Walking through the corridors of my family castle is always fun. In the past one year I have seen pretty much every part of the castle except the family vaults and the potion lab. Still my "Father" doesn't allow me outside the castle, saying I am too young for the dangers outside. Apparently the castle is located in the middle of a huge forest and it is home to a lot of magical creatures. I wonder what kind of creatures though?. I hope there are some unicorns and shit.
Just two days back I had my fourth birthday. On that day my "father" called me and informed me that he would teach me the basics of magical theory. So for the past two days I have a routine of first listening to my "father's" lectures on magical theory and after that I will go to my family library to read some stuff. But most sections of the library are off limits for me.
Today I will have to ask my "father" to give me permission to read some shit other than those shitty books. Because at present the only books I can get access to are those fucking children's stories. The only useful book I could get to read was that book on evaluation of wizards based on "magical pool".
Well here I am, Let's get the class started. With that thought I entered the Ancestral hall. The moment I entered the Hall I heard my "father's" excessively cheerful yet creepy voice,
"Good afternoon Brax, how was your day?."
I looked towards the direction of the voice and as usual I saw my "father's" portrait floating at the end of the hall. From his enthusiasm in seeing me I am damn sure that my father was bored as fuck. I mean he is a fucking painting who gets excited seeing a four-year-old kid. And that feels wrong at several levels. After pushing those weird thoughts out of my mind, I greeted back.
"Good afternoon father, I was just reading some books in the library."
Listening to my reply. My "father" gave me a happy/creepy smile and with a little pride in his voice my "father" spoke,
"Good to see you working hard and not wasting your time. Did I ever told you how proud I am of you?"
Oh! my fucking god, not again. I mean my "father" praises the shit out of me every time I see him. It was nice for my ego for the first few times. But later it became plain creepy listening to my "father" talk about how talented I am and how I am goanna fucking make the family great again blah blah blah... sighing to myself I annoyingly replied,
"Yes father, you told me that. If I remember correctly, it's the 23rd time you're saying that to me."
Hearing my words, my "father" chuckled and said,
"Well it not every day you see a wizard who is so suited for rituals and if such a wizard is born in our family, It's my duty to be smug about. Leaving that aside. Did you revised on the lessons I thought you yesterday?."
Giving my "father" a nod I replied,
"Yes father, I revised them. As you already know that, after undergoing mind rituals it becomes very hard for me to forget things."
My "father" looked skeptically at me before asking me,
"Is it so?? Ok, tell me what are the fundamental pillars that we should consider while casting magic?."
Well that's an easy one and also the most important one. Remembering the answer I spoke,
"The first pillar is FOCUS, it is a medium through which magic is channeled outside the wizard's body. The primary focus a wizard use is a WAND. But you can also use RUNES to act as your medium. Now the second pillar is INTENT. You have to truly convey your intentions to your magic on what you are trying to achieve, when you cast a spell. And the third and the most important pillar is a wizard's WILL. This is important because magic doesn't like to be molded. When you try to mold magic, it will always resist. You won't feel this resistance in simple spells. But for spells requiring larger magic you feel high resistance while you are casting. Even if you able to cast such a spell, It takes a tremendous WILL to keep the spell going. We also require the wand moment and incantations when casting a spell, but we can skip them with enough practise."
After I finished my explanation, my "father" clapped his hands like a kid in a candy store. God! who the fuck is the kid here. Done with his childish antics, my "father" spoke,
"Excellent Brax. Those Mind rituals must have done a wonderful work. Even some adults can't give such a beautiful explanation. Tell me are you ready for today's class?"
Fuck no!. My "father" has abyssal skills for teaching stuff. If it wasn't for my enhanced ability to focus caused by the rituals. I would have fallen asleep during his lessons. I need to convince this maniac to let me self study. So with that thought in my mind I asked him,
"Father I find it more productive if I study on my own. You just give me the access to the library so I can study on my own. If I have any doubts on any topic, I will come to you to get them cleared. What do you say, father?"
