Sweet baby

Part One - Sweet baby. ( Third person narrative )

At Saint Mc. Carth's hospital sat a middle-aged white man, stressed out, pulling the delicate fibers of his chocolate brown, curly hair. An African American nurse, with black and blue highlighted weave, walked into the dead waiting room - clipboard in hand - she called out the man in grey sweatpants and a white greasy tank top," Mr. Conner?" The man, further known as Jimmy, Looking up the nurse wearing light purple scrubs.

" Yes?" Jimmy got up and looked at the nurse eagerly," Is she ok?" The nurse nodded and looked down - back to her clipboard - " Yes sir, she is just fine. " Relieved, the man sighed before freezing asking softly," The baby?" The smiled softly before replying," She's fine too, you can go see them now." Without saying anything, Jimmy followed the nurse to a delivery room. There on the bed was a half-naked red-haired woman. By the side of the bed, sat a carrier with a newborn in it.

Going alongside the bed, Jimmy Conner ran his hand through his wife's silky cherry hair, then turned and watched the little baby sleeping peacefully. The nurse calmly picked up the angel beside the bed and gently gave the baby to the awaiting father. Jimmy slowly took the newborn into his arms," Did Jesimay choose a name for her yet?" The nurse thought for a moment before shaking her head no.

Jimmy hummed softly, swaying to appease his new daughter, as she began to make violent high pitched noises. He said softly to the nurse, announcing," Her name will be Akia Azariyah Conner." The nurse smiles before looking sadly at the asleep redhead," She's asleep now. We were afraid we'd have to perform a cesarean section when we saw her oxygen was dropping but both pulled through at the last second."

Jimmy felt a sigh of relief come off his lips. He silently prayed a quick thank you to God before nodding at the nurse to leave. Quietly obeying the unspoken demand, the nurse smiled softly again before exiting the, now silent, room.

The new father found himself speaking sweetly to the tiny baby whose hand curled around his finger," Hey baby girl, it's me, daddy." Little eyes connected with his green ones," Gah." Jimmy smiled. Beautiful, unique, he thought.

The baby girl's eyes were different from each other - one shining bright green while the other golden brown; she truly had both her parents eyes. You could faintly see thin red hair coming from the newborn's delicate, fragile scalp as her small hand left her father's finger - grabbing for the side of Jimmy's prickly face.

A deep chuckle could be heard throughout the room as Jimmy mumbled softly to his daughter," You'll be daddy's sweet little angel, always. "
