The Snarl

And then we went on without saying a word to each other into the elevator to the 56th floor.

As the elevator door opened up we understood we were in a maze with the monster.

As we went on the maze I was in my world thinking about what the Overseer told me about. I started to murmur," He said it was called the Bits and was one of his previous tests mutated, he may be meant they were once human like us but were mutated through the HG like the Overseer told that two of us mutated. So, Then we could transform into that creature which we are about to see ! ", I shouted.

John freaked out when I shouted and said," Alexa, calm down and would you not do that again please, God ! That almost freaked the life out of me ".

I replied," I am sorry, I w... was just thinking about the creature he told me about. He told that he mutated his previous tests and they turned into one of those. So, I figured they were human once like us and also he told there were two of us injected to get mutated, so... ".

Benjamin overheard us and said," We could turn into one of those too ".

John was annoyed at Benjamin and said," Hey ! I was about to say that. Anyway we haven't seen it yet. So, we can't be sure ".

That was true what John said, But then it came. We heard heavy footsteps coming toward us from ahead, So we all stopped and started to point the gun ahead. Then we saw a man putting his head down and coming towards us. He had long hair which could cover his face even if he put his head up

James asked the man," Hey there could you show your face ? ".

The man heard James's voice and then bent and put his hands on the floor as animals stand, put his head up and said," I don't want to get into details... So, Let's get it over with ".

James said to us," This might be one of those creatures he was talking about ".

From then we knew it was about to get worse and we were all afraid. Then the man started to transform further, Tentacles started to emerge from his back and there were 8 tentacles. His mouth started to widen more than it normally could for a Human.

We didn't want to see it more and started to run away from it as we went on running we came across the elevator, but the elevator did not open and a digital message was displayed that we had to kill the Bit to move ahead.

James said," So, it is like that. We wouldn't give up that easily. Let's go take that monster down ! ".

Then James looked at us. He saw that we all were trembling in fear, it looked like we were paralyzed from top to bottom.

James said to Rebecca," Rebecca, We will take the thing on till they get back to their senses ".

Rebecca didn't say anything but went ahead to face the Bit. I really wanted to go on with them but I couldn't it was just that the creature was a human and we are killing him.

Hassan snapped out of it but trembled and said," I... I know we are going face creatures that were human once but no more you should know that too ".

I understood what he meant because they are mutated and the human inside him died and now we are facing the plague that had taken control of his mind, So, it isn't human anymore.

We all calmed down and then went towards were James and Rebecca went and then saw that it was already dead.

Rebecca said to us," What took you all so long!?! ".

We were just amazed that it died. James said to us," We didn't do anything it just died because its head exploded ".

Suddenly the HGs beeped on our neck and the Overseer said," The thing is I didn't want it to go on because it was out of my control, So, I killed it. You all can consider yourselves lucky ".

Then the Overseer just beeped off. We were all relieved but knew that Xavier and Sarah had to face the same thing. So, we hurried.

And now it was off to Xavier and Sarah. They were slowly moving ahead, Sarah was behind Xavier. Suddenly the HG beeped and the Overseer said," I will tell you a secret and haven't told the others about it, well, it is about the passage which is connected to the other pieces that Jean had come from. On the 55th floor, there is the passage connected and is a pathway that you can go but not the other I have told till here to you all. And the passage name is called "The Snarl" It is the only escape to get through this floor and I wanted to say the monster that I have sent to meet you was once a human but now my creature, Good Luck If you do get out through the snarl ".

Then the Overseer beeped off. As they went on they heard footsteps headed their way, they stopped moving and kept silent till they came across a man. They didn't speak even then as they were not sure if to trust him.

But the man stopped and asked," Why are you both just standing there, Aren't you willing to talk to me ? ".

Sarah replied to the man," We don't even know who you are and it seems like your HG is red ".

The man said," Oh ! So, you know that already. As my master introduced me I am The Bit, the evolution of human beings ".

That was the time when Sarah whispered in Xavier's ears to run away into the snarl. Xavier at that moment didn't hesitate a bit and went ahead and struck the Bit on its tentacle. But the Bit eventually stabbed Xavier from his back with its tentacle.

Xavier knew it was over for him, So, He gave a gesture to Sarah telling her to run to the snarl. She didn't scream in horror but cried and listened to Xavier and went on and left him alone to die.

Sarah went on and on and finally came across a long corridor-like passage. She knew that this was the snarl. She hesitated to move on and wanted to die along with Xavier, but the last words Xavier was about wanting her to live on for him. And so, she did go into the passage and the path behind her was shut and she didn't look back and went on strong for Xavier.

And then as she went along the snarl and finally came across the end of the snarl and as she looked around if someone was around she did see a group. Sarah asked for help and they came.

