Humanity always seeked entertainement, and in this era the widely known game Legend Domain satisfied this need. With its virtual reality and body synchronisation technologies anybody could live another life in a fantasy world without any restrictions whatsoever. The best and most famous player in this game was surprisingly a Healer named Obsession in game and Rick in the real life.
This same healer had finally reached level 300 after farming alone for four days without even drinking water, showing everybody how fitting his nickname was. He was definitely obsessed with this game. After bragging to all the peoples in his friend list and in the forums he slept joyfully without even leaving his game capsule...
The first thing Rick felt when he opened his eyes was how hungry he was, he stretched his limbs then stared in front of him in confusion "What the hell?"
He was sleeping in his gaming capsule how and why did he suddenly wake up in a forest? Did someone pull a prank on him? But he didn't even have any irl friend!! No one had the key to his house neither.
Rick was dumbstruck but was too lazy to think about what was happening, he just wanted to eat right now. Thinking was after all a tiresome task, yes definitely a tiresome task!
He sighed when he saw that in front of him there was a weird blank glowing interface. He was even more confused, did gaming make people blind? How did he see this thing that was in front of his face only now?
He touched the glowing interface with his hand curiously wich made it shine brightly blinding his eyes. Rick cursed in his mind, then a voice sounded in his head.
[Host chosen. Host may open his status by thinking about it. Balance Breaker class given.]
"Host? Balance breaker?" Rick said "Am i dreaming? I knew i should have farmed exp instead of reading those bloody novels..."
When Rick felt his head aching and his stomach growling, he cursed in his mind, this is definitely not a dream! He thought about his status or whatever that was, then the 'blank' interface that disappeared after he touched it appeared in front of him again with writing in it this time. When Rick saw the familiar content he was startled
"The fuck? This is definitely a self-panel!" suprisingly he actually knew what the thing in front of him was.
In Legend Domain forums, instead of bragging by sending screenshots of godly equipements people actually bragged by sending screenshots of their self-panel. What made this game more special than the others was its unique progression method. At level 10 the player could choose one of the set self-attributes wich corresponds to the class he had chosen at the beggining: healer, buffer, distance-dealer, tank, melee-dealer. Or he could complete a quest to unlock a special self-attribute. The only reason that made it possible for Rick, a healer, to be the best player was his self-attribute known as [Priest of Light and Chaos] that he claimed after clearing a legendary quest. All sort of op and badass self-panels could be seen in the various forums each day dazzling the eyes of those poor people that didn't wait to clear a quest or didn't have a lucky encounter.
But Rick had one in front of him that even more op than everything he saw previously and he wasn't even in the game! He didn't know about this forest so he was sure that he didn't log in by error. and it was impossible for the famed Obsession to not know about a zone in the game even if it was a lvl 1 zone! In addition his self-panel looked a little too different...
Rick, level 1. Class: Balance Breaker
Vitality: 5
Strength: 5
Agility: 5
Perception: 5
Energy: 5
Self-attribute [Is there really no justice in this corrupted world?]
Gain a random B~SSS grade skill with each ten levels and a random A~SSS grade title each fifteen levels. Get an A rank skill at level two.
"..." Rick was speechless, altought the self-attribute made his blood boil with excitement, what was this name?! He really felt bad! And his level was only one instead of the original 300... He didn't even have time to curse at the interface before he heard a cold voice in his head.
[Self-Panel sensed that host body is in a critical state and is in urgent need of nutriments to sustain his body. Self-Panel issued a quest to fix the problem.]
When Rick heard this all his anger vanished and he smiled happily 'How convenient and reliable as expected of a system!' he opened the quest screen with a thought, but when he saw the content of the quest his expression turned ugly immediatly.
[Quest 001, Are you even human?]
Obsessed with video games, host didn't even drink for a whole five days going against the essence of humanity itself. A fool naturally have to act as such.
Hit a tree with your head five times (0/5)
Rewards: No hunger or thirst for 15 days. +1 level. Old and useless rusty iron bar x1
'Your mom is the fool! All your family is a fool too!!' Rick was truly angry this time, did a self-panel just make fun of himself the best player of Legend Domain? How arrogant! This status screen was only here to witness how great he was, preposterous!!
[Self-Panel sensed that host is having a severe case of narcissism. Self-Panel is advicing host to control himself lest something happen.]
Rick didn't even know what to say and he just chose to shut his mouth. He just got bullied by his own self-panel, what a traumatizing experience...
He was also wondering why he was here and why he had this weird class and even a self-attribute before even reaching level 10 but he didn't make a fuss about it. After what just happened, he was afraid that his status would give him some trashy self-attribute because he was talking too much... But still why did it have to give him an 'old and useless rusty iron bar' as a reward? Was it really necessary? At least he would get a skill to begin his epic adventure with the +1 level but... what epic adventure? He was too lazy to even get up right now... 'I want to sleep more...'
He glared at the first innocent tree he saw before getting up reluctantly.
"I will show you that i'm not afraid of you tree, you will become my first stepping stone toward greatness. I will wipe that prideful expression from your trunk!" He grabbed the tree then... Bam!Bam!Bam!
Rick felt dizzy and he nearly fell to the ground 'Is this how being high feel? How can you be addicted to this... It doesn't feel good at all!' he glared at the innocent tree that didn't do anything wrong and got up.
'Only two more!'
Bam!
"When i'll get my first skill i'll definitely cut you down you evil tree!"
Bam!
A cold voice sounded in his head [Quest completed, host may receive the rewards.] [You leveled up] "I'm da best!" Rick shouted excitedly before passing away...
