Married (part 2)

Seeing Lily so deep in her thoughts, Leonard frowned "What are you thinking so deeply about?" Lily's mind returned to the present, she blinked her eyes and looked at Leonard intensely.

"Before starting this relationship. I have to tell you something" Lily sighed, she didn't know what was going to happen in the future but, hearing his sincere words, a feeling arose inside her that she couldn't describe. "I'm a divorcee" she said. Just thinking about Zachary left a bitter taste in her mouth.

Leonard looked guilty at her "What would you do if I tell you that I already knew?"

Lily looked at him in bewilderment "What? How? When?" she was surprised.

He grinned at her "Well I have my ways."

Lily looked at him suspiciously "So you also know who I married?"

Leonard nodded but his grin turned to a scowl. Witnessing her thinking about another man in his bed left a bitter taste. "Did you love him?"

Hearing his question, Lily's was thrown back to when she met Zachary for the first time. She was 18 at that time, their grandfathers were really good friends. His family was invited for dinner at her family place. She remembered the first time her eyes met his her heart had skipped a beat. At that time he was 23 and had just become the CEO of Lawrence Enterprises. She was sneaking secret glances at him throughout the dinner, afterall she was a young and silly girl who had started building castles in the air since she saw him.

All her life her parents only taught her how to be a good wife to Zachary Lawrence. However, Zachary made sure to bring that castle down, not leaving a piece untouched. Just thinking about it had her let out a chuckle of self-mockery.

Lily looked at Leonard, her eyes void of any emotion "It was silly puppy love that went on for much longer than it should have. But I don't have any feelings towards him now." Lily was truly tired of that baseless love.

Leonard was very quiet while she was talking. He had noticed the various emotions that flashed through her eyes, especially the pain. He felt a stir of jealousy that he had never felt before. He knows that despite her words she was still deeply affected by her ex. It was not easy to forget your first love, he would know since he was once in her shoes.

The jealousy that he was feeling right now was because he knew that this woman in his arms must have loved her ex husband a lot, but that bastard caused her to build a protective barrier around her heart which she didn't want to tear down.

Leonard shifted their position, this time spooning her. Hugging her back, he kissed her shoulder blades. Lily's breath hitched.

"I won't dig into your past anymore. Tell me when you are comfortable. And, honestly, I don't care about your past, what I care about is the current you and our future. As I said before, since you married me, you won't be able to escape."

Lily never knew this man could be so affectionate. She really didn't know him. He was a complete mystery to her and she wanted to solve each and every puzzle he had to offer. She turned her body to face him, a gentle smile spread across her lips.

"I don't know where this relationship will take us but I will give it a chance." She said.

Leonard's eyes brightened when she said she was going to give their relationship a chance. He moved his face to kiss her but Lily blocked his lips "Morning breath" she grumbled.

Annoyance spread across his face "I don't care. I want to kiss my wife!"

A blush spread across Lily's face "You surely know how to talk sweet. It seems you are a pro at it." she mumbled.

Leonard smirked "Only for my wife".

Then his expression turned serious. "I won't deny that I have been in a physical relationship with other women before, but I can promise you that I will respect our relationship, Lily."

An insecurity spread in her heart. She didn't want to have history repeat itself, but since he was saying that he will honour their relationship she wanted to believe that the worst wouldn't happen. It's not like she loved him.

She looked into his eyes and said, "As I said, I will give us a chance. But Leonard, if ever you like someone else or don't want to be in this relationship anymore just tell me, don't cheat on me."

He sighed but nodded, because of that bastard he had to work harder to make her trust him.
