Leon sat in the hollow section of the world tree holding the tree of life. He watched Seth cutting the branch of slowly.
As Leon waited he tried to talk with Ifrit, Ariel or the Chimera to figure out the situation but the telepathy wasn't connecting.
"Is the inside of the world tree considered a separate space?" Leon thought. He didn't know what was happening outside the tree or at the competition. He assumed it was time the competition would be stopped because of the explosions. They would then try to find the threat. This is why he still hadn't fought anyone for the last few hours. "The plan should be working." Leon thought.
Seth was close to cutting the branch off completely. There was a tiny slither of wood left in the scissors slowly being pierced. Leon got up and started walking up to the Tree. He was getting ready to kill Seth and the two fairies with him the moment the branch was completely cut.
Seth didn't think Leon was suspicious. He through Leon was here to catch the branch as it fell. He put all his strength into cutting it.
Caraaack!
Something broke, the tree branch started to fall. Leon caught it with one hand. And formed a lightning blade with the other. He quickly killed the tired man and beasts.
Leon looked at the branch, it was a normal tree branch but was light, almost weightless. The amount of energy it held however was enormous. Especially when the energy was life energy. The strongest element known to exist next to death, space and devour.
However looking at the branch Leon felt weird. Like he was pained in the heart. Zen who was on his head told Leon it was his soul book.
"My soul book?" Leon summoned it. The crimson soul book appeared. Just as he was about to open it, the book flipped to the page with Storm Spirit Butterfly and it broke free form the book.
Leon was surprised this had never happened in his past life, "It broke free because I'm using a weaker soul technique, I'll have to make a note of that." Leon thought.
The butterfly was pained. It flew to the Tree of life and sat where the branch had been cut. It looked at Leon and then shouted at him using telepathy between Summoners and beast, however it wasn't as clear as the Blood oath.
The butterfly conveyed a message along the lines of, "How can you do this Leon! I'm severely disappointed by your poor choice! The treeling needed a Leaf not a branch! just take a Leaf! Why cause all this unnecessary death?"
Leon didn't know what to say. He did feel bad but he wanted to use it for the butterfly's evolution into a life beast.
"Do you think I want to achieve being a life beast by climbing a mountain of corpses?! Shame on you for not having some common sense!" The butterfly responded.
Leon felt that words weren't particularly mean but really stung. Leon was rendered speech less and didn't know what to do.
"Look the branch has been cut. There is no point in staying here any longer, What has been done cannot be undone." Leon said to the butterfly.
"But it can be fixed." The butterfly responded.
"Stop, it's impossible. Let's not drag this any longer." Leon then tried to unsummon the butterfly. However it didn't work. He tried again and it still didn't work.
"I said it's too late, let's leave before more trouble arrives. The Elven Queen will awaken because of the branch being cut, we have to leave now!" Leon felt the situation getting serious. Even Zen tried to convince the butterfly into leaving.
"Zen you are siding with Leon?! As a being born from nature and a Dragon on top of that I thought you would understand the situation better!"
Zen was rendered speechless with Leon. It knew this was wrong but since Leon decided to go with the plan he decided to support Leon.
Leon saw that convincing wasn't working, "Fine, how do we fix it?" Leon asked.
"I will use my body as a glue to hold the branch together with the tree. The branch will eventually connect with the tree then, and everything will be fine!" The butterfly said in a happy and simple tone. As if it was easy to do.
"Really is that it?" Leon asked.
"I might also be absorbed into the tree." The butterfly answered.
"Nope, No, I'm not sacrificing you for a tree. Let's go now, If you become a life beast you'll be able to save anything you want then. So start planning for the future and stopping thinking about the path to it." Leon said. He told Zen to capture it.
"Leon, If you take me away forcefully I will break the contract we formed." The butterfly conveyed. Zen hesitated and didn't attack.
