What to do with captives..

A few days has passed since that night. Karen was bedridden for the meantime but was already conscious. Luckily the wound did not hit too much vital organs and the surgery was done immediately.

Jason was walking towards the war room. It was time to deal with the remaining soldiers. As Jason was walking, he was thinking about the night after the event. A group of people who Celine called Cleaners arrived at the house. For three days they dealt with the corpses and blood alongside repairing the rubble.

Jason marvelled at their efficiency at cleaning. On the third day Jason felt like the house did not go through combat at all and seemed to look even more pristine than before. Jason arrived at the war room, everyone but him was already present.

"Oh my, the slowpoke is finally here." Celine said.

Jason looked at Celine and said nothing. He silently went to the table still thinking about something. Celine felt awkward about Jason's non reply towards her remark. Emily slightly giggled at how Jason acted.

"Okay okay, Celine please proceed with the meeting." Emily smiled while trying to control her laughter.

"Fine. Anywa-" Celine explained the circumstance. Currently they had 27 captives which Celine placed in an empty room by the basement. Nine of which are permanently incapacitated while the remaining had wounds of various degrees. Celine wanted to get ideas on how they could deal with the them, particularly the nine who were incapacitated.

"Just kill the nine guys if you won't even plan to help them. I mean they probably think that their lives are over. Every soldier is like that. Their lives are over the moment they become unfit for service. Unless you do something to change that of course" Jason said.

Emily looked at Jason. "You're idea might sound good, Okay, we'll try to help them. Celine do you remember the Project Regrowth we were doing last year?" Emily found an idea that can be used.

"Yup, but we're still at Phase 2, can't find proper people for Phase 3. Wait... You're thinking of using them for Phase 3?" Celine thought of it. They did need human lab rats to check the response of the human body, and indeed what could be better than former soldiers. Celine looked at Emily and nodded.

"Project Regrowth? What's that?" Jason asked.

"Generally advanced stem cell treatment that uses hyperproliferation. Using genetics and engineering we hoped to recreate limbs and organs that will not cause rejection to the immune system of the person while maintaining its biological capabilities. So far we did manage to isolate and recreate human fingers up to hands within a week. While we managed to recreate mouse organs in a day or two. The also checked for it's safety and reliability and it did prove safe on animal subjects but... we cannot rely on animal subjects alone. After all human body parts still differ from animals." Celine explained to Jason

"Fast. In fact too fast. By this world's current technological standards, it's nearly impossible to do such a precise and efficient biological experiment." Athena suddenly appeared. She suddenly got interested in the experiment.

A smug face appeared on Celine's face."Of course, I'm the best when it comes to-"

"So... How do we deal with the others who are not incapacitated?" Sasha asked. Everyone laughed except Celine at the sudden cutting of her bragging.

"At least let me finish bragging!" Celine shouted.

"Okay okay... We know you're the best." Sasha said apologetically.

"Just let them go, I think the events that night is enough to scare them. Also... News travel fast. If we let them go, they can spread the events of that night. It may become a deterrent, and-" Emily said

"Or a catchy prey. Emily, I think you underestimate how soldiers and killers think. Although most of them would value their life, a challenge is a challenge. Furthermore that was just the first attack at the house. That would incite even better killer and stronger mercenary groups to accept the job for the sake of challenge." Jason interjected.

"Hmm I do see merit in what you said." Emily started pondering.

"Well, we definitely can't let them stay here, I'm not gonna feed captive you know." Celine blurted out.

"Why don't we just torture them then before we leave them? That-" Lia proposed.

"No!" All people in room said in unison. Lia fell silent. Jason looked at Lia like he would look at a kid. Jason felt that this woman acted more impulsively on instinct rather than on thought.

"Lia, they already provided us valuable information, after we promised not to act inhumanely towards them. The part of honoring the bargain is a must right now. This will allow any future attackers to be more open to negotiating." Jason answered.

Sasha raised her hand...

"
