The End of the "Cold War" 1

The night was so tranquil but Nanny Lin felt there was something sad in the atmosphere. Especially seeing her young master at the dinner table alone...again. She was surprised that the young master asked when will Wu Hexie come home. It was the first time he inquired the Third Young Lady's whereabouts.

"Young Master, the Third Young Lady won't be able to eat dinner again today...she said she's busy at the Wu Laboratories," Nanny Lin sighed.

"It's okay. I will wait for her." Kazuki nodded and ate the dinner prepared for him.

Nanny Lin pitied her new young master. In her mind, Choi Kazuki looked like a responsible husband waiting for his dutiful wife. She was really worried for the young couple.

The dinner table looked so much bigger with only him eating. He only noticed it now that he was waiting for someone.

Choi Kazuki didn't really hated how Wu Hexie was giving him some distance. At least that girl didn't try to pester him or seduce him just like the other girls he was ever with.

But he also didn't like how she was avoiding him like plague. It has been a month since she started blatantly ignoring him. He would try to have a decent conversation with her but she would just ignore him. And it was annoying the hell out of him. It was the first time someone did that as he would be the person ignoring people. Not the other way around.

And then his mother caught word of what was happening, and she did not liked it. Kotone berated his son to atleast befriend his own wife.

It was getting on his nerves. So he waited at the dinner table 'til Wu Hexie arrived from gods know where. This cold war needs to stop if they wanted to live together in "harmony".

He smirked. Her name was pretty ironic. She was named after the Goddess of Wisdom and War. Then her second name meant Harmony. And she was confusing just like her name. A living contradiction.

It was past ten o'clock when Wu Hexie arrived. Just like any other day the past month. Kazuki didn't bother standing up. He knew what would happen next. She would go to her room but not for long as she would go to her next favorite spot in the house, the kitchen.

And as expected, she really did came to the kitchen. Wu Hexie opened the fridge to get some boxed milk.

"Hey, Wu Hexie..." He called but the girl didn't even looked back. Then she closed the fridge and continued walking just like he doesn't even exist. He sucked in air and grabbed her free hand to spin her around.

"Wu Hexie, my mother has requested for our presence this long weekend at the Choi Villa," Kazuki said once he made her face him.

Surprise was evident on her face.

"Huh? O-Oh Boss! You scared me! Good evening by the way. Yes?" She took out something from her ear. Was that a hearing aid?

"I said, mother has requested for our presence this long weekend. Don't make me repeat things, Wu Hexie."

"O-Okay, I'll go..." She easily agreed.

"And stop avoiding me and blatantly ignoring me when I'm talking to you. It's annoying," Kazuki's cold eyes bored into her panicked ones. She's really different when she's at home.

"W-What? I'm not avoiding you, Boss!" She squeaked and was wide eyed. She took out both earpieces from her ears.

"Oh my gosh! You were talking to me the whole time?!" She gasped and bowed down to her knees.

"Oh my gosh Boss! I'm so sorry for disrespecting you. And for ignoring you when you were talking to me, I was listening to music with these wireless earphones with maximum volume. Please spare my family!" She pleaded.

"Stand up, Wu. Also stop doing that, I'm not Kame."

Choi Kazuki didn't know if he should laugh or get angry at this girl. She easily bows down whenever she apologizes and always ask to 'spare her family'. It was very inappropriate as she was the Third Young Lady of the Wu Corporation. He scrutinized the device.

Wu Hexie saw his curious gaze at the earpieces. An idea popped up in her mind. But she didn't even think twice if it was a good idea.

"Oh Boss! These are prototype bluetooth earphones from the Wu Laboratories. My mother's youngest brother is a Computer Engineer that specializes in Software Development and Electronics. I kind of challenged him to make a wireless earphones, and he actually invented one, wanna try it?" She effortlessly avoided a dangerous route.

The past months, she have gotten close with her Uncles who were surprisingly doting on her especially her mom's youngest brother, Li Huiliang, who worked at the Wu Laboratories. The Wu family business was slowly venturing to the sciences hence the Wu and Choi marriage alliance made sense since the Choi Empire has a branch of business on Electronics and Technologies. Athena Hexie Wu was heavily involved in drafting project proposals even before the marriage.

It was about time to finally show the Choi Empire their "revolutionary" inventions.

Wu Hexie respectfully handed the two cleaned earphones like she was handing the emperor a gift. Another brilliant idea popped up in her mind. That's if the heir of the Choi Empire would accept her offer and not kill her right there and then.

But then doubts entered her thoughts.

'Is it too early to propose her ideas to him? Would he accept her business proposal?'

Hexie was inwardly worried.

Her musings were interrupted when Kazuki put on both of the bluetooth earphones and music filled his ears.

It was their song. She was listening to their song?

So she really was a fan. And it was so loud, no wonder Wu Hexie couldn't hear him.

"They're amazing right?" Wu Hexie eagerly asked. Her eyes was shining with a suspicious glint.

"Yes. And what's with that suspicious look?" He asked stoically.

Hexie fidgeted on her spot.

'Is it really time to give him the copy of proposals they drafted? What if he reject the offer?!'

"Well?" Kazuki's voice was laced with impatience. Hexie evened out her breathing before answering.

"Boss, come with me to my room! I have to show you something... please don't reject the offer so hastily..." Hexie pulled him upstairs.
