Vows Again

Church bells rang in the distance, signaling a marriage was about to commence but this wasn't an ordinary wedding. No, this was a retake amongst vow said six years ago. Since February began, Jimmy had asked his wife for her hand again.

It'd be the perfect time to renew their vows on February 15 - the actual moment two became one.

Flashback.

In the alter, Jimmy stood dressed in - what town folks called - fancy attire. The suit he was wearing as panther black and moonshine white but it was dull compared to the scenery around him. All four walls were decorated with blood-red ribbon and joined at the heart by white flowers that glittered in the light.

The black backdrop underneath made the presentation of flowers pop out more as well as a gigantic stained-glass picture of the holy spirit hanging above the priest.

Finally, the door opens and Diamond - Jimmy's niece - comes into view. Her livid eyes complemented her elegant light grey sun-dress that barely went over her smooth chocolate thighs. She crunched the small rose pedals as her hands drew more and more from the seemingly empty basket.

Next came the bride to be in her silky, flood touching wedding dress. A tear quietly fell down Jesimay's face; her late father couldn't see this moment. Besides her older half brother, Oni was more than obliged to do the honors. Both walked down the aisle, connected by an arm Oni held out; the crowd kept silent, was staring at the woman in awe.

No one could see the wet tears sliding down her face - the veil was covering her face. Once in front of Jimmy, the boys exchange the arms. Standing a foot apart from her, Jimmy notices as another tear falls down her face. ' Are you ok? ' He lipped to his bride as the preacher began. Jesimay nodded, smiling up at him. The veil was lifted up from her face after each promised ' I do. ' " By the power that the Lord has given me, I pronounce you husband and wife. "

Jimmy pulled his new wife to him and leaned in, giving her a passionate kiss. The crowd roared - excited for the couple - except for two people in the back of the chapel, Mildred and Oni.

" I thought you said fake it mother?" Oni whispered to Mildred - hoping no one heard him," Yes but they won't notice but two people clapping." Right as the words left Mildred's mouth, her daughter locked eyes with her. She gave off a fake smile and nodded - what her daughter doesn't know, won't hurt her.

" What's that son of a bitch's name again?" Oni shrugged," Hell if I know ma." Mildred gave an almost snarl towards the couple as Jimmy swept his lover into his arms, bridal style. " Pathetic god worshipers and their bible." Mildred muttered darkly as her son let out a chuckle.

Standing and chatting after the wedding, there was an important question to be answered from the young girl," Mommy, why is me different?" Diamond asked her mother - Angelina. The white mother - with baby blue eyes and gold hair - squatted down to the four year's level before saying," What do you mean lovebug?"

" Me hear them talking about me, saying me different." Puzzled Angelina answered," You are no different than me or your father." The child let out a sob as she put her arm up to her mother's." Me black, you white. " Angelina wrapped her arms quickly around the crying child," No sweetheart, that does not mean you are different. "

As she explained to her adoptive daughter why they have different skin tones, behind them was Oni - staring smugly at the child. What a brat she wasn't supposed to tell, Oni thought annoyed. He chugged down his bottle of champagne, threw it into the nearby stream once it was empty and casually walked away.

End of Flashback.

When Jesimay walked down the aisle six years later, she no longer had on a princess dress on., instead had on a beautiful white sundress that flowed to her knees. The dress itself was covered in majestic roses that floated endlessly at the bottom. However, Jimmy still worse the black attire that currently stood out against his pale and exhausted body. Jesimay grabbed his boney hands as they said their vows, then sealing it with a gentle kiss.

" I love you, baby." Jimmy whispered into his wife's ear. Jesimay hummed softly before answering," I love you too, Jimmy Rossmain Conner. " Escaping Jimmy's fate was utterly futile but that wouldn't bring the stubborn woman down. She still had years with him left and she was going to spend it answering his every beck and call.
