Walk away

The clock was ticking in the dimly lit room where a lone figure sat bending over a medium sized table. The stooped shoulders of the figure hinted at the immense fatigue it was feeling.

Wiping away the sweat which dotted at her forehead she continued to scribble away on the sheet of paper she had found in one of her husband's drawers.

The lone figure bit back a frustrated scream and prayed for the god of patience to be with her at this crucial hour- like it had always been.

The clock beside the bed table read 2:00 in the morning. It's neon shining numbers seemed to be frowning at her in disapproval but given the situation now, she had to go through with her decision, she didn't care much about it. She had to take off before he decided to show up- either drunk out of his stupid mind or sober enough to decode her movements.

A small luggage sat waiting for her at the foot of their shared bed asking her quietly to hurry up. Finally finishing up the letter she gave it an once over.

It seemed good enough for a kind of goodbye letter and given the way he had treated her for past half a year he might not even bother to read it and even if he read it, he wouldn't be bothered by it. After all she had been an inconvenience in his life since they had been married. Correction- they had been forced to marry each other by their parents but being the good girl she was, she had given it all to their relationship but he didn't seem to invest any interest in it.

One fated night two months back they had slept together in a drunken stupor and that was all it took for her to get knocked up. She was shocked by the revelation which her closest friend and Gynaecologist Kara made to her the previous evening.

She had been not prepared for this step in life considering the fact that her husband- so called husband- didn't even look at her face or even acknowledge her existence in the big house they shared together. She had had a mini- mental breakdown infront of Kara and finally decided to run away from everything and begone from his life for good.

Kara had tried to talk sense into her but after seeing how unhappy she was in her marriage and how she didn't want her child to be born in that kind of atmosphere she decided to get on board with her plan.

She placed the letter on the fridge door where she usually left notes for him everyday hoping he would read it. That was the only place where she hoped he would notice it. Pulling her small luggage behind her she walked out of the door not looking back again.
