Chapter 33

Tony was able to grasp all of this as of his observations and gossips among the servants during his first year here. He knew that the matriarch was not the same in tonality as the voice he heard when he was out of the womb.

Moreover, despite not having a clear vision as a newborn he was able to smell there wasn't that fragrance on her adopted mother. And the way she treats him is more formal than would a real mother.

The real clincher was from her real mother being allowed in the raising of him from his birth. But his life as the son of the family wasn't that stable, because in 1911 came the Xinhai Revolution which overthrew the dynasty.

When he was 3 years old, during the time of turmoil his real mother decided to take him far away to start a new life together. She overheard a meeting between the heads of the family that they would send her away now that she has no use to the family.

Moreover the Matriarch was jealous that her husband was paying more and more attention to a servant maid. So she persuaded him with her evil tongue that letting her close to his son would disrupt his proper development to inherit the family.

Even though she took him out of the family quietly in the middle of the night, the plan was found by the first wife. As she looked back his mother saw a group of men in distance holding torches.

Seeing that her demise will soon be here she hugged him for a second then told Tony in her tears, "Hui Liang, Mama needs to go somewhere. Run away quickly, don't let anyone from the family find you."

"No Mom! We can run away together," tears flow down from Tony's eyes as he hugs her tightly, "If we can just run far away from Foshan nobody will find you."

In his heart Tony knows that this can't be true because as soon as the sun rose up there he wanted posters tagged in front of the nearest city border walls. He's also aware of his father's vast influential connections with the city officials.

Even if they could find a way to not get caught and survive in the wilderness for a week. They could not live forever in such a way of life, furthermore a woman in this traditional society couldn't get work that easily.

Especially a woman of unknown origins with a child that needs to earn enough to feed another mouth. But the consequences of officials finding her would also result in her son being caught back in the family.

With her two hands widing away the tears on the young face, she smiled happily and said, "Hui Liang...You're the happiest thing that came into my life. Now run!! Don't let them catch you!" She pushes his little body away from her.

As he ran a small distance in this wheat field he turned his head once more to look at her mother with tears in her eyes as she watched him go. Before heading back into the open dirt road to mislead the city soldiers that are coming close.

As he runs through the field he hears in the distance a soldier shouting, "Look!! There's the maid who kidnapped the Wu family son!!! Catch her!"

'Mom, thank you for sacrificing for me. I promise I will take revenge for all your indignity,' he swears in his heart as his cries turn into cries of anger and hate. From this moment forth this became his mission, to be the David which crumbles Goliath.

Leaving the familiar home which he was born into and the comfortable life as Wu clan's young master. Tony was taken in by a couple of older children that live in the streets abandoned by their parents.

Within 2 years the other kids no longer looked at him as a child but members standing on equal shoulders. At 5 years old he was able to fight kids that are more than twice his age with ease.

At age 6 he was able to create a small size gang consisting of around 2 dozen children. And using the money they have he piled together to open a food stall selling a variety of foreign style foods never seen before.

When he was 7 years old he had already grown the business to 6 street stalls in many areas of Foshan. But because he had such a successful business many local bullies wanted to collect protection money.

Though he was only 6 years old he beat those groups of small local bullies into pulps. Absorbing them into his own gang which is now consisting of more than 30 people.

And using all the saved up money piled from everyone in a year Tony opened up a liquor store. In the beginning it was relatively unprofitable due to the store being quite new in Foshan.

However, business was rolling in profits once people started liking the tastes of the new liquors he's selling. Yet business wasn't going so stable once other gangs started to create a ruckus.

Many of these gangs wanted a share of the cash flow or else they threatened to ruin his shop. But Tony only scoffed at their low-level atrocity.

At this period of time there were pistols although it cost a huge sum for gangs to buy from the black market. So it's mainly a product only the wealthy, military, and rare shipping merchants can easily get their hands upon.

Tony used his advanced intellectual knowledge and created a dozen improvised pistols which he handed to his gang personnels.

And by the time he was 8 this originally small sized gang gained a fearsome reputation for absorbing other gangs by decimating those that threaten them through assination.

It wasn't even a fair fight since these guys were trying to fight a gang with guns with crude weapons. Due to the enmity towards the Wu clan, Tony grewed to become coldblooded towards his enemies.
