Unknown to the two people watching them through the CCTV, Zero didn't achieve that power through normal means. In fact, it's literarily impossible for a person to push his body and bring out a hundred percent of his physical capabilities and even go beyond that. The cost of such a reckless act was so great that Zero nearly lost his life this time. If it weren't for the fact that numerous B rated healers shared their life force with him, he would have been dead already.
...........................….
Once again Zero found himself in the darkness with the same one-eyed white owl-like bird standing and watching him from afar. He knew the dusk demon had aided him well in the fight against Shi Jia and he was grateful to the magic beast. But that didn't explain what exactly he was doing here again. Usually, whenever he entered this dark space in his mind, the dusk demon was never around unless he thought of the beast or called out to it.
"You are very observant… capable of noticing even the slightest details… You are a worthy host, Zero" the dusk demon easily read his thoughts and replied accordingly.
"Hehehe! Then I hope you don't mind answering the questions I was going to ask" Zero wasn't surprised anymore by the dusk demon's ability to read his mind. His thoughts have always been guided and never wandered off, so he wasn't worried about the dusk demon finding out something it shouldn't know.
"I believe you wish to know how this change happened… although it looks unimportant, yet it's a very significant change… In the past, I was locked away in the darkest part of your mind, only able to speak to you with my psychic abilities and appear only when you wished to see me… But now those shackles are gone… after we bonded and became one in order to defeat a common foe, your body doesn't view me as an intruder, since I carry residues of your life force…. But of course, I don't have enough to control this body… and I never will" The dusk demon sounded a bit sad while saying the final part but Zero didn't buy it.
"This means that my body only obeys the person with greatest life force available and for you to take control it means I have to die… when my life force is snuffed out… Yours will eventually be considered greater and you can have the body… So why haven't you tried to kill me?" Zero asked.
"Way too observant for your own good… But you are obviously not as intelligent as I thought…. For the little sparks of life force which I carry now to surpass your own, it means you have to die… Death means your body starts to function… I can only take control of a living body not the dead… so it won't work… I'm stuck here like this." The dusk demon complained, leading Zero to think more about the issue.
"With all that psychic power you boast of, you can't even take control of a child's body? Lame!" Zero sighed. Even though he whispered those words, it was still loud enough for the dusk demon to hear.
"This wasn't my choice… This isn't possession either…. Upon defeat, you created a turtle shell barrier around you… and for some reason, your power seemed to be blocking my psychic powers… To get to you I needed to break through the barrier but I lacked the physical capabilities to overwhelm your spirit energy constructs… In the end, your friend Dan appeared and somehow my psychic abilities couldn't work on him too… I was slain shortly after and in a bid to survive, I transferred my consciousness into your mind… that was the least I could do… So yes, I am dead but still alive in you… without my body, my power is not strong enough to forcefully take charge of this body and finally. I cant take control of a child's body? Don't make me laugh Zero, you are not even human!" The dusk demon sneered before vanishing into the darkness.
The last part of his words stung Zero like a bee and the fact the dusk demon was not willing to answer his calls also made it impossible for him to get the answers he desired.
..............................
Zero's eyes slowly yanked open and at this moment he felt completely powerless. His head ached badly and his joints made creaking sounds each time he tried to move. But even then he couldn't care less about his body's condition or where he was at the moment. Only his last discussion with the dusk demon ran through his mind.
From that discussion, he realized two things. The dusk demon wasn't emotionless just as he thought. The fact Zero's words got to him showed it had feelings as well. Also, the dusk demon just confirmed that his spirit energy can block out psychic abilities!
"What did it mean by I am not human?" Zero stared at the white ceiling absentmindedly.
"Well, well… I didn't know I beat you that bad… Don't worry next time, I will hold back a bit!" A voice reached Zero's ears and he could swear on his life only one person had such a voice.
"Shi Jia!" Zero slowly sat on his bed, gazing at the kid with murderous eyes.
"Don't you dare think because you won the last fight meant you are stronger boy! You just got lucky… that's all!" Shi Jia sneered.
