The combat class was held in the first year training grounds located far east at the outer campus, over twenty kilometers away from the first-year classes. The combat class was made to help students sharpen their skills, experience battles, and understand the faults in their fighting styles and combat techniques. It was also an opportunity for those at the lower classes to display their skills and strength and maybe if they get lucky, they will be admitted into the elite class.
The building used for the combat class was surprisingly large and had a medieval kind of look. It was exactly like the ancient colosseum built by the Romans, a place of battle and entertainment. Within the Colosseum was an area reserved for the guest of honor, like the top ten students of the outer campus, the homeroom teacher of the elite class, and some top officials of the school. The rules of the event were simple, those who wished to battle and show off their skills are allowed to enter the arena and wait for a challenger to step up and accept his or her challenge.
Even before the top three students of the outer academy appeared, the colosseum was already crowed with freshers discussing heatedly amongst themselves. Their performance in this class was extremely important and no one dared to look down on the opportunity presented before them. if they are able to impress the guests of honor, not only would they be moved up to the elite class but they can also be recruited by one of the three big factions of the outer campus, thereby granting them access to the piles of cultivation materials hoarded by these factions.
Their cultivation speed will definitely rise by leaps and bounds with the support of any of these three factions. Maybe then they can dream of leaving the outer campus and enter the inner campus in the next five years.
Even though only the wealthy can afford to attend the institution, there was a difference in classes. The members of the elite class stuck together, not bothering to spare the members of the normal classes a glance. In their mind, they assumed these people are lesser beings since they possess lesser potential.
Thud!
Thud!
Thud!
At that very moment, Zero and the other three appeared. They gazed at the two different groups seated in the arena and snorted disdainfully. The side with the larger number was obviously that of the normal students and the smaller one was that of the elite class. In their opinion, none of these two are worth their attention. The group glanced at those at the special guest area, before throwing them a vicious smile and moving to an empty area to seat. They had no interest in joining any of the two groups
"Welcome, all of you… As you all know I am Miss Lane…. Homeroom guardian of the elite class… This exercise is not a competition, its just a means of acquiring some combat experience… So I expect no one to put their lives on the line… and for those scared of getting hurt, I assure you, measures have been placed to make sure no life-threatening blows will get to you… Elite class, do go easy on them" Miss Lane said the last part with a wink causing members of the elite class to laugh their hearts out and the normal class member to fume with rage.
Zero and the other three ignored Miss Lane's words and focused on the top ten students of the outer campus, taking note of their appearance and temperament. They also spotted an elderly man with gray hair, dressed in an ash tuxedo fuming with anger. No one needed to tell them this was the homeroom guardian of the normal class. Zero guessed the man was lower rated as a guardian and that's why he didn't dare talk back at Miss Lane.
As soon as Miss Lane was done with her speech, a small round ball of darkness flew into the fighting grounds, landing softly. When the darkness vanished a chubby kid with large round cheeks and a short black spiky hair with a round funny shape. His entire attire was black and his eyes were always shut accompanied with a friendly smile which made everyone swallow a huge lump of saliva.
"Who's up for a battle?" The chubby kid spoke calmly.
While the members of the normal class were thrilled by the chance of beating up this fat kid from the elite class. No matter how they thought about it, someone with his stature will definitely be lacking in physical capabilities. In their opinion top-grade potential did not mean they are strong right from the very beginning, it only means they will definitely reach a high level in the future. While this theory was correct, it was also wrong. Someone with great potential meant that they will definitely reach a profound realm in the future but also meant they will grow faster than their peers with lesser potential. That's what these people failed to put into consideration.
"I'll take you one…" A cold detached voice echoed from the side of the normal class. Under everyone's gaze, a youth with bright green hair and multi-colored attire walked out jumped down while playing with a card in his hand.
"Tristen is out for blood!"
"That fat joke of the elite class is bound to lose!"
"Hehehe… Tristen you sly bastard, stealing the spotlight from us…"
While listening to the various comments of the members of the normal class, the members of the elite class could only shake their heads and sigh ruefully.