The first boy came and asked her," Did you see a girl named, Jean somewhere ? ".

Sarah replied," Yeah ! She is still alive but on the other side and you don't have to worry about her because my friends are there for her ".

The first guy started to introduce himself and everyone there and said," I am Dexter, I am relieved to hear she is alive and this guy here who doesn't care about strangers is Ben and The guy who is afraid to go on alone, his name is Harry If you think we were the only ones who were trapped inside here you are wrong because we already lost three other friends before Jean had gone but I am happy that Jean is still alive. The others died on the 66th floor itself and there was nothing we could do about it but had to move on because we have a long way ahead of us ".

Ben said to Sarah," You don't have to accept kindness from my side but since we are in this together we have to help each other ".

Harry said," Shut the f*** up, Ben! And you don't have to mind whatever he says he is just happy that there is someone else joining us and we all are too, I couldn't go on but I found someone to help me as Jean does ".

Sarah was happy now but she wouldn't forget what Xavier has done for her and she will stay strong for him till the end.

Sarah and the others went on talking about their journey this far, The others were terrified but knew they had lost more than Sarah did but they liked Sarah speaking to them and they became close from then on. They finally reached the elevator and were off to the 54th floor.

And so now it was off to us, As we reached the elevator and were off to the 55th floor. As the elevator opened and displayed digitally that there was no one on the floor. We felt they might have gone on the passage that Jean had come from. I asked Jean," Is any of your friends still alive till you were there ? ".

Jean said," Ya ! Harry, Dexter and Ben were there but I don't know if they are alive now!? ".

We understood that because she also said that she had lost her other friends at the beginning on the 66th floor and they couldn't do anything about it.

And then when we were off to the 54th floor and saw the full floor was a luxurious dormitory and looked like the 61st floor.

Suddenly the HG beeped and the Overseer said," I gotta say your friends had the spirit to fight till the end because they did but they eventually died in vain because you all have a long way to go. And the other one went on the passage to the other maze, if you already started to fail this will be your probable end because I just got started, So, Take care ".

We didn't believe the Overseer at first but then if someone died it might have been Sarah I thought because she was willing to end her life for her friend. I started to cry and the others along with me but I knew we all couldn't keep mourning about it because we had a long way to go and we can't give up yet and put their deaths in vain. I still couldn't believe that Xavier would abandon Sarah and go on, I felt there might be a reason for it or it might be the whole way around, but we don't know it yet.

The Overseer continued," The next floor that you are headed to, is to the Bird Sanctuary and you will have a real surprise of a view when you reach there. It was one of my favourite floors that I have ever created, The 53rd floor ! ".

And then the Overseer beeped off. It was really too fast that we had kept on moving and it was hard for us to go on like this and as backup, we had only a single for each of us, So, we thought to rest here for a while.

So we went around the floor to look what all were there and we found extra guns to take along with us James advised us all to make 5 pairs to share a set of guns along as our backup with a pistol for each of us. We all agreed with James and divided ourselves into 5 pairs thinking of suitable pairs. And this is how it was Allan and me were on the 1st pair, George, Hassan and Jean were on the 2nd pair, Diana and Andrew were on the 3rd pair, Benjamin and John were on the 4th pair and James and Rebecca were on the 5th pair.

And then we all decided what gun we had to carry along with us. Allan and I decided to carry AK-47 as that was the only gun I have heard of and it was easy to carry because I would not use it but Allan would use it and also because he knows how to use it more than I did. Hassan, George and Jean decided to carry a Machine Gun we all felt sorry for him because the gun looked bigger than him and we couldn't imagine Hassan carrying it, So, Rebecca selected a Sub Machine Gun for them. Diana and Andrew also decided to carry an AK-47 like we did because it looked easier to carry. Benjamin and John took a lot of time in picking and at last, he picked an AK-47 because Benjamin felt it was light and they hadn't had to struggle in carrying it, that took him so long to pick. Anyway, Rebecca and James also took their time because they had more arguing than picking and at last Rebecca picked the Machine Gun that Hassan had picked earlier, James didn't want to argue anymore, So, He had to agree. That was when we knew to realize the real Rebecca is more dangerous than she was.

And then we all went to the dormitory to sleep and then get going. After everyone slept I got up as I couldn't sleep and started to move for a while till I feel sleepy, I then saw James was awake keeping guard on us to make sure nothing happens while we had all slept. So, I had to stay calm and go to sleep and that is what I did. After we all woke up we saw James still sleeping, so, we left him as it was and decided that we would move on when he is wakes up.

After he woke up he saw that we all were ready to go to the 53rd floor and then he took his time getting ready and going on.

And then we were off to the 53rd floor on the elevator...
