A Hunter Chronicle – 01

"Stop stealing my collection, she said."

"Stop trying to relive the past, she said."

"Stop bothering me with my work, she said."

"I hate you Nee-chan," shouted a blond-haired boy in oversize clothing.

He hammered his fist in the air with frustration while a small fox was struggling stay on the top of his head.

"You idiot! Why did you prank her? And why am I being punished as well?"

The fox growled angrily. Its small paws couldn't hold onto his friend's head, thus it continued to slide down from the backside.

"Until you grow up and act your age, you will be in this body."

Lectured a very beautiful woman with buxom figure.

Her immersed divine spiritual aura was suffocating.

Fortunately, since the Sage was not very sensitive to spiritual release, it wasn't that much of a problem.

"Ah shut it, furball! We share the same body so if she cursed me, you get cursed as well. Now look at me, I'm freaking twelve again! I hate being this age!"

Naruto snapped back, pulling up his baggy pant so it doesn't drop completely to the floor.

"And did I mention she is freaking dumped us here, what where the hell is here?"

Naruto added as Kurama puffed out a bit of fire.

"Yes, like dozens of times in the last few minutes."

Kurama snorted.

"As for where he is, it's your fault! Damn it! You said you were bored and wanted a new place to go to. What was it exactly? A place with monstrous animals, rare species, buried riches, hidden bounties, uncharted lands, awesome powers…"

Kurama deadpanned while rolling its eyes.

"Monstrous animals…"

Naruto saw some exotic animals passing by.

They were very docile, walking along side with several adults, who seemed to be their owner.

"Bullshit! What part of that is monstrous?"

Naruto pointed at the creature he'd never seen before.

"Where are the buried riches? Hidden treasures? Unknown places? Awesome powers?"

Naruto added with frustration.

"Baka! We have only been here for an hour! We haven't seen anything yet."

Kurama retorted, swinging its body back and forth behind the blond's head like a pendulum via its paws.

The fox's usual spot was on the Sage's shoulder, but since the Sage in question had reverted back into a kid, his shoulder was no longer broad enough to be used as a comfortable seat even with its miniature size.

"I don't sense any Chakra in the air either, nor Reiryoku (spiritual energy)."

Naruto pointed out.

The fox agreed with the blond as it'd also noticed the oddity a while ago but didn't say anything then.

"Shinigami-sama told us that the inhabitants of this realm use Nen instead of Chakra, and they called themselves Hunter instead of Shinobi."

Kurama reminded as Naruto rubbed the back of his head. He was frustrated for the last hour, so he'd completely forgotten about that piece of critical information.

"There are people here that rivaled even the Kage in term of power, like the one with a wish granting power."

Naruto recited from memory, rubbing his chin a bit as his oversize cloth dangling around his waist.

"Now that is some awesome power, to grant any wish! I wish for never ending bowl of –

"Right… First thing first, you need to change your attire, people are looking at us."

Kurama advised, pointing his nine chibi tails at various people in sight.

They had a curious look on as they made no effort of concealing their staring.

"I think they're more interested in you."

Naruto commented when he returned the gaze at the spectators.

"I don't swing that way, thank you very much."

Kurama replied sarcastically before shouting at the bystanders in annoyance.

"WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT!? NEVER SEEN A TALKING FOX BEFORE?"

"Actually, no, I've never seen an animal that talk."

A tall, slender frame man answered, checking out the fox and the blond-haired boy while the people dispersed elsewhere.

"But the world is a very big place. Even now, the majority of it is still unexplored, so there are things that will surprise me like you."

Naruto blinked before rubbing the back of his neck in irritation.

The spoken person was so tall, and he needed to tilt his head back to see the man's face.

After a few more torturous seconds, Naruto decided he had enough.

"Wait here."

Naruto ordered before running off to the side of the street and stood up on a wooden bench at its highest point. He waved the man to come over.

The man chuckled and complied with the boy's request.

"This is much better. The name's Naruto Uzumaki, who are you?"

Naruto asked, now matching the man eyes' level thanked to the extra height.
