Chapter 50: Alfred Ashford

Even though no one else noticed Alfred's gaze, Zero felt it and all the emotion behind it. His unnatural senses made it almost impossible for someone to catch him off guard and allowed him to feel the emotions of others around him too, making it possible for him to tell when someone bore evil intentions against any of them. From Alfred all, he could feel like a sense of duty and so much love that even he felt uncomfortable. If not for the fact Zero was done going through his file, he would have mistaken the man for a gay.

Alfred Ashford was picked up by the four S rated guardian of all time, when he was still little and they were still young. Anyone could say, he was their first successor since they treated him like a son and took care of all his needs. He was one of the unlucky many to lose their parents during the bloody war and since his parents were commoners with nothing special, there was really no much record on them. Either way, the four guardians trained Alfred and thought him how to harness the true potentials of his special ability.

Alfred was no normal human and with his current strength, he could easily take the position of an S rated guardian with all the benefits that come along with it, but he chose to remain loyal to his masters and even after death, he chose to serve them by keeping their successors safe.

Apparently, Alfred has so many notable deeds that the country is well aware of his strength and on numerous occasions after the death of the S rated guardians, they threw countless of enticing offers to have this man leave the Oscuro group and work for the government as an S rated guardian but Alfred declined each and every one of them.

Such loyalty stunned the other three when they went through his report, forcing them to take a second glance at Alfred before they continued reading. The more they read about the various offers the government had given to Alfred just to pull him away from them, the more these four grew to hate this country.

"They wish to take everything away from us! Even the only person that keeps us safe from the god sect twin masters until we are ready… I will kill them all" Dan chuckled as usual but his eyes bore even stronger murderous intentions than before.

"It seems the country itself is more of a liability than an asset… when the time comes, I wish to seize this country for the Oscuro group… I hope there are no objections" Although Zero was as calm as usual, the disdain and spite in his voice showed he was dead serious about everything he just said.

The others could only nod in response and call it a day.

Somewhere underground, in the academies awakening facility Shi Jia was locked in a room with four empty gas tanks lying on the ground while he greedily inhaled all the pink gas in the fifth tank. Miss Lane, some of the academies top staff and some government representatives watched in horror as the fifth gas tank was completely consumed and the kid quickly switched to the sixth.

Even those from the elite class couldn't do this much, while some only inhaled little before their body rejected it, those with exceptional talent took half and then there was Damian, Zhoa Li, Akila, Kira, and Dan consumed more than half of content in the gas tank and they are considered S rated individuals but here Shi Jia consumed five gas tanks and he is still going at it. These people didn't know if they should be terrified or excited.

On one hand, it meant their suspicion was right, Shi Jia will definitely surpass the human realm and step into the disaster realm if given enough time to grow but on the other hand, if someone with so much talent should have a fall out with the country and join the sovereign federation, it could spell doom for the entire liberation union.

"We have to keep him close… we need to give him anything he wants…Just as long as he is on our side…" one of the government officials said.

"To think the four prodigies of the Oscuro group had a fall out with him… They just made the biggest mistakes of their lives! This is not an enemy they can stand against" Miss Lane sighed

"In the end, those four are still assets of the nation, the institution must find a way to reconcile their relationship or at least keep it at neutral… if both sides should clash, the four heirs of the Oscuro group will most likely be wiped out and the Nation is not in a position where it can let go of four potential S-rated guardians" The government official replied.

"And what if we cant reconcile them… what if both sides are hell-bent on eliminating each other? Whose side will the government take? Losing four potential S-rated guardians and the S-rated guardian level bodyguard Alfred, making it five S rated individuals or One individual with the potential to reach the disaster realm" Miss Lane asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Have you lost it, Miss Lane? The disaster realm individual is more important than even ten S rated guardians… The government will protect Shi Jia's interest at all cost but let's just hope it doesn't come to that…" The government official said.

"Then the government will lose another Disaster realm individual for its stupidity" Miss Lane said, making the government official shoot her a confused glance.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Damian, Zhoa Li, Akila, Kira, and Dan consumed only half of their gas tanks before their body reached its limits… But Zero… Zero consumed a gas tank entirely and stopped… Not because his body reached its limit but because he wasn't offered another… we were too stunned since it's the first time such a thing is happening and we didn't react quickly so we couldn't tell how many gas tanks he could have consumed." Miss Lane explained, leaving the government officials stunned.
