Chapter 1392 ‘Future’

Ignoring the previous topic for now, Mitsuya began telling his side of things.

Due to a certain incident and a mutation in the Telos Karma, Mitsuya and its former owner, Momiji Nakiri, underwent a transformation that fused them with their counterparts from the 'future' world.

There were rumors suggesting that Momiji was the original possessor of the Longinus Telos Karma until it was confiscated by Mitsuya Kanzaki, and then eventually disappearing, but this couldn't be further from the truth.

While the 'future' Mitsuya was pulled into the current world, the Momiji of this world was drawn towards the 'future.' This created a connection between the two instances of Telos Karma they possessed, and this link was further strengthened when Gasper from the 'future' made a breakthrough in his research, and Restoras from the 'future' decided to take both Mitsuya and Momiji under his wing.

"Can you divulge more information regarding the incident that caused all of this?" Kisuke interrupted.

Mitsuya shook his head, "Even if I wanted to, I don't have any idea what truly happened back then. But according to Gasper and Restoras, there are traces within the Telos Karma itself that it absorbed a massive amount of Spiritual Power."

Seraselbes' eyes immediately darted toward Kisuke.

Kisuke leaned back in his seat and quickly added, "I won't deny that it might have something to do with me or Yoruichi since the use of Spiritual Power back then was very limited, but there's also no evidence pointing to us."

Since there was no point in dwelling on it, Mitsuya continued his story.

Thanks to the fusion of the two individuals, Mitsuya came to possess the memories of his 'future' self and was able to communicate with Restoras. This was also the reason Restoras began a project that could potentially counter Melvazoa's supremacy.

"And that project is?" Kisuke inquired.

Mitsuya's eyes became serious as he answered without hesitation, "To throw the 'future' Melvazoa down into this world."

Kisuke and Seraselbes remained silent, but Mitsuya could sense the subtle hostility emanating from them. Nevertheless, he pressed on, "Even with his tyrannical ability, he wouldn't be able to return to the 'future' and would essentially be erased from that world."

"That's quite the confidence you have," Seraselbes commented. "What makes you so sure he won't be able to return? Are you banking on the possibility that he wouldn't care which world he exists in? If so, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but out of all people in this universe, he's the one who would do anything to return to where he's from."

[Are you confirming that his ability would be rendered useless if he's thrown into a different timeline?] Restoras suddenly asked.

Seraselbes paused, carefully considering her response before saying, "...It's nothing more than a theory based on hopes and dreams."

Kisuke sighed. "Setting aside that project that I'd oppose with everything I have, why the 'past'? I know the Telos Karma connects to the past, but you mentioned this is Vladi-san's research, so it shouldn't be so limiting. Wouldn't it make more sense to seek help from the future, where it's possible that Melvazoa has already been defeated, instead of meddling with the past, where he's still alive and kicking?"

Mitsuya nodded. "From what I heard, that's what Gasper and those around him intended to do initially, so they tried contacting the 'future' worlds. However, none of them replied."

Kisuke and Seraselbes understood. Either the method of contact was impossible from the start, or their counterparts in those 'future' worlds no longer existed—already proven by Gasper's success in reaching out to past timelines.

"They were defeated and don't exist anymore," Seraselbes muttered the harrowing possibility.

"I'd rather save one world than let two perish," Mitsuya confirmed.

There were many holes in Mitsuya's story, but Kisuke could grasp the core of his explanation. He could also understand Mitsuya's decision and, given similar circumstances, might have made the same choice. However, the fact that Mitsuya and Restoras planned to throw such a dangerous force into their world couldn't be easily overlooked, and Kisuke's subtle hostility revealed his feelings.

"I hope I'm correct in assuming you've abandoned that project by revealing it to us?" Kisuke asked.

"Of course," Mitsuya nodded. "I wouldn't have come here in the first place if I wasn't. I'm not confident in escaping from you, and sooner or later, you'd figure out what we were planning and maybe even reverse the situation."

"You're giving me too much credit," Kisuke responded.

"Is that what you say to people who underestimate you?" Mitsuya asked with a smile.

Kisuke fell silent for a few moments before sighing, "So, what's the plan now?"

Restoras answered instead of Mitsuya. [We'll go with Chimune's original plan, although I'm not sure how feasible it is.]

"Holy Mother-san's plan?"

[Hmm? Since Seraselbes is here, I assumed she'd already shared that with you.]

"She only told me to find the 'map,' the 'shipbuilder,' and the 'navigator.' I think she'll tell me what to do once I find them."

"Hold on," Seraselbes interjected. "I have an idea of what you're trying to do, but why are you making this so complicated?"

Mitsuya thought for a moment before saying, "I think the experienced world traveler here can explain that."

Kisuke rubbed his chin, taking a minute to contemplate, and then responded, "It's because the closer the worlds are, the farther they are."

"Enough with the wordplay! Explain it properly!" Seraselbes was about to slam the table but stopped when she saw the drinks, reigning herself in.

Kisuke considered the situation carefully before explaining, "I'm sure you're familiar with the multiverse theory and how every decision creates a new parallel world, so we'll skip that. What I'm trying to say is that these parallel worlds, while seemingly close, are entirely separate, and no interference is allowed between them, as if there's a corrective force preventing it."

He paused, recalling how Soul Society was much harder to reach compared to the Dungeon World to Draconic Deus. Even now, communication between them requires physical messengers. "Meanwhile, there's less resistance if you're trying to go to a completely different dimension. These invisible barriers and forces grow stronger the more similar the world's histories are."

Restoras' concerns about feasibility stemmed from the differences between the two worlds. Since some individuals, like Kisuke himself, apparently don't exist in the future, and they are on different time axis, traveling between them might be possible if done correctly.

"We're not trying to overcomplicate things. It's just that difficult."
