Chapter 14: Progress (2)

Kira sat on his knees in a medium-sized room with the normal Japanese dojo layout in silence. His eyes were shut tightly and his eyebrows were knitted together as he meditated in silence. Right in front of him was a large scroll laying on the ground with its contents open for everyone to see. He was dressed in a normal red martial arts attire with a red belt.

"Serpent art: Consecutive strikes" He muttered softly as he retracted his hands and his fingers took a shape similar to a serpent' s head.

With complete focus and calmness, he struck forward repeatedly, with the empty air being the target. Each time his hands struck forward, a snake hiss sound would resonate from his fist. In just two seconds he struck out about seven times but the frown on his face showed he was not satisfied. His eyes were still shut tight and beads of sweat rolled forehead, his blood-red hair was tied back into a ponytail and it swung lightly each time he moved.

He repeated this technique for over an hour but he still didn't achieve the desired results. His eyes yanked open abruptly and he hissed like a serpent. He retracted both hands and with a resounding roar, he hands tangled with each other as it struck forward. Anyone from a distance would see an illusion that made it look like two snakes approaching its prey while tangling around each other while striking forward. The sounds of the hissing snakes resonating from his flexible hands filled the room and the guards positioned at the door felt slightly uncomfortable by this.

In the martial arts world, major martial art techniques are rated from one to five stars, with five stars being the strongest. Kira came from a long line of martial arts practitioners, whose parents were normal humans with no special abilities. At that time his ancestors owned a medium size dojo in the liberation union which practiced the top tier two-star serpent martial arts. This martial arts was considered one of the strongest two-star martial art fighting techniques and could even be compared to low tier three-star martial art fighting techniques.

The serpent fighting focused on swift venomous strikes and an agile body. People who practiced this technique prioritized speed and agility over strength! With their venoms strikes they were able to poison the strongest foes and then focus on evasion while they wait for the poison to end the lives of their foes for them. They specialized in prolonged battles and often end up dragging on a battle for hours!

Kira's father was the first in their family line to awaken a superpower. Because of this, the man abandoned the family martial art fighting style and let the dojo he inherited rot and fade away. He focused on cultivating his super ability and later made it to the S ratings in his mid-twenties and became a member of the four wings of the Liberation union.

His old man was filled with joy when Kira inherited his blood flames ability and he was determined to lead Kira through the same path which he walked, but to his greatest surprise, Kira wanted something else. Kira was always interested in his family's martial art, unfortunately, his father was the only one from his family who survived the blood war. Even though his father was not advanced in the family martial arts, he still had some knowledge about the family fighting technique and helped Kira lay solid martial arts foundations.

He prepared scrolls containing all the information on the family fighting techniques he could gather. Even though he wasn't pleased with Kira's choice, all he could do was support him in any way he could and also encourage him to take some time for the development of his superpower as well.

"Focus on one? No way… I'll definitely find a way to combine my martial art and my superpowers… I will create the ultimate techniques and deadliest skills" Kira repeated the words he always said to his dad to cheer him up.

The blood flame is considered as one of the deadliest superpowers ever controlled by man. The blood-red flames could easily consume other forms of fire or defenses. His old man built a tyrannical image with this ability and drowned many foes of the liberation union with his blood flames and made a name for himself.

Fiery demon….

Kira's eyes were focused on his right palm as it took the shape of a snakes head. His eyes narrowed and his eyebrows knitted together as he applied his venomous strike technique to his palm and numerous veins began popping up, after which his fingernails turned pitch black indicating his strikes will definitely poison his foes as long as it connects.

He was satisfied with this, his proficiency in using the venomous palm strike has increased greatly, after his battle with the assassin.

As much as his blood flame ability possessed enough power to make him tyrannic, just like his old man. But it also possessed a major drawback which even the fiery demon, his old man, could not escape. The blood flame utilizes the user's blood in exchange for blood-red flames. This was why he injured his lips on purpose, just to utilize his ability back then when they fought against the assassin.

To help deal with this drawback, he decided to find a war through which he can fight and not completely rely on the blood flames, and this is where his martial art ability came in. He was determined to make his first combat technique one that will combine both his amazing martial art skills with his tyrannical flames! With this, he was confident he would be able to surpass his father and defeat the God sect!

"I will definitely catch up to you… Zero!" Kira said with a lot of fight spirit burning brightly in his eyes!
