The hotel that Mr. Wu had booked was possibly the nicest place Sun Mei had ever stayed at. It was even nicer than Mr. Wu's house, which was luxurious to begin with.
The moment that Sun Mei and Yu Zan stepped into their private room, Yu Zan jumped on the bed and spread her arms wide.
"I wouldn't mind just sleeping here for the entire trip," she said with a contented sigh.
"You were just sleeping on the plane!" Sun Mei reminded her.
"Yes, but the taxi ride here was exhausting."
Sun Mei smirked at her. "And you called Lily a brat."
"I never said that. Don't tell Mr. Wu I said that!"
"I'll record you next time and use the footage as leverage."
"That is the most evil thing you have ever said. I knew you had potential in you."
"To become a cartoon villain?"
"No, you can't hold a candle to cartoon villains."
"Stop complimenting me. It's not like it's my birthday."
"Technically, your birthday was yesterday."
"My birthday will last as long as this trip lasts."
"Look who's the brat now!"
One hour after the check-in, they met Mr. Wu at the reception. Sun Mei frowned when she saw that Lily was not with him.
"Sir, where is Lily?" she asked worriedly.
"She fell asleep. Apparently, annoying 196 passengers for an entire flight exhausted the hell out of her," Mr. Wu joked.
"But… But… Who is watching her?"
"The hotel offers a babysitter service for an extra charge. The babysitter is supposed to call me as soon as she wakes up. In the meantime, I thought I would show you guys around the city and treat you to lunch," Mr. Wu said with a smile.
"I love that idea!" Yu Zan said immediately. "Can you show us around the casinos first?" she asked.
"You are not even allowed to gamble," Sun Mei told her. "You are 19."
"Oh, who cares?"
"The casino owners and the local police?"
"Stop being a party pooper."
"Well, it's my birthday and I don't want you to get arrested on it!"
"Um… Girls?"
"Yes?"
Sun Mei and Yu Zan turned simultaneously to look at Mr. Wu.
"Yu Zan is not the only one who's not allowed to gamble."
"What do you mean?" Sun Mei asked him.
"I'm… kind of banned for life from every casino in town."
"On what basis? You are well over the age of 21," Sun Mei said with a frown.
"The casino owners consider me a threat to their business." Mr. Wu tried to explain the situation.
"Well, how long has it been since the last time you threatened their business?" Yu Zan asked him.
"I believe the last time they kicked me out was six years ago…"
"They won't even remember you!" Yu Zan told him. "Plus, most of the staff must have changed ever since."
"It's worth a try," Sun Mei also said encouragingly.
"I guess…" Mr. Wu agreed reluctantly.
The three of them walked across the street and entered the first casino they came across, eager to test this theory.
As soon as Mr. Wu stepped into the premises of the casino, a middle-aged man with a mustache yelled, "You again!"
