Somethings are Always Harder then Others

The test for the first years ended soon after Logan buried the Grimm-girls ashes where her mother died due to Logan's mistake. Announced as a AA Rank Grimm attack, the test was canceled and the points tallied so that the professors could make the most of the mess. As for Logan, he was currently drinking to the mother and child's health wherever they were now in his and Glynda's dorm. Logan couldn't get their faces out of his head and his work with the end-of-year tests for the students didn't help him forget them. It was one of the few times he truly felt guilty about what he did.

.

His mind just forcibly replayed the events of the fight again and again and again. No matter how much Logan drank, the events just wouldn't go away for even a minute. Glynda was worried about Logan as it has been a few days since the test had ended and he was over a cask deep in alcohol.

.

It was the day after that Logan finally left the alcohol behind, but to free himself from their faces, he held himself up in his pod in the parking structure. Glynda saw Logan before he left, his eyes no longer held remorse for what he did, but flames of something she couldn't identify. For what those flames were for, she didn't know. All she knew was what Logan told her. He told her that he was off the bottle and that he needed to build something. Something that would help him now and in the future.

.

Even though she was never told what it was, Glynda could tell Logan needed this.

.

A day and night passed before a new addition was added to Beacon Academy, courtesy of Logan, the morning after. The addition in question were three monuments titled 'For Lost Generations'. Two of the three monuments were a mother holding her child and a Faunus version of them while the third was of two men, one human, and the other a Faunus, walking away from them waving goodbye. Currently, Logan was sleeping on the ground beneath a fourth monument that was still being constructed.

.

Those that found the sight of the new monuments that morning were surprised to find Logan there. He was surrounded by numerous drawings, plans, measurements, pictures, countless things one would need to design and build a monument. The person who'd did it all, Logan, was sleeping on what appeared to be a final sketch of the fourth monument.

.

Needless to say that everyone who saw the new monuments was astonished. Though they had no color other than being solid grey, they emphasized the sacrifice of those that choose the path of being a Hunter/Huntress. And it was obvious that the fourth monument was a Faunus mother leaving their child with their human father.

.

Glynda was speechless when she saw what Logan had done but understood. She understood that Logan did this not only for the two that he fought in the Emerald forest but for those that chose to fight and never returned. She was proud of what Logan did and happy she was his wife as she lifted him up when she got there with her semblance and gathered everything he had laid out before moving him towards their dorm so he could rest.

.

[RWBY: Fireborn]

Logan awoke in the dorm he shared with Glynda, smelling fresh and wearing clean clothes. Logan's mind, though groggy, worked enough to figure out that his wife did this for him and made a mental note to get her something for the hassle. Getting out of bed, Logan stretched and felt his bones pop as he did. As Logan glanced at the bedside table with a clock on it that read 12:36 P.M, he grunted. As Logan walked to the kitchenette the dorm had, Glynda walked inside with several paper bags floating behind her.

.

When Glynda set her eyes on Logan, she smiled and walked up to him. As soon as she was close enough, Glynda hugged him from behind and rested her head on his back. Logan, too tired to even care, just hugged her arms as he finished filling up a glass with water. As Glynda let go after a little bit, Logan turned around while taking a drink.

.

Glynda: "Morning dear." Glynda said as she kissed his cheek. "You've been out for almost a day since you passed out, building those monuments you made. So, how are you feeling?"

Logan: "Other than feeling tired?" Logan jokingly asked as he took a drink. "Better."

Glynda: "And about..." Glynda didn't finish what she was about to say.

Logan: "I'm not sure why, but I just couldn't get them out of my head." Logan answered her unfinished question as he set his glass down. "But, now that those are built. It seems like my mind can be at peace now with it."

Glynda: "I see." Glynda smiled happily and leaned on Logan. "I'm just glad that you're no longer drinking. I hated seeing you like that."

Logan: "I know, and I regret having you see me like that." Logan said as he hugged her. "But now, I owe you for putting up with that."

Glynda: "You don't have to." Glynda said but Logan cut her off from continuing.

Logan: "I may not have to, but I want to." Logan said as he kissed her head. "Whatever you want, you got it. Be it a romantic date for the two of us, a movie night where we cuddle and watch all your favorite movies, or a night of love like no other we had. You name it."

.

Glynda went quiet at Logan's declaration. Her mind went a mile a minute with ideas that the two of them could do together. She even blushed at his 'Night like no other' comment, imagining the things they'll do. Finally, after calming down and thinking, Glynda decided.

.

Glynda: "A day just for the two of us." Glynda said after a few moments. "Consisting of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and activities throughout the day." She demanded.

Logan: "Well, well, well. Aren't you a demanding one?" Logan chuckled. "Alright, I'll bite. You'll get your day. And I'll make sure you'll never forget it."

.

Logan and Glynda stayed in each other's arms for a while, enjoying each other's warmth. After a bit, Logan let go of her and drank his glass as he asked her what happened after he passed out. Glynda told him that after she brought him here so he could sleep peacefully, the students that found him went around to find others willing to help complete the monument he left unfinished when he passed out. Logan was surprised that they were willing to finish it for him while he rested and that they were a mixed group of Humans and Faunus that are doing it.

