The Stingy Savior

Yu Zan won a total of 415 bucks before Sun Mei forced her to leave the roulette table so they could go meet Lily and Mr. Wu. Although Yu Zan begged her to stay, Sun Mei did not give in.

"I'm starving. It has been hours since our last meal. Maybe it was breakfast."

"Fine," Yu Xan said with a sigh. "I'll treat you to dinner."

"Before you do, I want my share of the profit."

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about my salary. I played on your behalf."

"You're robbing me!"

"Hey, be nice. It's my birthday."

"I can't wait for that excuse to wear off."

While the two of them were bickering, they exited the casino. Once they were outside, a man approached them and looked at Sun Mei appreciatively. He was wearing nice clothes, but he looked clearly drunk. His friend, who looked even more drunk, followed him like a dog.

"Hey, cutie," the first man told Sun Mei with a drawl. "Want to go have a drink?"

"Uh… No, thank you. I don't really drink," Sun Mei said in an effort to be polite, although she would not have accepted the offer even if she had liked to drink.

"You can have something else. Plenty of choices around here…" As the man spoke, he stepped forward and tried to touch Sun Mei's arm, clearly invading her personal space.

Sun Mei stepped back awkwardly.

"Sorry, I'm good. We already have plans."

"What kind of plans?" The man now seemed to notice Yu Zan, who had been standing next to Sun Mei the whole time. "You can bring your friend too if you want to."

Yu Zan rolled her eyes. "As if!"

"As if what, babe?" the man's friend asked her. "Are you playing hard to get?"

"Come on, we'll have a great time," the man added before making another effort to touch Sun Mei.

"We'd rather not," Sun Mei said as firmly as she could.

Unfortunately, he did not seem to get the message. "Oh, come on, don't be like that…"

Before he could finish his sentence, Yu Zan pulled a small item out of her bag, pointed it swiftly right in the man's face, and pressed it.

"Ah!" The man stepped back and covered his eyes in pain.

His friend immediately turned towards Yu Zan. "You filthy little…"

"If you so much as try to touch us, we will call the casino security!" Yu Zan pointed to the casino behind her as she stood her ground and held the pepper spray in her hand. "Our friend Jose is the manager and he will make sure the security guards beat you to a pulp!"

"You know Jose?" The man's friend stepped back hesitantly. He was clearly afraid of pissing off Jose.

Sun Mei wondered what kind of casino rule he had broken. He looked too stupid to be able to cheat at cards.

Before Yu Zan could confirm that they knew Jose, which was technically true, the two men turned around and ran.

Sun Mei let out a sigh of relief as she watched them go. "Our friend Jose saved the day."

"No, I saved the day." Yu Zan corrected her. "Now, we are even. I get to keep the profit!"

Sun Mei started laughing. "Fine!"

It felt really awesome to have a badass, stingy friend.
