Modern era (Ch 1)
500 a.R.E. (after Roxas Empire).
Five hundred years have passed since the fall of the Roxas Empire, the only reign that managed to dominate the entire Alferum continent. Since the Black desert revolution that brought its ruin, none of the five great races managed to live in peace. During these 500 years humans, dwarves, elves, greens and demons fought three territorial wars using what the technical and magical knowledge inherited by the empire.
Through their advanced technology, the dwarves built giant cities inside and outside the mountains in the country located at the north of Alferum: Jotun. They are recognised as the strongest race and their influence over the continent is the greatest.
The elves, whose bodies are perfect for magic arts, are contending Aspasia, the eastern country, with the greens, those who obtained all the information about the fighting styles and ki cultivation developed by the empire over thousands of years.
As for the demons, ancient books say that they live in the central part of Fermor, the western country, but no one has seen them for 250 years, since the second territorial revolution, and not much is known of their culture. Many have tried to venture in their territories but no one ever came back due to the high presence of monster in that region of Alferum.
The Humans, finally, reside in Redon the centre of the continent. Redon is divided in four parts: three wooded areas, on the slopes of three mountains, and a wasteland that takes most of the country and that divides these mountains.
What humans inherited by their ancestors is a bit peculiar. They did not obtain any kind of knowledge or power, nothing, aside the energy manipulation system. The EMS was developed few years before the 0 a.R.E. as the last hope against the revolution, it is inborn in human kids allowing their body to change and to adapt to anything, it can be activated when they are 8 years old. They can potentially learn magic, Ki, use the special dwarf body chips or any kind of natural power they encounter, and combine them in new and unexpected ways.
Despite all of this, humans are the weakest of the five races because of two reasons: even though they have the EMS, there are naturally less talented in those powers than the other species. The other factor is that there are only 100 thousands of them left, with over the 20% of them too old to fight and 70% not talented for offensive kind of energies.
(Note): Some ancient records speak about other kinds of sentient creatures that supposedly existed in ancient times: like dragons, the giants of beginning, the beast kin...
Nevertheless, none of them exists anymore in Alferum.