My father after listening to me thought for a moment and with a nod replied,
"Hmm, I think what you said has merit to it. You should always pursue knowledge in a way it suits you. Since you will get your "practice wand" only after you reach the age of seven, you need to have a solid hold on at theory side of certain branches of magic. I will only provide you permission to read books containing theoretical content. In the library there is a book series containing five books written By "M.G Laurnes". These books touches upon everything related to magical theory from beginner to advanced. A strong foundation on magical theory will help a wizard in mastering the spells easily and not to forget magical theory is necessary in understanding other Complex branches of magic."
After saying that my "father" stopped speaking and pondered on something for a few seconds before speaking again,
"You should also read the book Titled, "Everything Latin" written by Daniel Sandbech. Latin is a must, as several old and important books on magic are written in that language. Almost all the spells in our family are in Latin. So, work hard on improving your Latin. You should also know that for any rituals that you need to perform from the age of 11 require potions. You cannot have these potions made by someone else. Because while making potions they absorb magic from the potion maker and hence using potion made by other while performing ritual on yourself is not safe. Just like practical spell work you will only make potions after your seventh birth day. Before making any potion one has to have a solid theoretical knowledge both in potion theory and herbology. Our family library has one of the rarest collections of books written by J M Joseph Prince on teaching a wizard everything that one has to know about making potions. You will learn more herbology from these books than from your entire seven years in Hogwarts. Hmm, let me think on what else you need."
My "father" stopped speaking and seems to be trying to decide on what are other subjects that I should read. From the list of subjects my "father" asked me to study it Seems like he had some grand plans regarding my education. Thank god I found a way out from his classes. If I had taken classes on these subjects from my "father", I would have been bored to death. I was brought out of my musing when my father spoke,
"Well son seeing how you can absorb everything like a sponge. I also want you to read a book named "Complete Beginners Guide on Runes" by Scuttle Berg. This contains beginner level information on runes. But never ever attempt to carve runes without my supervision. Do you understand?"
Well I have no plans to do so until I feel confident about what I am doing. I gave him a nod conveying him I understood. Seeing that he again started speaking,
"But there is one advance subject that I hope you can handle. As it requires a lot of perception to understand this subject. In the library there are around seven books written by C Rutherford. These seven books deal with ARITHMANCY. This is a subject which is most notably used in spell crafting, creation of rituals and in many other eccentric branches of magic. I don't know whether or not you can grasp it. But even if you can't understand the subject don't worry. You can always learn it in hogwarts. I want you to try to complete all these subjects well before you reach your seventh birthday. Are you up the challenge Brax?"
Listening to his so called challenge, I was like "BITCH PLEASE!!". if he had given that task to some other kids of my age I would have called my "father" crazy ass. But I am not your average Kid. I am a child Einstein with adult mentality. Completing these subjects will be a walk in the park. So with all arrogance I could muster I replied,
"Father don't worry I will complete them well before my seventh birthday."
Satisfied with my reply. My "father" gave one of his patented creepy ass smile and spoke,
"If it wasn't for the extraordinary effects that these rituals had on your MInd, Magic and Body, I would I have never demanded so much from you. Remember to not waste the potential that these rituals have provided you with. And just because you are studying by yourself doesn't mean that I would leave you alone. I would from time time test your progress. So doesn't slack off. Are we clear Brax??"
I wasted enough time in my previous life. I have no such plans whatsoever to do so in my second life. With that promise to myself. I spoke,
"Don't worry, father. I will work hard. But thanks for accepting my request."
My "father" acknowledged my thanks by giving me a small nod and spoke,
"Ok I think this is enough talk for today, Go to the library and start your studies. all the books I spoke of will be available for you by the time you reach the library. Oh! and one more thing if your progress is satisfactory I will give a book along with Artifact to practice one of the most powerful and arcane branch of magic."
Intrigued by his words I asked,
"What is this branch of magic is called father?."
Listening to my question he just smirked and spoke,
"Like I said, only if I feel your progress is satisfactory, I will tell you what it is. Now enough of this talk. head to the library to start your studies."
Whatever bitch!!. I am confident about how my progress is going to be. So I gave him a nod and walked out of the Ancestral Hall to head towards the library. Let's once more go through what are the subjects I need to master before my seventh birthday.
1) Magical Theory
2) Latin
3) Entire theoretical knowledge on Potion and Herbology
4) Beginner level rune theory
5) Arithmancy
I have three years to complete these 5 subjects. EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY.
