Jeremy blankly stared at his phone. Did uncle hung up on me, again?! Gosh! That man really... Petty. Jeremy sighed and looked upward to the blue sky as if seeking for comfort between the blue sky and the white fluffy clouds.
God, I pray earnestly to you to bless my uncle, he prayed silently deep in his heart. His uncle really in need of a woman in his life to make him see the best thing in life: love.
He just turned around to enter the gallery when he caught sight of his lady boss making her way out of her office.
"Jeremy, let's go! We will go inspect the venue for Miss Simon's wedding," Rose flashed her bright smiled that caused Jeremy to momentarily stunned.
"Uh?" he was totally caught off guard from his lady boss' beautiful smile.
"C'mon now. Don't just stand there. Go, grab your camera and the necessary equipment! I'll wait for you in the car," Rose urged him. Only then Jeremy grabbed hold himself and rushed to do what he had been told.
After he put everything in the car, he hopped in and fastened his seat belt. Rose chuckled upon looking at his childish behaviour and couldn't stop herself from teasing him, "You are way too cute for someone your age!" she continuously chuckled at him.
Jeremy's ears became crimson red as he was teased by his lady boss. Lady boss, please don't say words like that... I'm afraid I'll have my life hanging on a thin thread. You don't know how my uncle is. He definitely will kill me if he heard you.
"Boss, don't you..."
"Uh-uh. Don't call me boss," Rose cut his line.
"But you are my lady boss," Jeremy refuted.
"Ah... lady boss eh? I like the sound. But, no. Don't even call me as your lady boss." Rose stated.
"Then how should I address you? Ma'am?" This time Rose laughed out loud when she heard Jeremy addressed him as ma'am.
"Ma'am? What am I? Your auntie?" Rose couldn't stop herself from keep on chuckling.
"It sounds nice A.U.N.T.I.E - Auntie," Jeremy articulated the words clearly for Rose. Rose, who didn't realise the underlying meaning of Jeremy had said, merrily laughed.
"Look at you! You sure know how to brighten other's mood. Now I envy your little girlfriend."She paused awhile before continuing her lines, "How I wish I would meet someone that will truly care about me," There was a longing look written all over her face.
"Maybe you didn't realise that someone might really care about you," Jeremy mumbled. Rose glanced at him while steadily manoeuvred her Bugatti Veyron on the busy highway. She smiled.
"Ah... Hopefully. But then, why didn't he come forward?" she asked in curiosity tone. Her beautiful eyebrow arched upward making her eyes appeared sexy and mysterious. Jeremy gulped down his saliva. Even the tone she used quite seducing someone to act foolishly. Gosh! My heart! My heart! Jeremy screamed nervously internally and tried his best to calm his senses.
"Maybe he is afraid you'll reject his love?" Rose chuckled and instinctively pinched his arm.
"Nonsense." She focused back on her driving and soon the two of them reached the venue.
While both Rose and Jeremy walked to the gazebo next to the church, someone suddenly grabbed hold Rose's free hand that made her jerked to the side. If it was not for Jeremy's quick reaction, she would surely fell down and sprained her ankle.
Jeremy frowned and glared at the culprit. He was surprised to see it was the same man that was rumoured to be Rose's scandal in social media. Steve Mclare. Oh, this is bad! Real bad! The rumours about them still actively circulating in the social media and this dude suddenly appeared here. Won't he know that this could cause massive trouble to his lady boss?
"Steve! What are you doing here?" Rose was surprised too, to see Steve at Miss Simon's wedding site. What is he trying to do? She didn't try to mask her uneasiness in her eyes in which Jeremy could see it clearly. And of course, Steve too. But he needed to see her.
He had followed her car from the gallery all the way the site. He knew he needed to do something, but he simply couldn't. He had been trying hard to keep in touch with her when he was in Australia but there were always the unseen obstacles that prevented him to do so.
"Sorry Rose. I went to your gallery, but I saw you drove off as soon as I reached there. So, in the end, I followed your car and, well, here I am,"
"I'm sorry. But I can't entertain you now. I've got works to do." Rose simply rejected him outright. Jeremy who watched from the sideline felt the urge to raise his thumb at his lady boss. Served him right. You dare to try to steal away my uncle's woman? Not a chance! Uh, wait... Won't that made his lady boss his aunt?
"It's okay. You do your work. I can just wait for you to finish," Rose stared at Steve and sighed.
"I really busy. If it is about the rumour, just let it be. It will slide sooner or later," Rose said casually. Steve looked at her, surprised. He thought the rumour would make her feeling down, and he was preparing himself to come and offer her his shoulder to cry on. It seemed... Rose was unaffected. He felt deeply disappointed. The Rose he knew wasn't there anymore. So where is his Rose?
"You should go home." Rose urged him to go home. She didn't want to give others chances to come up with some rumours about her. It would cost her business.
"I'll message you later," with that Steve turned around and walked slowly away from her. Rose knew that she had broken his heart, but she couldn't help it. She was not the same Rose he knew. She used to love someone else, but whenever she tried to recall his name and even his face, she would experience massive headache as if she was knocked with a hammer on the head.
