Looking upwards to Miss Wong who was caring for him, Hui Lik saw her angelic face with glossy teardrops on her eyelashes.
Hui Like observes her soft eyes as she looks caringly after his bruised arm.
"Miss Wong," Hui Lik mutters her name softly under his breath.
Never has he seen a woman look at him revealing such soft teary eyes as she cares after him.
Hearing her name called she looks instinctively at Hui Lik.
And their eyes meet again and the world seems to turn silent, leaving only the two of them feeling the electric connections of each other.
Hui Lik reached into his pocket and took out a tissue to wipe away the tear drops that stayed on her eyes.
"I'm fine, thank you Mr. Lik," Miss Hong grabbed Hui Lik's hand.
The gangsters who came in to cause trouble were one by one defeated by Tony and Ip Man.
They were all lying on the floor groaning in pain, the leader called out to his men, "Let's go, men!"
His lackeys were holding onto their chest as they wobbled away in fear seeing Tony and Ip Man at the gate.
"Senior Lik, we checked there was no damage to the rooms," a man called out from the balcony to Hui Lik.
"Look closely, make sure there's no fire," Hui Lik called back to his junior.
Walking down the concrete stairs Hui Lik came to Ip Man and Tony reporting, "Master, the gangsters didn't leave any fire."
"Principal," Miss Wong asked, "are you okay?"
She was in concern for the principal who looked in daze at the school building. His face seems to be badly beaten by the gangsters.
"I'm fine," he answered, shaking from his hazy dumbfoundment. "But I underestimated those thugs."
"Lucky you and your men were here Master Ip," one of the parents said to Ip Man.
"It was nothing," Ip Man smiled and replied.
"Thank you so much, Master Ip."
Looking into the distance Ip Man saw Cheung who was standing there in watch as the neighboring parents thanked Ip Man.
Cheung who happened to be passing was the one who helped rescue the headmaster.
Similar to Ip Man, Cheung's a martial artist of the Wing Chun style. Secretly envies Ip Man and seeks to surpass him.
Cheung picks up the cash that his client threw on the ground and was about to resume his work when he heard Ip Man calling out to him
"Mr. Cheung," Ip Man calls out walking towards him with a welcoming smile, "thank goodness you were there."
"I was just passing by," he replies cordially with a hint of coldness, "I've finally seen your Wing Chun. It's as good as they say."
Cheung was wearing a white long sleeved shirt that is dirty from use and a sleeveless vest.
His hair is combed back and he seems more tan in skin color.
Not only does Cheung practice a different style of Wing Chun, their personality is also much different.
"People are too nice," Ip Man answers back.
"If all's well, I'll get back to work," saying in coldness as he picks up his rickshaw.
"Bye," Ip Man calls Cheung, who was going far.
The headmaster who was amongst the crowd of gossiping neighbors turns his head to say, "Miss Wong I'll be alright, it's getting late you should head home."
"Miss Wong, let Hui Lik walk you home," Tony recommends pushing his junior Hui Lik to the front.
As Hui Lik sees that Miss Wong was in contemplation he couldn't help feeling his heart rushing with anticipation.
She was in thought for a second then replied, "Then I have to thank you Mr. Lik."
Miss Wong saids to Hui Lik who was in front of her while bowing her head slightly in polite gratitude.
Hui Lik looks to Tony with great indebtedness as he tries to hide away the overflowing happiness inside.
If it wasn't for the people here Hui Lik would've definitely gotten on the ground and started worshiping Tony in happiness.
"Opportunity comes when you least expect it, Junior Lik," says Tony with a playful smile patting Hui Lik on the back.
As Miss Hong was walking side by side with Hui Lik on this silent night she couldn't help feeling her thumping anxiousness every single time she took a glance of the man beside her.
During the small talk she's filled with shyness thinking about how he stands bravely in front of her to protect her.
"We're here," she mentions softly arriving at the doorsteps to an apartment building.
"You live alone?" Hui Lik asks, taking a look upward at the darkly lit grey building.
"Yes," she answers in a polite, quiet manner.
She stands at the bottom of the doorsteps, looking expectantly at Hui Lik waiting for him to say something.
For a long silence Hui Lik finally mustered a sound from his throat breaking apart the awkward tension.
"I...I guess I'll see you tomorrow Miss Wong," Hui Lik saids to her with a smile.
"Thank you for taking me home," Miss Hong says back politely, "Then I'll see you tomorrow. Goodbye."
Hui Lik's eyes were filled with deep longing as he wanted to say so much more to that fleeing figure walking up the steps.
'The time was so quick,' Hui Lik thinks to himself with a sigh.
As Miss Wong was putting in the keys to open her apartment door she paused to touch her hot cheeks.
The yellow electric light from the ceiling reveals the pink blushing on her face.
The next morning Tony saw Hui Lik sitting in solemn silence in guard near the school in his grey thin grey sweater coat.
His eyes were looking into the distance seemingly deep in thought without awareness of Tony walking close by, as he drank an orange soda from the straw.
"Senior Hui!" the two juniors called out with a bow seeing Tony walk close by to them.
Smiling, Tony waves his hands at them in greeting.
Then walking close he slaps his hand on Hui Lik's shoulder, waking him up from his contemplation.
Looking up unexpectedly he sees Tony smiling at him, Hui Lik quickly stands up and shouts in greeting, "Senior Liang!"
