Chapter 5

The One was the title that can only be obtain during the awakening ceremony. Only 5 lucky teens who awakened their power during the awakening ceremony will be able to obtain this title for each big city. This title increased the experience obtained by 3 times. Last year 5 teens obtain this title during their awakening ceremony in Eplia City. One of them was someone from the Stries Clan. Rumors said that he already advanced to Rank 2 while most of his peers just advanced to Rank 1.

Awakening Ceremony was held every year during the spring's first month. Awakening ceremony was a ceremony to awaken the power locked within human bodies. This awakening can only happened when a human turn 15 or they will turn 15 that year. If human tried to awaken before they were 15, they will die. The 15 years old limit only applied to human. For other races, they randomly awakened without warning.

When human awakened their powers, they will be able to see their own status however they can't see other people status unless they learn appraisal. They will be able to see their stats point, their skills and talents. Each human can only learn 5 skills and had 5 talents.

Talents determined how fast they master their skills. For example, if the person had swords talents, it will be easier to master swords related skills. However, the speed to master the skills also depends on the talents affinity. Using the previous example, swords talent with 90% affinity will improve the mastery of the swords skills much faster than 30% affinity. Talents was permanent, what they get during the awakening ceremony won't change forever.

During the awakening ceremony, the awakened will randomly gain at least 1 skill. Unlike talents, skills can be remove and added except the 1st slot skill. The 1st slot skill was permanent. If they were lucky, they will get their 1st slot skill related to their talents but rarely people get skills unrelated to their talents.

Eplia City – Southern Area.

The Southern Area of Eplia City was managed by The Stries Clan. The Stries Clan was well known for their talents in beast elements and martial arts. Talents obtained during the awakening ceremony were also affected by genes. For example, if one the parents and grandparents had fire elements talent, their children might have some chance of getting the fire elements talent. The Stries Clan member usually will get either beast elements or martial arts talent. If there were people outside of their clan have these talents, they will recruit them into their clan.

The Southern Area of Eplia City was specialized in meat. Many kind of meat can be found in this area. The restaurant in this area also specialized in meat dishes. Shops in this area usually do business related to animals or monsters since these two were related to meat.

Inside one of the restaurant in the Southern Area Third Section, a young boy with brown hair was busy serving the customer. He was around 170 cm, not too thin and not chubby either. His body is just right for an average teenager. He had a nice attitude and business smile too giving the customers a pleasant feeling.

"Here is your Roasted Thunder Buffalo Meat with Lemon. Enjoy it," said Ethan while smiling.

It's been 9 years since Ethan live in this city. Ethan was already 15. He will be awakened soon. A year after he live in Eplia City, the royal family stopped providing him money. He already getting used to living in the city at that time so the royal family stopped the money. Ethan didn't mind about it much since he used to be independent.

"Any more orders ready?" asked Ethan to one of his coworkers.

"No…," his coworkers stared at him.

"What's wrong?" asked Ethan.

"You're really quitting?"

"Yeah."

"You're really going to become an Adventurer?"

"Yeah."

"Good luck,"

"Thank you,"

A few hours later they were closing the restaurant.

"This is your last day, Ethan. I wish you luck. Be careful out there. It's really hard to become a successful adventurer. It's really dangerous. Be safe and don't forget to come visit us," said the restaurant to Ethan.

"Thank you, Boss. I will work hard and become S Rank adventure," said Ethan while laughing.

"Stop joking around. It's not easy to succeed as adventurer. More people lost their lives than becoming successful," said the coworker who talked to Ethan earlier that day.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine. Just wait," said Ethan.

Ethan than left the restaurant and reached his home.

"Gooey, I'm home. Here, I brought some food for you," said Ethan and took out leftover food he got from the restaurant.

Gooey is Ethan pet slime. He was colorless. Ethan found Gooey who got lost on the street near his home a few weeks ago. He found it cute and brought it home.

Gooey then eat the food and then made the sound "Goo.. goe… gee…" and bouncing around happily.

"I don't understand what you said but I guess you like the food. I think you like anything I give you though," said Ethan while smiling.

After feeding Gooey, Ethan took a bath and went straight to bed. Gooey jump and sit beside Ethan.

"Tomorrow, I will finally awaken my power. I will train hard to become stronger and I will hunt you down," said Ethan in a serious voice while clenching his fist.

"Mom, dad, Eliya. I will kill that guy for you,"

Ethan's lifelong dreams was to become a farmer but after his family was killed 9 years ago, he decided to seek revenge for them. So, he decided to become an adventurer. Adventurer was a common job for a Ranker. Many Ranker chose to become adventurer because they get lots of experience from all the jobs that they can do as an adventurer. With an adventurer license, they get access to a lot of benefit including dungeons, discount on equipment and many more. The higher their rank as adventurer, the more benefit they will get.

The next day. Central Area, Gryth City.

Eplia city were filled with people. Teenagers from small cities, towns and village nearby went to Eplia city to attend the awakening ceremony. Awakening ceremony can only be done in big city. The reason was unknown. There were people who tried doing the awakening ceremony on their town in the past but they failed. The awakening ceremony of Eplia City were done at the central area, Gryth City. That day was the only day commoners were allowed to step into Gryth City.

"Whoa, there are too many people," said Ethan. "Will I be able to meet Luke and June. No, even if I can get a glance of them is enough. I miss them a lot"

For the past 9 years, Ethan never once met Luke or June. Since they live in totally different area, so it's impossible to see each other.

"Kya, look, that emblem, they are from the Stries Clan," said some bystander.

Ethan looks towards them and saw the Stries Clan. Ethan can feel the aura coming from them.

"We won't be able the other clan, the enter from different gates," said another bystander.

"Sigh," Ethan sighed "Well, if we are fated to meet each other, we will meet in the future,"

"We will now begin awakening ceremony," a voice reverberates throughout the whole area.

"Once the magic circle activate you will be able to see your status. You will only see your name and age at the beginning and more and more information will appear as the ceremony takes place. Good luck. We will start now."

Suddenly under their feet, a small magic circle appeared and shone. The status showing their name and age appeared in front of them.

"Whoa, do you see this?"

"I can't see yours, but I see mine."

So, it's time," Ethan smile.

Age - 15

More and more of Ethan's status appeared in front of him but…

"Hmm, why is this blurry? Is this normal?"

The ceremony reached the end.

"Why can't I see my status information? Why is it still blurry?" Ethan panicked.

Bzzzt…. Bzzzt…. Ethan status information buzzing and suddenly Ethan fall on his knees.

"Haa! Haa! What's going on? My body suddenly feels weak," Ethan's heart beat rapidly.

The ceremony end. Ethan still on his knees. His body feels really weak.

"Status," Ethan summoned his status information.

"WHAT!!"
