff with black trimmings. Ablaze came and out, the dark chaotic energy circling around, creating peculiar clusters of outcomes of the future events... the wind starts to blow heavily, the room starts to shake and things start to fall from their places. Vexana grimaced. She stands up and raises her hand reaching the clusters then a vision shows up inside her mind. "The prophecy had foretold,

That a child born out of evil and good,

Will be the greatest catastrophe of ours!

The child had grown into a fine young lady! A lady cloaked in the power of chaos and order, she can balance both energy struggling inside her body..." Vexana filled her heart with immense fear and she immediately takes her hand out of the clusters, breath-panicking. "A lady... Balance of light and dark...!" Vexana says while catching her breath. "Balance of light and dark?" Leomord interjected,

"She will be one of our enemies! She will destroy us all!" Vexana replied with fear and a shaky vibe in her voice.

"So who must be this lady?!" Leomord asked.

"It doesn't matter! What matters is that we should defeat the enemy immediately! If in fact that this lady is our enemy, then she must be part of the Moniyan Empire!" The prophet replied and laid his staff. "I have my thoughts about this certainly but maybe just to be sure, I'll send some of our soldiers to spy around every tribe and if they'd find any lady that's too suspicious, I'll be giving them the authority to engage it!" Vexana replied. She sits down on her throne, still thinking about the bad vision. Leomord falls silent for a while, thinking deeply. "I swore to protect the fortress even if it costs my life! I slept thousands of years outside of this world and you woke me back, your majesty. The longer I believe of this reincarnation as a gift from you the clearer I've understood after knowing the contingency. A mirror, I am reflecting about myself that I am only a flaw re-created by a foolish necromancer thought of serving her duties but is only longing for utter destruction and immortal pain in our souls!" Leomord aggressively said. After hearing this, Vexana's eyes cast out a flame in it and growled in anger.

"YOU WOULDN'T HAVE GAINED THIS POWER NOT BECAUSE OF ME YOU FOOL! I DID THIS IN ORDER TO PROTECT WHAT IS MINE AND YOUR ONLY JOB IS TO PROTECT WHAT I HAVE!" Vexana falls to the ground, crawling towards Leomord. She was critically injured after Tigreal's expeditionary force's attack. "Is this how you see your duties? To make people's lives even more complicated just to fulfill your selfish desires? I am dead and I am glad to take myself back into the grave after hearing those foolish words of yours, your majesty. I served you to protect the souls of my warriors and not to fulfill all of your self-centered will, my queen!" Leomord replied and he took his sword the Oath Keeper and left. "LEOMORD! I COMMAND YOU....!" Vexana was about to initiate a command but Leomord left. As he rode with his horse among the fortress gates, he can still hear Vexana's scream at a distant. A hopeless, despaired scream.

To know the truth is but a change. A change that could affect one's self. Knowing the truth is much more than seeking knowledge. Beyond the understanding of the human mind, not in any other context, the truth that we seek is also the thing that'll bring us into our own destruction. Knowing the truth, you do not want to know the truth. It is indefinite indeed and it hides a sharp knife or a flower with a lovely fragrance. You can tell the outcome by using your senses and I don't smell any sweet aromatic fragrance ahead. Now that the heaven's have made a prophecy, I appreciate their truthfulness and even though at the end of our paths we'll still fail in this life, by that immediate knowledge, I think that I should accept my downfall because I can no longer believe in the fact that I am just reincarnated as a criminal that can only be satisfied with destruction and chaos. That's what my heart wants and something keeps on dragging me to do those things! Why? This heart is dead so why?! Why am I still suffering in all of the sins inside this heart of mine? I need to know! I really need to know what is this feeling that lingers inside of me and that keeps on telling me to commit those sins! I really need to know. I could've gone mad with it.

But 'twas good for the peculiar lady though. The balance is in her hands.

"The lady of dark and light..."

I find you very interesting.