"Zen freeze it, we'll discuss this later, now we have to leave." Leon said. Zen was still confused on what to do and didn't respond. Leon saw he would have to do it himself and activated an ability to freeze the butterfly. However before it activated the butterfly flapped its wings and a crack sound was heard. His crimson soul book had a large crack through it. A page tore out of and turned into lights.
"You actually broke the contract?" Leon didn't actually think it would do it. He thought it was bluffing.
From the soul book the Phoenix broke out and looked around.
Seeing it come out Leon lost it, he grabbed his soul book and threw it to the ground, "Are you kidding me! If you all can come out yourselves then what's the point of me being here!" Having released some of his anger Leon calmed down.
The butterfly sat in the tree talking to the Phoenix. It explained the situation to it. The Phoenix nodded, it looked at Leon, "Leon my friend here is right. We should heal the tree."
"It already broke the contract, There is no point in asking my opinion, just let it sacrifice itself." Leon said with a bitter expression. He was getting ready to leave.
"No, you need to form a formation to let the butterfly and tree become one."
"You mean the fusion formation?" Leon asked.
"Yes, that one!"
"Sorry, why would I help a beast that betrayed me?" Leon answered.
"Leon, if you don't help I'll be angry at you!" The Phoenix said.
Leon was surprised. You are suppose to be my primal beast! Your suppose to join with my personality perfectly, why are you helping it?
Zen then said that it also thinks Leon should heal the tree.
If Leon had the soul book he would throw it to the ground again. "Why did I contract such righteous beasts?" He took a deep breath.
"Fine, I'll help but we need to form a contract again. I won't let you die. If I have to I'll come for later and remove you." Leon said, that butterfly agreed and contracted Leon again. He had used the Nine Thrones soul energy from his other soul book to let the page recover so he could contract again.
The contract formed, Leon jumped on to the Tree of life and used the Blood the butterfly gave him to draw a fusion formation. He then held the branch in place and jumped off. The butterfly landed ate a Leaf of the Tree then activated the formation. It turned completely emerald. It's wings grew larger and was able to wrap around the whole branch.
The butterfly then dulled and turned brown. It then eventually blended into the tree. It's form could still be seen holding the branch.
The tree had recovered but he lost the butterfly. The page in his soul book dulled. It had cracks grow through it. It was about to tear off.
From the tree four leaves fell off, they landed on the page. Their life aura stopped it from breaking and caused it to freeze as it is. Leon felt a thin connection with the butterfly form. He could only feel it if he really concentrated but it was there. The butterfly had some remaining conscious. He couldn't do anything about it at the moment but he was happy that it didn't die.
Leon unsummoned the Phoenix that was staying Good Bye to the butterfly. He kept away the four leaves and jumped on to Zen.
Zen turned into ghost form and left the world tree. Leon had Zen form again. He saw the Ifrit still fighting, he unsummoned it and had Zen kill the leader.
A large ice sword with the blade coming out from a dragon's mouth formed. It slashed the leader in half.
The elven commander was surprised. The fight had reached a stand still. He hadn't expected the leader to die. He looked at Leon who was riding a giant misty Dragon and was shocked even more. He recognized Leon as the person who he had seen earlier.
"The tree of life has recovered. I hope you will do a better job protecting something so important." Leon said. He didn't really care weather the elf commander saw Zen or not. He was just really pissed off for losing a contract beast. The only reason he didn't kill everyone here was because it was still alive. At the moment he just wanted to kill Elena and go back to the Fire Continent.
Leon then felt the Blood oath connect with the chimera. "Leon, the situation has gone from bad to worse. Elena didn't follow the plan and didn't stop the messenger, rather I sensed her here in flower dance city. The messenger reached and the Monarch knows the branch is being stolen. Ariel and I are stopping him for now."
"What?! Elena is at flower dance?" Leon was surprised. Then he concentrated on the more urgent matters, "Escape, I've gotten what I needed, No point in holding him any longer. I'll be with you soon."
