The story will begin thousands of years before the start of the MCU timeline. And the story will not only adhere to the MCU but a mixture of myth, comics, movies and my own bit of twist as the story goes on.

Power levels are a crude way to describe the capabilities and strength of a person or being. The higher the power level does not always mean that a person is guaranteed a win. 


For example, a person of 400 power level with better skills and strategy would be able to win against another person of say 500-600 power levels who possess a lower mastery of their skills. 


But with no skills or external help, the one with the higher power level will at least have a 90% chance of winning. 


This is the reason why MC, when he fought with Brunhild could make her exert a huge portion of her strength and possess a bit of threat to Brunhild when MC uses a sword energy blade. As this type of skill is not something an Asgardian normally ever see in their life. So, Brunhild could not properly defend against something she has no awareness of what kind of damage it would do or how this skill works.