.

Glynda giggled when she saw Logan's face after she told him that. Logan asked why she was giggling and Glynda told him that his very presence not only closed a rift between the Humans and Faunus in the school but changed their way of thinking. The before and after he arrived made things better and easier for them to get along with the added addition of mixed couples being a lot more prominent. Logan was somewhat embarrassed at that because it was never his intention for that to happen. His main goal was the betterment of Faunus kind while insuring better relations and overall quality of life for them.

.

Logan sighed happily that at least his action were already bearing fruits so early on in his time on Remnant. He told Glynda that at least something positive was happing while he was here besides the increase in quality of Hunters/Huntresses-in-training. She laughed and agreed while that was true, he was the best thing to happen to her. Logan smirked at her comment and picked her up. They didn't come out till the next day and the dorms shook for the first time since they were built.

.

When Glynda came out the next day, she was wobbling as she walked and Logan made sure she was safe and sound as they made their way to her office. Since it was the weekend, Logan decided to help her with any paperwork that had accumulated due to their fun time. While Glynda tried her best to ignore the aches and pains, Logan was breezing through the massive chunk that he took with ease. Every now and then, Glynda would give Logan a pointed glare to which he just smiled at her and caused her to blush.

.

Time flew by as the two of them became focused on the work in front of them, soon it was three in the afternoon when they finished. As Logan finished the last page he had, he stood and stretched feeling all his stiff muscles loosen and his bones pop. Glynda did the same and stretched her arms above her head, but her action caused Logan to stare at her as she inadvertently made her assets seem larger than they actually were and bounce at the same time. When she noticed Logan's stare, she giggled as he had a thin line of drool on his lips. She walked up to him and lightly smacked his head to break him out of his trance.

.

Logan just looked at her and openly said that he didn't regret staring. He even also outright called her stunning, leaving her a blushing mess. She ended up telling him to leave before she couldn't walk for the rest of the week. Logan just laughed and left her be as he just might do that.

.

As Logan left her alone, he began to walk around the campus. Just wondering and not caring where his feet took him. His mind was clearer than it was before he spent all that time building those monuments. As he walked, Logan found himself outside one of the workshops that students could use freely. As Logan wondered why his feet brought him here, a loud explosion came from inside with an all too familiar voice. With a sigh, Logan entered inside the workshop to see Ruby looking over some smoking remains of a failed project.

.

Ruby: "Aww, I was sure it was gonna work that time..." Ruby mumbled as she pouted over the smoking remains.

Logan: "What are you doing Ruby?" Logan asked as he walked up behind her.

Ruby: "Oh, hey Logan." Ruby said as she looked back at him and picked up the smoking remains. "I was trying to make a new weapon from an idea I had last night. However, you can see the results." She said as she gestured to the smoking remains.

Logan: "Well, did you go through the process like I taught you?" Logan asked.

Ruby: "Yes." Ruby groaned. "I started with a base of the idea and build it up in planning before making a prototype. I did that."

Logan: "Just making sure so that you don't go broke because of it." Logan said as he patted her head, earning himself a pout. "So, what's the idea?"

Ruby: "Well, the idea of 'mecha-shift' weapons is that it's one weapon then it changes into a completely different one. Like a handgun into a sword. But we haven't made it farther than two forms per 'mecha-shift'. The idea was to have a rifle that can change into two other firearms, a shotgun and a handgun. But I can't get it to transform without it detonating the rounds for it." Ruby told him and showed Logan the blueprints she made.

.

Logan: "Wouldn't it be better if you make it a firearm that uses Dust as ammunition or even condenses aura and fires it as projectiles?" Logan asked after looking over the blueprints Ruby made. "That way you wouldn't have to worry about using different ammunition for the different forms for one. And two, the only issue with that would be making it around the battery for aura or the compartment for Dust."

Ruby: "That's what I was thinking but I don't have enough parts or money for the prototype." Ruby told him as she shook her head.

Logan: "You okay?" Logan asked when he saw a grim look on her face.

Ruby: "The idea is good but..." She stopped that looked at Logan. "I'm starting to think that it's not a good idea to continue trying this."

Logan: "The creator of the first 'mecha-shift' weapons, right?" Logan asked.

Ruby: "Yeah, that's right." Ruby sighed. "Whoever they were most likely regretted making the first ones after he saw how they were used against people and Faunus. If it was just Grimm that were the enemies we have to fight, I would love to complete this project."

Logan: "You've grown." Logan said with a smile. "The old you would have gone and built this as soon as she heard my idea."

Ruby: "Ture." Ruby giggled. "But, we all have to grow up sometime. And while this would push 'mecha-shift' weapons farther than before, I rather not be partially responsible if this causes innocent blood to be spilled. After all, I would be considered the mother of this invention."

.

Logan: "You've grown Ruby, you truly have." Logan said as he patted her head. "Now come on, let's get rid of the blueprints and prototype. Less of this left behind, the better."
